Sept 08 - Our LO's are nearly 2, and they're hiding to do a poo (is it time for potty training, not until it stops this raining)

ILTMIMI I am in Derbyshire. Its only up to -6 now Sad

House getting warmer!

carrie Good luck

Meglet · 06/12/2010 14:26

We have had a potty breakthrough. DD just did her first poo on the potty. I'm going to gradually potty train her as I think she's nearly ready, no pants until the spring though as I can barely keep on top of the washing as it is, but I will keep asking her if she needs a wee. She goes up to the big room in nursery in the spring so she can have big girls pants then .

I forgot how much I hate cleaning out poo-y potties. DS has been using the loo for months so I don't have to do any rinsing anymore . At least the poo is easier to get rid of in a nappy.

Meglet · 06/12/2010 14:29

We have freezing fog today, glad we're at home.

Has anyone else used this twitter snow map? I am obsessed with tweeting our snow status and watching the bands of snow move across the country.

CappuccinoCarrie · 06/12/2010 14:49

-9 here at midday. I'm SO COLD!!

becaroodolf · 06/12/2010 18:06

I take that back...we actually reached a "high" of -6.5 degrees Sad

Its supposed to be -15 tonight.

Not doing potty training here til spring....toby is just not ready yet.

Meglet · 06/12/2010 18:40

It's currently -3 daan saarf (as carrie would say Wink).

becaroo Does it usually get that cold (I assume it doesn't).

Kagey · 06/12/2010 20:06

-9 :( but -15 Shock ! It's a warm and toasty -2 here in Saaaf East London.

Thanks Carrie for the warning - I think I shall take her back to the dentist later this week as although she does not appear in any pain, she woke up with a bit of dried blood around her mouth this morning and no sign of where it come from.

becaroodolf · 07/12/2010 11:56

meg not usually, no.

-12 degrees this morning!!!

FGS!!!!

eandz · 07/12/2010 12:27

Congratulations to all who are potty training! I am impressed, and awed.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/12/2010 13:15

Can you keep the cold up North please Grin, it's -6 today. Cor blimey it was cold walking to toddler group this morning.

Meglet - line your potty with a couple of sheets of loo roll before your lo uses it. That way it's easier to clean post poo.

DS is really getting into doing crafty type things at the mo, especially anything involving a gluestick. He bloody loves a gluestick, although PVA is probably the ultimate - however I don't have that at home, that's for toddler group only! He will sit for about 20 mins at a time at a craft table - it's unheard of!

DebiTheScot · 07/12/2010 14:05

Only just below freezing here too. Felt very cold yest though. I went for a run last night and my ears were like ice blocks when I got back.

Went to Basingstoke this morn to go to Toys R Us and it was looking very pretty. All the trees round the ring round were covered in frost and looked beautiful. (Bet that's not something you Basingstoke folk hear every day!)
Took ds2 to Pizza Hut for lunch because we were a bit later than planned for getting home for lunch and after putting up with 2 mornings of Christmas shopping without moaning I thought he deserved it. He scoffed his pasta and then when we were leaving said "We go to Donalds now?" (as in McDonalds)!! Blush

Hoping my new laptop arrives today Smile

Meglet · 07/12/2010 22:02

debi I don't know what you mean, it's always beautiful Wink.

iltmimi Love the loo roll suggestion, thank you! How I hate traipsing across the landing / up the stairs with a poo-y potty.

Roll on Xmas I say, only 8 working days left (for me). It can't come quick enough. I was slightly pissed off at work earlier, all the people who are going to the Xmas do are allowed to leave at 3pm and don't have to come in the next day until 10am. Everyone who is not going for financial / childcare / distance to venue reasons has to work the day as normal Hmm.

Meglet · 07/12/2010 22:14

Has anyone heard from fp and hopefully lately? I hope they're ok.

DebiTheScot · 07/12/2010 22:20

lol meg

That's shocking about your christmas do!

fp is in NZ but a few people have been wondering about hopefully for a while. Someone could always pm her to see if she's ok. Or would that be weird?

becaroodolf · 08/12/2010 10:02

Only -1.5 this morning!

Positively tropical! Grin

CappuccinoCarrie · 08/12/2010 14:04

Hi all. Builders were supposed to come two hours ago to fix the worktop and grouting and of course still no sign :(
meglet that's awful about your works do!

