At least you are getting some sleep hunker - enjoy those late mornings while you can

Does anyone know if KristinaM has had her baby?

dolbear48 · 15/01/2006 19:22

fingers crossed HM - have got to be @ hospital @ 7.45am for op - yuk and ds might not even have it as he has the snots raaaa

fennel · 15/01/2006 20:53

i think Kristina M had her baby very overdue but that knowledge is due to a of lurking on the pregnancy threads so i'm not really sure of any details.

how much longer for Mrs D? a few weeks?

dd3 is teething a molar this weekend. she's very miserable. we'd got very used to having undisturbed nights so it's a bit of a shock to be woken by an inconsolable baby. i'd chucked out all the teething gels too.

tracyk · 16/01/2006 08:47

bugger - I threw out all the teething powders yesterday!!

lunavix · 16/01/2006 13:18

ds is teething and has TONSILLITUS AGAIN ARGHHHHH

I think mrsD is another couple of weeks....

What's everyone doing about buggies? We just sold ds's big 3 wheeler (it's too bulky now we think) and we're thinking about buggies for new baby. When (fingers crossed) its born, ds will be 2.4 - and while we want him to walk then, if we went out for the day he can't walk all day can he..... and I think it's still too small to walk OR buggy board...

Does that mean we have to get a double buggy? I love the e3 but we're discussing practicallity as I think he will be a wee bit old for a new buggy with a seat especially for him!

I love the maclaren mod quest ones (with the coloured rings!) but they're only suitable from 3 months. We were thinking one of those plus a buggyboard, and just having ds in a seperate stroller if necessary.. but rubbish! 3 months!
Argh.

LucyJones · 16/01/2006 13:21

I think we'll have to get a double pushchair as ds still doesn't just walk. he does a combination of walking and crawling!! Hopefully by September he will just be walking but I can't stand the idea of it taking 2 hours to walk into town especially as with ds I used to push him everywhere to get him to sleep in the day at the beginning!! We've been at casualty today as poor ds has very sore and painful bits. We thin it's infected from a nasty overnight nappy not discovered until the morning. So he's on cream and oral antiobiotics.

fennel · 16/01/2006 13:38

double buggies were one of my least favourite things about having children close together in age. but getting a toddler to walk very far without complaining is also not one of my success stories. dd3 is quite keen on walking now but she's so slow we never get anywhere. our walks include lots of diversions into everyone else's gardens.

2.4 is sort of marginal for needing a double buggy. i'd have used one at that stage but in my dreams they start walking well by about 2 and a half. note, only in my dreams.

hewlettsdaughter · 16/01/2006 13:46

Ah-ha, someone else's little one who doesn't respect boundaries while out walking. I suppose there's no reason why they should...

Hope ds gets better quickly Lucy. And dolbear - hope the op has gone ok (if your ds did have it in the end).

dolbear48 · 16/01/2006 13:54

urg how anoying ! sorry to hear that

ds did not have op today as had a slight temp - pants ! so now have to go through the build up all over again and I was a complete ( controlled in mum type way ) the 1st time !!!

MrsDoolittle · 16/01/2006 14:02

Hi Ladies. I'm intrigued about Hunker too.
I was 35 weeks as of yesterday, just starting one of 3 weeks left at work. I'm 'all in front' apparently.
One of my students that I haven't seen in a while saw me this morning and said, "What happened to you?" in apparent shock.
Me: "I ate a rather large stone!"

Dh says he wants his wife back. I just want to be able to bend down without panting na dgetting out of bed not to be an operation. Oh and I really miss lying on my stomach to sleep. I am feeling really stretchedlately, it's making my tummy itch!
However, dd is sleeping really well at the moment. She seems to love her new nursery and sleeping space. We slept until 9.30 am yesterday

As for double buggies. I bought misdee's E3 from her. It's great, it really has revolutionised our wlks outside, it's so easy to push. We were thinking along the same lines as you Lunavix for ages, should we shouldn't we but dd simply wasn't going to be able to walk long distances. Neither can she walk in straight line.
I park the car almost outside the door when I pick her up form nursery but she won't walk straight to it. She has to run around it or off in a completely different direction with me looking like a beached hippo chasing after!!
Besides she likes the E3 too

