Hi Ladies,

I hope you don't mind, I started a new thread as our first one was quite full! I can't believe we're a quarter-way through the first year already! Smile

OP posts:

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 03/11/2010 20:49

Pamelat - glad Alex is sleeping better but sorry it's so restricting :( How annoying!

Pigley - Lucy's weight sounds good :) Hope DD1 has fun at her ballet school, must be a bit nerve-wracking leaving her.

WLTK - DD is very adventurous. It's fab but sometimes a worry!

Mollycuddles - hope Molly does take well to food. It's really nice to see him enjoying it but a bit alarming how greedy he is so far. He got very upset when I gave DD a biscuit earlier and he didn't have one Hmm Hope work went well and it wasn't too painful. How was your mega-crazy patient? You must get some crackers!

Quiet day tomorrow with no disappearances! I got the Christmas films out for DD and she's been watching the Snowman so I feel all Christmassy now!

mollycuddles · 03/11/2010 21:03

Thanks all for the support. Will try to do a better job at personals tomorrow during an expressing break. Today was ok and Molly only drank 8 oz of the 11 I left so that's great with regards to keeping up with her. Am lying in bed cuddling her at the moment but need to go and try to express again before I sleep. Will be a bit later home tomorrow (about 3) so want to leave about 12oz. Done a bit of online shopping this evening too. The chat at work was nice but got very anxious about 12ish and was glad to get home. The mad patient was in ok form. Bless her. She's a total hypochondriac and I had the same conversation with her today as we were having before I went off work.

pigleychez · 03/11/2010 21:10

Heffa- The snowman is DD1's fav film! We bought it for her last xmas and shes even that young she would sit transfixed to it! Brilliant! Grin
I got it out again last week to watch and it still holds it magical powers :)

Pamlet- Lucy is the same and sleeps better at home. DD1 still sleeps most days so im used to mostly being at home between 12 and 2 ish. However most our friends are in the same boat with the toddlers and Lunch so it works out fine.
Def agree with the sleep thing. DD1 had a 3hour nap the other day, bed as normal at 7 and then didnt wake up till 9am the next morning!

Hoping for a repeat of Lucy's sleeping through tonight but she was abit unsettled going down so im not holding my breath.

Molly- That patient sounds abit like my mum! Grin One sneeze and shes got the flu!

wouldliketoknow · 03/11/2010 21:25

molly i know a girl like that patient, she goes to the same surgery i do so i know the doctors are not bonkers, she reckons that she has a stomach ache that paralyses her, acompanied by headaches and muscle pain, they had done all bloods work, scans, and every test under the sun, because she misses like an average 10 days a month at work because of this, normally between thursday and monday, she is currently pregnant close to her due date, she must be driving the midwives to dispair... i do pity whoever needs to deal with her.

millingtonsmummy · 03/11/2010 22:36

Hi everyone.

Just wanted to say a v quick Hi & say that I'm reading all your posts but just don't seem to be able to find time to post. Harry started with chicken pox yesterday, happy we're getting it out of the way but DD being demanding on my time as she doesn't like to see Harry being constantly cuddled. Ouffff! Still it doesn't last long. Pam any sign of Alex getting it? Hope to find more time tomorrow. xx

mollycuddles · 04/11/2010 10:49

OK - another attempt at more personals

millingtonsmummy hope cp mark 2 isn't too traumatic. It probably is better to get it over with but not so easy at the time. Hope dd isn't too hard going while wee Harry is ill.

how's alex pamelat It's funny how different they all are with sleep. Molls only sleeps a decent length of time if she's out in the air. Otherwise she just cat naps and 30 mins is a long sleep for her in the day. It doesn't affect her at night though and ds was the same. dd1 slept well day and night though. I suppose 1 out of 3 was something!

wltk :) - imagine what that girl will be like with her pfb. Nightmare!

heffa eek christmas. Can't cope with that just yet. Must get Molly a stocking though. dd1 doesn't really believe but I haven't officially told her. Feel a bit sad though - end of an era! I'm not a total Scrooge and love Christmas films. Just not yet.

dancingthroughlife hope meeting the mummies went well. What are you thinking of studying? I absolutely couldn't study at the moment. Have barely managed to read a book since Molly arrived.

wow re all the moving babies - Molls has rolled over about once and wriggles around under her gym but is nowhere near getting going.

itshappenedagain ex is such an arse. Allotment sounds good. dh went through a gardening phase and the fresh veg and salad was lovely.

hi luceelou - I haven't had Molls weighed formally for ages but on our scales she's 16 lb 12 at 23 weeks. About 75th centile.

