charleypops · 28/08/2005 10:17

Hi Hub - have emailed you

Hope all you Junies are well, will post later x

lummox · 28/08/2005 10:19

Charley - don't want to bring the wrath of the rest of mumsnet back down on us Junies, but wanted to say I was v impressed by your posts.

lummox · 28/08/2005 10:25

Mandy - I'd also like some advice on putting the baby down earlier. At the moment, we usually bath him at eight, then feed for about an hour and he goes to sleep. I know the normal advice is to move it gradually back, but that's difficult because I think it's partly the fact that it gets dark that means he goes down (we're in France so an hour later - not sure what time it gets dark back in blighty).

Also at the moment, ds only has one good, long sleep (for me that means 6 hours by the way - can't beleive all the June bubs who sleep through the night) and we really need to take advantage of as much of it as possible. So if he did his six hours from 6 pm it would be a bit of a disaster, as then he would be awake every two hours from then on.

MrsWednesday · 28/08/2005 21:07

EYM, all the very best of luck with your tests, it must be very nerve-wracking for you all but I will be sending positive vibes. Blimey, five sisters, must have been chaotic in your house! We are coming over to your neck of the woods tomorrow, having a trip to the Deep (and my in-laws live in Cottingham).

Perhaps we could have the next meet-up in Leeds, then EYM, you could come over on the train as it's only about an hour.

Tea and Lua: the f*ing 'whys' have started!!! Oh my god, it's driving me potty already and he only started doing it this morning. I've already told DS1 several times to stop asking stupid questions, which isn't very encouraging to the poor lad's enquiring mind, but he doesn't listen to my answers, he just keeps repeating 'why?' to everything I say. It hasn't helped that DH has been away since 9am this morning and won't be back until tomorrow....am having a glass of white wine now to chill out, feel like I deserve it

Lummox, how old is your DS now? Would a 'dream feed' help at all? Perhaps if you got him to bed a little bit earlier you could feed him about 11 without properly waking him up, then you might get your 6 hours in the middle of the night when you need it. Apologies if you're already doing this.

Have a lovely time in Amsterdam Trib.

Right, off to drink my wine and chill out for a while.

Lua · 28/08/2005 21:20

mrsW. - My deepest sympathies, and welcome to the 'why club'1 it is insane isn't? after 20 or 30 whus i sometime ask her - why what? and she doesn't even remember anymore.... try returning back to him... like why do you think? or htry finishing with a definitive - that's why! sometimes it works...
At any rate, you deserve a big pat in the back for handling both by yourself!! i am exhausted after going to the zoo with 2 and i had dh with me the whole time! i can't believe tomorrow is a holiday... I am ready to send dd to nursery .
she has been a darling lately though (fingers crossed the horrible tantrums are over), and said ilove you for the first time on her own this week. very sweet!!

Enjoy your wine!

MrsWednesday · 28/08/2005 21:32

I actually resorted to turning the question back at him and he just said 'because it is' . But he's not happy when I give that answer!

So pleased your DD has (touch wood) come through the worst of it. I agree about nursery by the way, can't believe they aren't open on bank holidays...

bubbaloo · 28/08/2005 22:31

evening all,

havent been on here for a couple of days and already so much to catch up on.

well done to Lua and Pink on your test results.i passed my driving test over 10 years ago and was so excited.havent driven for about 5 of those, though.

MrsW-glad to hear your ds is settling into his own room ok.must be great to have your bedroom back to yourselves.

Trib-hope you enjoy amsterdam!!

Lua-did you get the car seat sorted out?
i think it's probably a touch of jealousy.although my cats haven't done anything like that, the younger one has started clawing the wallpaper and while i was pg she used to hide and wouldn't stay in the same room as us.the vet sais she was susffering from depression, pending the birth!!