Operation tomorrow...got butterflies now. The endo pain has continued to be bad all week. It doesn't seem worth doing the pg test in the morning, except that its day 27 and if there's even the remotest chance that I could be pg then I don't want to risk it. I hate seeing bfn's but at least this time I'm fully expecting it rather than having even the tiniest hope it would be anything else.
I'm trying to ignore tomorrow and all that it holds, and focus on the following three days when I plan to watch a lot of tv, do a lot of knitting, and write my Christmas cards! That's if I'm not off my face on codeine.

becaroodolf · 08/12/2010 16:16

Good luck carrie Will be thinking of you tomorrow x

CappuccinoCarrie · 08/12/2010 17:26

Thanks Bec :)
The builders phoned to say they'll come tomorrow instead (phoning instead of just not turning up is progress of sorts) so that might be a nice treat when I get home from hospital to find the kitchen finished?!!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/12/2010 19:33

Good luck for tomorrow Carrie, I'll be thinking of you. I'll also be an enternal optomist and keep my fingers crossed for a bfp for you.

I remember cyber stalking hopefully not that long ago and she was on Twitter and all seemed ok.

meglet - things like that always used to happen in the office I worked for. You get penalised for actually working and not partying Confused

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 08/12/2010 21:06

Hope all goes ok tomorrow carrie. At least it's out of the way before xmas.

I'm so thrilled as C is on day 6 of no nappies and hasn't had an accident since sunday. She has taken to it like she's never worn nappies! Am gobsmacked as was dreading potty training.

All the ladies on my TTC thread are getting bfps and I'm not Sad

Meglet · 08/12/2010 21:36

debi well remembered, fp is doing her mad trip down under and house moving thing!

All the best for tomorrow carrie.

Shall I put vodka in my mineral water bottle at work tomorrow, it will compensate for not being able to go to the party and having to stay at my desk Grin

digitalgirl · 08/12/2010 22:28

Hi ladies, interesting to hear all the potty training talk. I was thinking of trying the Xmas, but then thought the idea of ds having wet clothes while we were out in the cold might be not be great.
But then on Monday he asked his cm to take him to the toilet to do a wee! Then yesterday asked to be taken 5 times. Then today asked to go several times! So looks like ds is toilet training himself.
Like meglet we won't be doing pants until spring, but we'll get some pull ups for the day and keep him in a nappy at night.

So typical of ds, everything always on HIS terms. Grin

He still wakes several times a night and is rubbish at going to sleep early - but wees and poos in the toilet.

mrsa sorry to see you Sad. I've banned myself from the conception threads for the moment as I'm not ttc. I get enough pg announcements in real life as it is. Am still waiting for af after my miscarriage (6 weeks now and no temp rise). Frustration is not a strong enough word to describe how I feel.

CappuccinoCarrie · 09/12/2010 08:13

I'm so sorry to post this after DG's post but...my operation was cancelled today...because I got a bfp
Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock
I was so convinced I wasn't pg because of the pain I've been in this month (and because after 11 months of trying it was looking increasingly unlikely!!) but I had a test in the house and thought I'd do it just to confirm that I really wasn't pg before the op...and it was positive!!! AF isn't even due until tomorrow or Sat (cycle varies between 28 and 29 days) so its very early days. I phoned the hospital who said they'd cancel my op today but I could phone the consultant's secretary any time in the next 2 weeks to rearrange if I needed, so I haven't dropped off the list altogether.
Just speechless and in shock. Suppose I ought to phone my parents....

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 09/12/2010 09:34

Oh Carrie yayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayayay!!!

Life finds a way.

Am so pleased for you and so envious too!

What with you and the ladies on my charting thread, please let it be mine turn this month!
Downside is AF is due on xmas day, so that could scupper drinking. If it's not meant to be, i hope af comes early so i get have a nice drink with lunch.

But seriously, enough about me me me - we've only been TTC for 3 cycles, so many congrats to you Carrie. Have a great day :)

becaroodolf · 09/12/2010 09:48

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS CARRIE am just so delighted for you. Was feeling all fed up this morning - This has made my day!!!! Smile

mrsa fingers crossed for you x

DG am very impressed at the autonomous potty training! After my last mc (Dec 2007) I was dreading xmas. REALLY dreading it. And you know what? I had a lovely time....just tried to focus on what I had and not what I wanted IYSWIM? Not easy, I know. Thinking of you x