I've bought the recommended ashton powders ego but not used them yet. Should have the other night when Molls was so unsettled but forgot! Hows the sleep going?

how are you perpetually good I hope

sounds difficult re partents pigley - my mum is 72 and is having Molls for 2 hours tomorrow when dh goes to the hospital. Bit nerve-wracking, isn't it?

hi hormonalmum - good to hear from you

gotta go - as coffee calling - back later to finish

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 04/11/2010 11:17

Pigley - the Snowman is great :) DD has a knitted snowman toy and she likes to make him fly around. Although I was checking out the box this morning and apparently it's a PG! Can't think why, can't see anything potentially unsuitable in it.

Molly - I adore Christmas! It does feel a bit early but it's good to have a film we haven't watched for a while on. My Mum always had a rule at home that everyone has to believe in Father Christmas otherwise we don't get stockings (everyone who stays there on Christmas Eve always gets a stocking). It worked quite well for making the magic carry on. DD calls FC 'Santa presents' atm Hmm

mollycuddles · 04/11/2010 12:17

Back again -

heffa I don't want to tell dd1 there is no santa but she keeps asking :(

carikube that get together sounds great but a bit intimidating really. I'm in no rush with blw either but Molls keeps swiping at dd1's plate so might be ready. We'll see on 20th :)

hollyoaks - hope the weekend went well

rachel - I haven't read the blw book but think I am clear about what to do. Remember doing lego scans - blooming hurts when you stand on it in bare feet!

Hope I haven't missed anyone. Off to phone dh to see if they went to toddlers and how it went

pamelat · 04/11/2010 14:04

sorry v quick post millington its 2 weeks since DD came out in the spots and none on Alex yet. I stopped breastfeeding at about 17 weeks too but he must have somehow been immune from me

My GP friend says it would normally take 2 weeks for spots to come but could be 3 weeks, so maybe I shouldnt speak too soon!

If it helps, DD was only poorly for 2 or 3 days, and then ok, just more tired really Smile

egopostulosomnus · 04/11/2010 19:54

hi quick post
slight improvement on the sleep, she at least goes to sleep easily listening to daddy read beatrix potter

but

its all in vain Sad the growth spurt is not, got her weighed yesterday, 21 weeks, is now 13lb3, has gone from the 98thc at birth to just above the 9th. not good, but she is so healthy and thriving and developing like a little star so no one is worried (thankfully) no more weigh ins now til after weaning day

bought the most beautiful dress yesterday for virginia for christmas, ivory velvet with a fur trim and matching hat, £35!!!! down from £70, i cannot justify spending so much on something she will only wear a few times but it was so LOVELY, thankfully DH loves it too and visibly melted when i showed him the hat on so he is happy to cough up the cash lol. now i just need to set up my little studio and photograph her in it.

hollyoaks · 04/11/2010 20:29

Hi everyone, just a quick post to thank Tomlin for the tips on York. Hope the rain stays off and I can survive a weekend in close confinement with my mil and two sil's who've really peed me off today, but that's a different story.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a lovely weekend. :)

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 04/11/2010 21:12

Molly - :( must be sad. I think my mum used to just wink and refused to talk about it. My big brother probably confirmed the truth for me though, thinking about it.

Pamelat - hope Alex stays well :)

Ego - glad sleep is a bit better. Glad no-one is worrying about the weight, if she's doing well that's all that matters. She's a gorgeous little girl! The outfit sounds beautiful :)

Hollyoaks - Have a lovely weekend!

I had another lousy afternoon at this silly 2-3 group today so have finally decided to give it a rest Blush. Not sure why she goes so bonkers at it, I think it's just too much of a melting pot of frustrated 2yos.

luceeloo · 05/11/2010 10:36

Hi all,

Just checking in during a break from preparing for my PGCE interview which is in ten days. It includes Maths and English tests so have borrowed my cousins school study guides and am currently panicking by my lack of knowledge of multiplying and dividing fractions!!