EYM-hope the tests all go well for you and your sisters.xx

Katz-havent recieved the vouchers yet.did you get my email ok? .

well..im absolutely shattered.got up at 4am this morning to do a boot sale.havent done one for years and i certainly won't be in a rush to do another one soon.only took £85 and didnt sell one pair of curtains,so still have 450 pairs sitting in the garage-ha ha! also ended up getting sunburnt which isnt much fun either-just come out of the bath looking like a lobster.
did buy ds a brand new mothercare sleeping bag though for only a fiver,so really chuffed about that.

hope everyone is having a great weekend.

eastyorksmum · 28/08/2005 23:14

Evening junies hugssssssss

well had a better day today hubbys mum is lovely shes 76 as well still as bright as a button, loves william to bits keeps saying now just leave him he has to learn lol old school william just looks at her puzzled. last week she kept raising her voice to him we dont do that lol very funny.

Thank you for caring mums its really nice to know i can come and talk about the tests as i am as you can imagine very frightened that i may have the gene going over to see my next youngest sister tomoror and talk it through with her hopefully.

Mrs W never been to the Deep and mum lived in cottingham as for the train to leeds for a meet might be nice idea, when i feel more like going out.

Think im going to ask Health visitor about mother and baby groups near me.

I am a Nursery Nurse a baby room supervisor but havnt worked since mum died, so i might call on some on my old friends see if they know any.

On that note how do you all feel about geting back to work? and whos considering a private nursery?
Me and hubby were talking and im not too keen taking william to work with me as i would be to hands on I think

As there only one nursery i would take my baby to I know the managers personally but this is quite far from where i live.

I know how other mums felt leaving their babies with me now, and i would always work with the mums and help them to make the transition easier.

My friend who is also nursery nurse is now thinking of chlidmimding instead of going back to work and shes a Deputy Manager.

Anyway some food for thought hope we all have a settled nitexxxxxxxxxxxx

katzguk · 29/08/2005 10:34

hi all

not had a chance to catch up but just ghought i'd invite everyone to my World's biggest coffee morning i'm holdng on the 30th of September at my house in Sheffield. it for Macmillian care a bloody good cause. anyone want to come?

Lua · 29/08/2005 11:01

Morning all!
It us an ugly day here! What shall I do with a bored toddler? I think I am going to give up all my principles and plop her in front of the TV the whole day

Bubb car seat seem to have survived the hot wash. I think I got lucky because I saw the minute that happened so it was all fresh....
I don't know why the cat did that, he doesn't seem to bothered by yet another thing to push him down the favorites list... Maybe it already had a trace of urine smell from DS and he decided was fair game...
How is everybody else's pets dealing with the new addition? Specially the first timers?

Katz, a visit to Sheffield for a good cause sounds fun. But I don't quite understand what it is... can you fill me in? You can cat me if you prefer.

Tessiebear · 29/08/2005 11:05

Lua - our dog (labradour) was a bit curious about DS3 for a few days. I think he had to get used to a new smell or something - now he acts like he has always been here - i wouldnt leave DS3 alone with him for a minute but certainly trust him overall.

bubbaloo · 29/08/2005 13:00

Lua-my cats are as good as gold with ds.infact i have a fab photo of him and them all laying on our bed together.they even lay next to his swing when he's in it-like they're guarding him.