MrsDoolittle · 16/01/2006 14:04

Posts crossed.
Sorry about that dolbear - it must be very stressful. I hope it's over and done with soon. Best wishes to you xxxx

dolbear48 · 16/01/2006 16:10

aaahhh thanks mrs , yep just want it over with the over helpful nurse told us that next time when they put the gas over hime to get him sleepy b-4 the needle if he fights then thats better as it works quicker - feel even worse now
sos to hear that you are getting fed up - even worse when people say not long now when each day starts to feel longer so I will just say , another day done !

LucyJones · 17/01/2006 19:09

hope it goes quick for you MrsD. Dolbear - I can't remember what operation your ds was having? Hope he is ok xxx

fennel · 17/01/2006 20:55

bad luck on the op dolbear, hope it goes better next time

and lucyjones, hope ds is better now.

any news from Hunker?

E3s are lovely MrsD. that would be my choice of double buggy.
you have reminded me how much more fun it is chasing a sprinting-in-opposite-direction toddler when NOT pregnant! dd3 can really make tracks when our backs are turned now. i spend a lot of time haring after her.

LucyJones · 17/01/2006 20:56

Thanks Fennel -ds much better now although not too impressed with supposedly banana flavoured anti-biotics!!

hewlettsdaughter · 18/01/2006 09:05

Now bananas I like but artificial banana flavouring - ugh! Your ds has taste Lucy

My dd, having not said many words up until now, is now in that sudden flurry of language where she is trying lots of new words at once. I love this stage.

dolbear48 · 18/01/2006 12:21

ds is doing the talking and looking at me as if I am stupid because I do not understand him thing he actualy sighs
ds was having op on his bits as they have a hibit of wandering and has poss twisting issue which men have told me is not good got new date of 20th feb
agree on that fake banana taste medicine u would have thought that it get better over time - would seem not however maybe we could lobby the gov ??

hewlettsdaughter · 18/01/2006 12:56

Down with banana flavouring!

Hunker has gone into hospital ...

fennel · 18/01/2006 14:48

bananas - bleurgh.

banana-flavoured medecine - double bleurgh.

poor child.

LucyJones · 19/01/2006 12:56

congratualtions HunkerMunker

lunavix · 19/01/2006 13:30

well done hunker!!!

If the banana medicine is amoxycillin I LOVE IT. I don't think it tastes like banana flavouring though. I remember it from being a kid and I could drink it out the bottle now! But I won't!

Ds won't take medicine. No amoxyillin, no calpol, nothing. Hates the lot. Doctor wouldn't give us any more suppositiries though so we're lucky that even though he had his mmr yesterday he appears fine.

dolbear48 · 19/01/2006 18:39

we have to sneak all medicines into the milk and even then he gets wise sometime HM thread v exciting not sure I could have held comms on MN while in labour but then big woose!
got new op date of 20.02 yeh is the next MMR jab due then ? compltely loose track

MrsDoolittle · 19/01/2006 22:14

Oh how I envy Hunkermunker! I was trying to explain to dh; the only reson we look forward to going into labour is to overcome the sheer discomfort of hulking around the massive shape that is my abdomen. Infact it gets to a point where labour is simply the lesser of the two evils.
How I ache today.
Please remind me ladies, if I ever mention it again, that NO this is not what I want to!!

Huge congratulations to you Hunkermunker!!

LucyJones · 19/01/2006 22:35

Poor MrsD - sorry to hear you're suffering. Are you working or on maternity leave?

MrsDoolittle · 20/01/2006 12:00

I'm at home today, but I should be doing some work. Instead I am sitting here at almost midday still in my dressing gown having only just got up. I was tried last night and I couldn't sleep. I fell asleep once dh had gone to work and taken dd to nursery.

Poor little girl! Dh brought her to me when I was still asleeep in bad. She stood beside my bed rubbing my arms saying, "Okay? Are you okay?" in her cute, hardly understandable English

I'm going to visit a community hospital on Tuesday with a view to having #2 there