Just bought Chloe a next stage Maxi Cosi car seat. She's still got 5pounds to gain before she can use it, but was on sale at mothercare so thought I'd grab it now.

Heffa - A huge group of frantic 2year olds doesn't sound like my cuppa tea right now either!

ego - as long as baby is thriving and happy, please don't worry about centiles.

pam - hope Alex stays pox free!

hollyoaks - have a good weekend.

Back later, need to get back to the books.

wouldliketoknow · 05/11/2010 12:55

hi all

all well here, just trying to study, can't you see how succesful i am?, i got an assigment to hand in wednesday, so dh promised to let me write all weekend, and he'll do haousework, of my choice, he doesn't know what he is getting into..., and have oscar too, ...
weight we are not too worry, our nice hv, says that he is proportionate and happy, so see no probs...surely the centiles are just an indication...

lucee good luck on your studies, hope you pass, i also have to revise maths for a computer program for stats Confused
heffa most two yo i know nap after lunch, groups here are in the morning or lunch time, bizarre to keep them up...
molly glad back to work went well, i wouldn't know what to say about father xmas, i was told the truth at about 7 by my cousin who was angry and used it to retaliate, he was 15 so should have known better...
bonfire night is gonna be wet here, so... we'll see how many people do fireworks in the street...
day sleep, oscar may sleep as little as half an hour or as mch as three hours in one go, at home or outside, he is unpredictable, it doesn't seem to affect his night sleep though
today, he woke up at ten, and no sleep so far, not that i am not trying...
pigley older generations have other theories about childcare, and less patient, i can trust grandparents to stay with him, don't think they will smack him, not so sure other of my wishes will be respected, you know, they always think they know best... at the end of the day, you turned up alright, ha?

i hope i don't forget anyone, oh yes, perpetually, how is it going? tell us....

who was angels friend? how are things over there?

i met up with my friend last week, and we managed it without tears... she is quite alright with the mc now, but still have some side effects for hormones and doesn't feel ready to try again, just yet, she was holding onto oscar for dear life, until he started crying and we put him in the pushchair to sleep...

ohhh. oscar is falling asleep so time for lunch?

pamelat · 05/11/2010 12:56

Hi all, spoke a day too soon. I think Alex has pox, cancelled all mumy things (so housebound with baby and toddler, arghhhh) but only 4 spots. Hope its nothing else, he seems ok really, but doing a funny growling noise and seems more tired

millingtonsmummy · 05/11/2010 20:15

Oh Pamela sorry you're entering into pox take 2 aswell. It's being housebound that's the killer isn't it! Sorry to say but Harry had 1 solitary spot on Tues eve, followed by an extra 2 on Wed and now he's covered :( There are so many on his head poor love & although he isn't scratching he's rubbing alot. Really hope Alex (& Ella) sail through it. I keep telling myself every hour is an hour closer to being rid of the pox forever! :) Sending lots of love.

Hi everyone else, wish I had time to post more but it's time to cook some dinner. xx

TomlinTowers · 05/11/2010 21:36

Hi All

Sorry to hear about the babies with the pox. DS had it about 2 months ago and it started just the same - one spot on Saturday 4 spots on Sunday, hundreds of spots [possibly exaggerating but seemed like hundreds when I was covering them with cream!]. Best of luck and hopefully they will be free soon.

Hollyoaks - good weather forecast down here until Monday I think, have a great weekend. Fireworks festival tomorrow night - might be worth popping in to see?

Good luck to everyone studying/working - I am in awe. I still have 6 months to go on mat leave and am already in a quandry about what to do when I return - 4 days but early finish, or 3 days but longer hours?? Have bored DH with same discussion for so long now that I have promised not to talk about it until after Xmas otherwise it will spoil second half of mat leave!

Hope everyone else is well. We are planning fireworks party tomorrow for family - hot dogs, bonfire to burn all garden waste, and two boxes of fireworks from Tescos - strictly only noise level one!

pigleychez · 05/11/2010 21:45

Ego- Lucy has dropped down a centile recently and the health visitor put it down to the fact that shes much more active now, kicking about etc.

