Sept 08 - Our LO's are nearly 2, and they're hiding to do a poo (is it time for potty training, not until it stops this raining)

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 25/11/2010 19:32

DebiTheScot · 25/11/2010 20:05

testing. Just wrote a big post and it jumps to the talk page when I hit post.So trying a different message

DebiTheScot · 25/11/2010 20:16

weird. It won't post my message that I copied and pasted. Lets try it in bits.

Thanks eandz I'm on my way Grin Dh is settled on the sofa watching the American football! I'm loving that you celebrate every big festival!

DebiTheScot · 25/11/2010 20:27

I thought I was being good this year but I made the mistake of getting most of ds1s stuff before getting him to write his christmas list. Then I discovered that most of the family had also alredy bought stuff (they're pretty good and don't go mad with stuff) and so most of his list (which wasn't even a big list) he wasn't getting.

Meglet · 25/11/2010 20:48

DS has asked for a (tape) measure, banana and chocolate. Easy peasy Grin.

DD hasn't asked for anything but is getting upsy-daisy hair clips and a toy tea party set.

I bought DD a pink tutu today. It will be her party season outfit and she can wear it with long sleeve t-shirts and cosy boots.

Happy Thanksgiving eandz Smile.

MelT76 · 25/11/2010 21:17

Happy Thanksgiving EandZ.

Callum asked for roller skates. Damn you Mickey Mouse!

becaroo · 25/11/2010 21:45

Happy thanksgiving eandz x

dc havent asked for much...I've just gone mad Grin

DebiTheScot · 25/11/2010 21:54

I've discovered why my long post didn't work. It was just the last bit that I gave up on in the end. It was because I had pound signs in it. They don't work apparently.

DS1 is getting Buzz (got with tesco vouchers ages ago), a half price hot wheels track and the playmobil take along police station that was 12 pounds in their damaged box sale.
DS2 getting Jessie, some farm stuff and maybe a brolly.

eandz · 26/11/2010 12:35

:) was a decent thanksgiving last night. Thank you for the wishes. It means a great deal to me.

I think for Christmas this year I want to do charity? Where we do volunteering, donate blood, help out locally and then let N have one outfit, one toy and then a roasted meal.

I know, I'm supper cheap and when he's grown he'll hate me for his meager xmas experiences.

so we've got him off of pringles. It was HARD! He's still eating very little, but I suppose he'll eventually find something else he likes and give more foods a try.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/11/2010 13:18

I think I must have done the same as you debi, as I posted last night and it's not there. I think I was wittering on about how much I had spent on ds fro xmas, so I probably used a pound sign.

Glad you had a good Thanks Giving EandZ, and congratulations on the pringle weaning. It's tough but very satisfying, isn't it?

becaroo · 26/11/2010 13:24

Well done on the weaning off pringles eandz

Meglet · 26/11/2010 13:40

eandz He won't remember his meagre Xmas experiences. I'm still getting away with it this year, next year it will all change when DS is at school but I keep it to a minimum.

CappuccinoCarrie · 26/11/2010 13:48

eandz you're teaching him about christmas being about giving which is something I aspire to but very much doubt we will achieve!

Off to an illuminated winter walk later, can't wait Grin

eandz · 26/11/2010 15:41

oh girls, the pringle weaning experience has been horrible, but at least we're done with it.

i think it was just knowing that i AM the Mama and he IS the Child -- and he will have to yield or starve (with regards to his food choices)...

Also I watched this tv show called 'worlds strictest parents' and realized, not only were you girls right; but i need to grow up. There can't be two children in this relationship.

this lesson has been worth every pringle in the worlds weight in gold.

...

As far as my charity xmas, i know my son will see through the idea of charity and realize it's all because deep down i'm a gigantic cheapskate, but i hope he won't mention it till i'm ready for the confrontation.

becaroo · 26/11/2010 20:17

eandz Thing is, N wont really care too much til he starts school and the comparisons start....sadly ds1 wants lots of nintendo type things this year Sad The days of plastic stuff off e bay are gone for me Sad

Despite telling my mum not to get me anything this year (she has spent a lot on the dc) she and my sis were whispering and furtively sneaking plastic bags up the stairs whilst I popped in earlier so no doubt she has completely ignored me!

Just had a hot bath and am now watching "Edwardian Farm"....bliss!

CappuccinoCarrie · 26/11/2010 20:37

bec that sounds lovely...unless they're prone to buying crap things you don't need...?
Mum asked what I want for christmas, my answer was a coffee machine and a day off (preferably involving a trip to a spa and a massage). I expect I'll get debenhams vouchers!

eandz we're all learning parenting on the job, you're doing just great :)

becaroo · 26/11/2010 21:12

carrie hmmm...last year it was an apron! A nice one though....

I am desperate for a kindle. Maybe not this year though!

Meglet · 26/11/2010 21:22

carrie Do you have loads of snow Smile?

Debs75 · 27/11/2010 12:15

Eandz that is a lovely thing to do, unfortunately dp and his family are very materialistic or i would do the same. and good luck with the food choices, he will get there in the end.

We have about 3" of snow (north east) but for once the council is prepared and most of the roads are clear.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/11/2010 12:47

We've only had a few flurries here, so I'm very Envy of people who have snow. The wellies and sledge are ready, we just need the snow Grin

I'm liking the idea of asking for a day off as a present, I don't know why I hadn't thought of that before.........

Bec is a kindle one of those electronic book things from Amazon? (I am aware I sound like a dinosaur asking that question Blush )

eandz · 27/11/2010 22:38

...So N has decided that it is now the time to start playing with poo.

yesterday was his first episode. we thought it was a one off. 24 hours later he did it all over again. I'm reading things on babycenter and they are suggesting a cold shower-- but that seems a little too traumatic to me.

anyone else going through this?

**also, I'm a little envious of all the snow!

Meglet · 27/11/2010 22:45

eandz One of ds's friends did that for a long time IIRC. He would get it on the skirting boards and on one occasion under the door Shock. My poor friend was at her wits end with it, I think he was shouted at after a while but I can't remember when he stopped doing it. He is a lovely little boy by the way, just had an icky habit for a while!

I don't like the idea of a cold shower for them though Shock.

Maybe cut back on the toys and books that N can get it on, less cleaning that way Confused.

Is he getting his clothes off or wriggling his hands into his nappy to do it?

eandz · 27/11/2010 23:08

he's just sticking his hands down his diaper. i've put him into a onsy (i think babygrow) but yesterday he had managed to undo the buttons and still get to it. Today he got to it through the leg of his diaper after he undid his pants.

he's also doing the stripping thing in the evenings.

eandz · 27/11/2010 23:09

I just posted a thread on this in behavior ...
