Hope you like the hospital MrsD.

HM - congrats! (again - posted on your birth announcement thread). Hope ds1 is ok now.

MrsDoolittle · 24/01/2006 12:22

Thanks HD!

It was very cosy actually

fennel · 24/01/2006 19:52

well done Hunker. (said that on one of the several other threads but there are so many recent Hunker threads i can't keep up )

where is HMC? i would be interested in hearing about her transition to full time SAHM-dom. anyone seen her around?

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 25/01/2006 16:41

I have a march 04 ds - cant find a thread for that though - can I join this one, pretty please!

fennel · 25/01/2006 18:38

hi tamba welcome, there are a couple of march babies on here too.

dolbear48 · 25/01/2006 19:27

hello Tamba -
nice to hear from you !
well I still can not hear anything out of my right ear rraaahhh
have read HM thread all v eventful and exciting !! know exactly how she feels as had v similar blood sugar baby situ with ds he took the 1st feed of the boob , but then lost interest not that you'd know it to look @ him now ! lump
we have success with eating as a whole now - how stressful is that ?? ! feeding I mean
i was ready for everything - poo , no sleep , noise etc etc but I always thought - child hungry - child eats - not that simple though - oh no
now am thinking - potties and i have not a clue keep looking @ ds and then the portty and I have no idea how to put the two together , am hoping for divine inspiration , may wait for the hot weather !

hewlettsdaughter · 25/01/2006 20:06

Welcome Tamba - 'course you can join!

Dolbear - I'd let your ds lead, if I were you - if he has seen other kids using a potty at toddler group or nursery or wherever, that's always a good start. Does he know when he's doing a wee or a poo? (By the way, if I sound like an expert, I'm not - ds was trained by his childminder mostly!)

DD (my April toddler) has got chicken pox! Her childminder pointed out the spots to me when I picked her up today (one of her other mindees had it recently). She's got loads of spots - but seems ok at the moment (I hope things stay that way!)

Haven't seen HMC, Fennel. When did she stop work?

MrsDoolittle · 25/01/2006 20:25

Hi Tamba Have seen you around on the board.

HD - have you got your book back yet? I was a bit late sending it but I posted it last week. Hope things are okay on the chicken pox front. Has ds had them yet?

dolbear - I share your sentiments on the potty thing. Can't face the thought yet. Still trying to get my head around the fact I am (hopefully) going to have another baby in just over 3 weeks. My scan yesterday revealed he is now the same size as dd when she was born. He is also lying spine to spine, not so good.

I wore my dungarees to work today!! I did feel underdressed for work but I have outgrown all my other maternity clothes, so what can I do?

hewlettsdaughter · 25/01/2006 20:30

So is it lots of kneeling on all fours for you for a while now MrsD? Hope the baby turns for you in time. Got the book yesterday - thanks! (did email you).

Re the pox - we're not sure whether ds has had it or not. A friend of his had it once and we thought he might have had one or two spots but it wasn't clear. Expect we'll find out soon enough!

MrsDoolittle · 25/01/2006 20:47

Thanks HD -I haven't checked my e-mail yet, came straight onto MN. Is that sad or what?

Well MW said baby has plenty of space which is why is is enjoying himself floating around in my 'baggy' uterus. She suspects he might just turn around as I go into labour. He's atill bouncing around at the moment.

hewlettsdaughter · 25/01/2006 20:55

Sounds promising then... that's good

tracyk · 26/01/2006 09:52

Welcome Tamba - my ds is also a March 04 baby. can't believe he's almost 2!!
Had a look at Cod's potty training and she reassured me that at 22 mo - ds is too young to start potty training. Am going to wait till he's much older and go straight to the loo. Can't bear potties!
Went to physio yesterday for weak pelvic floor - how enlightening! here's for a leak free summer!

Dottydot · 26/01/2006 11:13

Hello all! We're waiting for ds2 to come with chicken pox any day now - ds1 got it 10 days ago and is fine now, so we can't believe ds2 won't have caught it...