The dress sounds fab! Post some pics :)
DH is buying me a posh new camera and lens for christmas! I cant wait :)

Hollyoaks- Enjoy your weekend :)

Heffa- Sorry to hear the group doesnt seem to be working for your DD.

Luceeloo- Happy studying! Maths was my worse subject at school and im still crap at it!

Pamlet- What a nightmare that Alex has it too now! But as Millington says at least it will be over and done with. ( however my friend has had it 3 times! Shock)

Well DD1 FINALLY got to go to Ballet. The new classes are fab and she loves them. Lots of dancing with teddy bears and fairy wands. She looks so cute! I was ok leaving her as parents wait in the next room and you can see her through the window in the door. She was abit unsure at first and I stayed for the first half. Was easier for me than I thought thankfully!

DH had today off and we dragged him along to soft play. Wore him out!
He's been fab today, Hes done lots of jobs and made dinner. His words were 'you do this everyday alone with the two girls, so sit down and take advantage of me being off' - Ok if you insist! Grin

Was due to have fireworks tonight but DD1 was shattered from Softplay and poor Lucy has a terrible cold. Her nose is bunged but streaming and must have a sore throat as her little cry is so rough and throaty. Poor little thing looks so rough! Shes been pretty clingy today and sleepy. Thought it best for them to have an early night instead so fireworks in the garden tomorrow night instead.

Dh is currently playing with his latest toy.(his train laptop for commuting) An Apple mac Air. Its soooo slim its amazing!

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 07/11/2010 09:32

Lucee - good luck for your PGCE exam :)

WLTK - yes, the timings always seem a bit strange. Most 2yos round here do still have a nap although my DD dropped hers at about 20 months so she doesn't have a daytime nap. She copes quite well though and doesn't seem to have a problem losing that sleep. Glad meeting your friend went well, :( for her

Pamelat - sorry to hear Alex has the pox, hope he's better soon!

Tomlin - hope you had a good fireworks party, sounds fab!

Pigley - glad your DD1 finally got to do ballet! Hope Lucy's feeling a bit better. It is a shame about the group, but I guess some things just aren't a good fit. I would persevere but tbh, there are some super-unfriendly mums there so I don't feel comfortable.

Good weekend here, been quite fun. Off to the ILs soon for lunch and then to my DSis for a bonfire :)

I'm meant to be going back to my job soon - it's very limited hours as a relief library assistant but I've been really reluctant about it. I was worried that I'd mess up BFing for the sake of a few hours a month and I wasn't sure about whether my mum was really happy to look after the DCs by herself (when she agreed to do childcare it was just DD). After speaking to mum I've decided to resign so I have to go in and speak to my line manager this week but very nervous about it :( I took the job when I was 5 weeks pregnant with DS and must look like the worst employee ever! I wish I'd never taken it tbh but got offered it out of the blue (I'd been for an interview months before when I hadn't got the job but they phoned me up and offered an alternative). Not looking forward to what is going to be a very awkward conversation. Oh well :(

Carikube · 07/11/2010 13:22

Continuing the back-to-work discussion, I'd decided not to think about it until after Xmas but DH started talking about it last night. He's now admitted that he doesn't think he'll be able to deal with them both in the mornings (I'll have to leave home at about 7am in order to finish early enough to get back to pick them up in the evenings) so he is now starting to think that it might be easier if I don't go back (we're lucky in that we don't need the money - it would just be nice). I guess this is a discussion to be continued....Grin

cupcakefairy · 08/11/2010 21:32

Quick hello from me ladies... just checking in. Ds is now having breakfast and lunch and eating very well! He never spits anything out; I can tell he's going to be a food lover!!

Sadly we heard last week that dh is being made redundant again :( second time in just over a year. He has some other possibilities but just hate this waiting and worrying game :( trying to be positive that at least it will fall around Christmas that he leaves so he'll get some quality time with ds. pigley did you hear about your dh yet?

heffa hope it goes ok talking to your manager. I know how you feel- I started a job when about 4 weeks pregnant with ds and even though that was originally on a temporary basis they want me back now and I don't think I'll be able to cos we can't afford the childcare... you do end up feeling so bad for having a baby!! I'm sure they'll be understanding though so try not to worry; it's not like you went into it saying you were committed for x number of years or whatever.

cari, tomlin etc...good luck with decisions about work! It really is such a tough choice to make.

