That's great news lunavix - hope the next few weeks go by quickly for you!

MrsD - I can't remember what I lent you. Was it the Kate Figes book? I wouldn't mind that back if so (no rush though).

Of course, Fennel, when I say dd imitates my sing-song Big Pig etc, only I can tell what she's trying to do . Dd went for one of her two visits related to the language study she is in yesterday and only managed to say "yeah" and "mama" while playing games with the researcher.

That's the book! I'll post it back to you HD, will you send me your address please?

tracyk · 05/01/2006 11:02

Hooray Yorkiegirl. I hope you have tiles on the bathroom floor! ds loved staying at his granma's house as her bathroom is tiled from floor to ceiling and he could splash to his hearts content.

Dottydot · 06/01/2006 13:45

Awww - ds2 is moving up to the next group at nursery in a couple of weeks - he's going to be a tiddler (and not an active baby!). I know it's good as he's more than ready, but I suppose it means he's growing up...

lunavix · 06/01/2006 17:40

aww dot

Is anyone else thinking about pre-school yet? I've found two I'm interested in but they are SOOO different with different pluses and faults that it's hard to choose. Waiting lists around here are hefty so I need to pull my finger out!

hi everyone. Good luck with the pregnancy Lunavix. Still ttc here. Trying not to let it get me down but you know how it is.

fennel · 06/01/2006 19:47

dot - clearly it's time to start thinking about no 3

lunavix, if you're thinking about state pre-school and school, they are legally only allowed to start the waiting lists 12 weeks before the start date. which would be nearly 2 years from now I guess. at that time they decide based on the school criteria (proximity, religious background etc).

dd3 already thinks she's ready for pre-school, having spent so much time visiting it when we take the others to and fro.

lunavix · 07/01/2006 21:04

fennel - 2 years from now?? I'm talking for ds not bump!!!!

I've found two I like, we will have visits soon. One has a gorgeous new purpose built area with new rooms, a huge outdoor play area, all brand new toys and lovely. And when I rang the woman all she did was go on about forms. Think it's dearer too. All ds's friends go there but I don't think it will hurt for him to make new ones tbh.

The other is a horrible hole of a room, with manky old toys in a side bit of a church! But the woman on the phone was lovely, told me in detail every bit of their day, what they'd learn, all about the staff, how they settle the kids in and she was totally uninterested in paperwork! And it would be soooo much easier to get to.

So I have no idea lol!

lunavix · 07/01/2006 21:06

LJ - don't let it get you down. I was panicking, I have specific plans for my childrens ages and was so sure ds would end up an only child which I personally am against. So far so good, but I'm still not counting chickens till 12 weeks.

Dottydot · 08/01/2006 09:28

ds2 will be going to state playgroup for 2 mornings a week from September - which is when ds12 starts primary school, so dp will have a glorious 2 mornings a week of peace and quiet! (and our nursery bills halve!!!)

I think i'm calling something else pre-school - does it have different meanings in different areas? round here what you're all talking about is called playgroup, i think. not sure.

Lucyjones good luck with the ttc.

me too - ds2 goes to playgroup from September, then pre-school the year after (then school the year after that!!).

And Fennel - how did you know that's exactly what dp and I have been talking about?!! (I think it's still a no, but we're wavering..!).

fennel · 09/01/2006 09:09

dot - go for it! i am trying to bring everyone else down to my level of chaos, it makes me feel better when others are also wallowing in too many toddlers.

lunavix can you visit both preschools/playgroups for a morning to see how much you and ds like them?

Dottydot · 09/01/2006 11:05

noooooo!!! One of our big 'issues' is that if one of us has another, the other one will want another one aswell - and we CAN'T have 4!!!

lunavix · 09/01/2006 13:25

Oh!

Round here playgroup is just the thing you go to with your little ones (like 'toddler groups' 'mums and babies' ?) preschool is when they're 2.5 till they start primary school (although some schools take at 3 or 4 which is nursery school and attached to the school!) does that make sense?

So I'm looking at preschools.. I've booked in visits... still worried lol! Wish there was a third option!

hewlettsdaughter · 10/01/2006 19:59

Hey all, and well done Chuffed's ds. Sorry to hear about your xmas dolbear (is your sister ok now?). Good luck for Monday.

All this talk of playgroups, pre-school etc is very confusing, isn't it? I think dd will probably stay with her childminder until school reception class age, although hopefully she will start going to some pre-school nursery sessions (at the school near the childminder) once she is three.

tracyk · 11/01/2006 09:33

School is sooo confusing. ds is now the oldest and biggest in the babyroom and they won't move him up to the next class as there is no room for him, plus he's not due to go till March. I'm sure he must be bored out of his mind.
He is sleeping loads these days - must be doing a lot of growing. He sleeps 2-2.5 hours in the day and then 7.30-7am at night. Don't really mind - but we get nothing done in the afternoons as he sleeps so long!