He's started in the next nursery class today - I'm really nervous!! He's there for 4 hours today so I'll be phoning this afternoon to see how he's got on. Am v. embarrassed as he's got a new habit of starting sentences with "Do you know what..." - sounds really common - he's got it from me!! He sounds like a really gossipy toddler!

fennel · 26/01/2006 12:02

i got a potty out of the loft for dd3. she laughed at it. but dd2 has been demonstrating and now dd3 will still on it after her bath and thinks she's very clever. she doesn't do anything, just sits. IME she's not really ready at all though and i don't plan to do any more than this for a few months.

fennel · 26/01/2006 12:02

Dot am sure your ds2 will be fine, he'll probably love the rough and tumble of a 2 year old room.

Dottydot · 26/01/2006 12:28

ooh no - no potty training until at least the summer - if not next year! Looking back on the traumas we had with ds1, who didn't train until he was 3 1/2, at least we went straight to the toilet and bypassed potties altogether - much better!!

fennel · 26/01/2006 12:30

i am inclined to try potty training at around 2, heartened by two fairly easy experiences with dd1 and dd2. but dd3 of course may be different. and I certainly can't be bothered to push it if she doesn't seem ready.

potty better than nappies.
nappies however far better than trauma and stress.

anyamy · 26/01/2006 21:10

hi i'm new to this-
i have a april 04 ds and i am having a real struggle with potty training! so you can imagine how relieved i was to catch this thread!he can control his bladder but he has decided that he just prefers nappys-and tells me so! if i leave him nappy free he uses apotty as and when, if i put pants on he stands over potty and wees through them (lol) if he has clothes on he just wees...anywhere. should i just let him do it at his own pace? just feel as though perhaps i'm not making enough effort.
oops sorry, that was a bit of a rant...

hunkermunker · 26/01/2006 21:19

Hiya Tamba - DS1 was due in March (24th) but not born till April (3rd) so I'm both March and April kind of too

Hi Anyamy - welcome to the April 04 thread.

MrsD, hope your baby turns soon. It's amazing how quickly you forget being heavily pregnant, if that's any consolation!

DH and I took both boys to local shopping centre this afternoon - lady in M&S couldn't believe I was out and about with an 8-day-old baby Nor could I really - I was still shell-shocked last time round (for about the first six months or so...!).

DS1's being very sweet with DS2 - he grabbed his foot today and said "foot" and he's been patting him really gently.

Am NOT potty training until it's warmer and DS2 is older. DS1 has no comprehension of weeing or pooing so I'd just be causing lots of stress. He takes a little while to begin to do things usually, but then masters it very quickly. Fingers crossed potty training's like that too!

Chuffed · 27/01/2006 03:02

Hey just checking in to say still alive but very little time to spare.
Things going OK, had tons of stress with this blasted birth then another 4days in hospital last week with a uterus infection and so milk is virtually non-existant and therefore on medication and pumping etc and ds is on formula top ups
dd still a star, has taken it all in her stride, just ignores him mainly, gives him a little kiss sometimes and likes to help hold his bottle and fetch nappies.
She is a right chatterbox, sings songs and has started reciting the page of bear hunt when they tip toe into the cave which is her favourite page. She also says I love you to you which is rather lovely.
Better go - take care - MrsD not long to go
HM - congrats!

dolbear48 · 27/01/2006 08:56

oh bless you chuffed
The WHIOLE WORLD knows when ds is pooing as lately his poos goty a little harder - not too hard but you would think they were made of stone with all the fuss and noise , think he is a little frightened after he got stuck , if he has his nappy off and pees on the floor he gets a cloth and tries to mop it up - bless think I may well go stright to the toilet as is easier for DH to 'demonstrate '
sorry have no experience to help as is 1st time and am completly lost

hewlettsdaughter · 27/01/2006 09:12

Hi all - nice to hear from you both, Chuffed and HM, and welcome anyamy! Definitely not worth stressing about potty training yet, IMHO. If they show interest, it's worth having a potty around. If they even sit on it at this stage, you're doing pretty well. Dolbear - do you plan to teach ds to wee standing up then? We/the childminder taught ds to wee sitting down first. I don't know what others with boys do.

DD covered in spots (chicken pox). We had a horrible night last night.

tracyk · 27/01/2006 09:32

Outbreak of hand foot and mouth at ds nursery - lets hope he doesn't catch it! 7-10 days off nursery if he does and I don't have the time to take off work as am working notice now as we have sold house and are off back up to scotland at the end of March!!

fennel · 27/01/2006 13:08

tracyk - i saw you were selling your house on another thread - where are you moving in Scotland?

sorry to hear about all the sick toddlers.