Hope all those suffering with pox get well son!
We're off to our second swimming class tomorrow... ds cried all through last week's so relly hoping he's ok tomorrow :( so want him to enjoy swimming.

hollyoaks · 09/11/2010 08:15

Morning everyone. Just back from a great weekend with dh's family staying in a lovely huge house in Heslington near York.

Tomlin thanks for the car parking tip, that saved us some money. We had our own firework party in the back garden on Friday and a few drinks then spent Saturday at Stockeld Park. It's a lovely christmas themed outdoor park with a maze, cross-country skiing, enchanted forest, christmas shop (went a bit mad in here) and ice rink. DD1 who's only 2.10years managed to skate with out any help, I couldn't stand up, we were very proud of her. If anyone is close it's definitely worth a trip, though I would recommend going later in the day to get the full effect of all the lights. On the Sunday we went into York, first the Train museum and then shopping. We couldn't get into Betty's as there was a queue out the door and we had two buggies. Got some great stocking fillers from Hawkin's Bizaar (sp?) and a few more presents for the girls.

Work - final week off and then back on Monday, feeling pretty crap about it, wish we could afford for me to stay at home. :(

Lucee - if you want any help for your PGCE interview just shout. :)

Millington/Pamelat - hope the dc are feeling better, at least it's going to be out of the way for you.

Pigley - glad dd1 finally got to ballet :)

Cupcake - sorry your dh is being made redundant again :(. Has he got any leads on any more jobs?

Contemplating getting Grace weighed this morning and then off to toddlers but the weather is awful, lots of rain and very cold.

pamelat · 09/11/2010 09:55

millington* hope harry now ok. you were right, alex now covered, poor mites.

cupcake sorry re dh's job. My DH been made redundany 3 times in 3 years, fortunately one was a pay off but know what a worry it is.

just quick post as up hourly with alex last night. Dh being a star with this night on night off lark, thought he would get cold feet but hes better than me!

re back to work, I need to decide whether to go back (3 days a week) mid march or mid june, mid june would be no payment at all for 3 months, not sure we can do that. However 2 pogs in childcare isnt cheap. Come May DD is half funded so may wait until then.

pigleychez · 09/11/2010 13:19

Heffa- Hope the chat with your boss went ok. Id be very nervous but you have to do whats right for your family.

Crikube- Did you want to go back to work? Or are you happy to stay at home?

Cupcake- Sorry to hear about your DH's job. What a nightmare! My DH hasnt heard officialy yet but his boss has hinted that he will be ok. Fingers crossed.
Hope your DH can find somewhere else soon :(

Hollyoaks- Glad you had a great time :)

Pamlet- Hope those Pox go soon and Little Alex is ok.

Lucy started BLW at the weekend. All prompted by herself from snatching some panini from my hand and scoffing it! She seems to have excellent hand-eye co-ordination and ive seen nappy evidence that stuff is actually being eaten already!
Looks like Daddy and eats like Daddy! Grin
She was moaning yesterday when her tray was empty!

Both girls are full of cold and coughing non stop. Poor Lucy can hardly even cry shes so hoarse :( Popped out earlier for medicine so hopefully that will help soon.
Horrendous stormy weather here lately and Poor DH had to walk to the train station in it yesterday as his car battery was flat.
He then missed his train making him late for work. Bless him though, he worked through lunch so we could get home in time to help me with bedtime so we drove to pick him up to save him walking home in the rain too.

Both girls are asleep so im chilling with a doughnut on the sofa enjoying the peace :)

wouldliketoknow · 09/11/2010 14:46

hi all

we started weanning as well this week, i am following the spanish way of weanning but oscar may like blw too, so far he had a bit of orange juice with a spoon, one for me, and one for him and he can get it in his mouth too, dificult with the juice but in a couple of days we'll have banana puree, will see if he needs any help.

nasty weather here, hard to go anywhere without the car... anyway, i should be writting my essay, due tomorrow!

all those with sick babies, get well soon...

those with dh in redundance, hope something ccomes along soon...

gotta go, monster woke up after 20 whole minutes of sleep...!