Cooperoo · 29/08/2005 13:02

Hello all
I have been lurking but every time I have tried to post something has happened to stop me!
EYM - I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It must make everything that bit harder especially at the moment. What a stress for you to have the tests hanging over you too. I am glad that you are able to talk to your sisters about it all though. It sounds like you should have good support and all be able to be there for each other. Remember to share with us if you want to. Sometimes it helps to speak with some anonymity, but to people who sort of know you. Take care.
Mandy - Hope you enjoyed the cricket. We had to listen to it on our laptop. Was quite exciting.
Mrs W - I am not getting Whys but dd has just started with 'What you doing???' and is saying it ALL the time and like you describe not listening to the answer. Grrr. I am trying so hard to be patient but reach a point where I am just laughing at her asking AGAIN!!!
DD2 has been amazing the last few nights and been sleeping from 11pm to 4.30-5 am and then to 7am. Prob is my body hasn't adjusted and I had to get up the night before last at 2.30am to express. Got off 8oz before going back to bed. Took ages though as I wasn't prepared and had to sterilise everything. With dd1 the most I ever expressed at once was 3 oz. Didn't matter as dd1 never took the bottle so I only ever used expressed milk when weaning etc. Last night she slept from 11pm to 7 am and dh and I are still in .DD1 ddin't sleep through until she was 10 months and then only after controlled crying . I am not expecting it to last DD1 had a great day yesterday too wearing knickers all day and not having any accidents at all. We went out today though and had a poo in pants so will not be doing anymore outings for a while. I think we were pushing things really.
Right have to go and get dd1 up from her nap. We are going to watch the Bank Holiday film this afternoon (Stuart Little 2 for us) and so I must get some more jobs done first. Just steak and salad for tea so nice easy dinner. It was a bit cooler yesterday which was lovely but is 32degrees again today. Phew!
My Mum has booked flights for her visit too which is great as my stepdad is coming too, but she was supposed to come when dh was away to help but has obviously got in a muddle as she is coming the week before so I have three weeks without DH or anyone else in Oct/Nov Gulp. I think I will be contacting HomeStart. Byeee xx

OP posts:
Cooperoo · 29/08/2005 13:04

Forgot to add that dd2 took 3 oz of EBM from the bottle without any fuss at all. I was amazed! I did say it was a good day!

OP posts:
Cooperoo · 29/08/2005 13:06

Sorry no advice on sleeping routines or changing them etc. We are still letting dd2 do her own thing and have just been incredibly lucky I think.

OP posts:
katzguk · 29/08/2005 15:49

Lua - the coffee morning is a nationwide thing, basically i will host a coffee morning and leave a donations tin on the side all money raised will go to macmillian cancer care.

i will post more details when i get my info pack

JonahB · 29/08/2005 16:02

Hi All, sorry its been a while (explanation later)

EYM, so sorry you are feeling low. I?ll keep all my fingers crossed for you and all sisters. Gosh, growing up in your house must have been fun. You had such a large choice of clothes to beg/borrow and steal!!

Mrs Wed, glad things are going well with DS2?s new room. Things are going well here too. DS doesn?t seem at all fazed by the new room and is still sleeping though the night most of the time. You are so right, it is lovely to have our own bedroom back again. The only slight problem is that my pc is in his room, so joining in the chat has suddenly become a little more tricky (hence why i've not been online for a while).

Trib, hope you had fun in Amsterdam.

Lua, sorry about your cat?s little ?accident?. My cat is absolutely fine with DS. She?ll smell his head or foot, then wait for me to stroke her as usual. Its really strange, she?s v. demanding of attention when she hears him cry and get attention. She?ll sit in the doorway and cry at us until one of us strokes her. She?s also learnt which side to sit next to me when I?m feeding DS. That way I can stroke her whilst feeding. Can you tell she is utterly spoilt???

Coop, I?m very at your successful expressing. I?m just hopeless at it. I?m lucky to get 2oz!!

We're doing well here. We've had 5 sleep-though-the-nights in a week, so that's not bad going. We're going out and about quite a bit, which is good for both of us. Off for an early meal with some friends tonight, although DH is refusing to eat with us. I tried to explain that if we ever wanted to go out at all in the evenings with DS for the next few years, that's what is going to have to happen, but he is unrelenting and will no doubt sit there for the entire meal clutching a drink . Oh good. Reminder to self:I'm extremely lucky to have such a good DH who adores his son and is usually an enormous help.

Sorry to rant. Feeling slightly frustrated. Have a good evening all.

Cooperoo · 30/08/2005 07:16

Hi all
Getting in early this morning.
Jonah - Hope you enjoyed your meal, I don't understand why your DH won't eat with you though??
I am positive that the expressing was only so successful as I was leaking everywhere again!!! If I try during the day I can almost guarantee I will be back to my 2 oz a time. Will try today hopefully and let you know.
Kat - Good on you doing the coffee morning. I think there will be a big one here at the Coffee shop or the hospital so I hope to partake although sadly not with you lol.
After much umming and ahhing we finally put dd1 in a big bed last night. DH pointed out that she is actually too small for her cot and can hardly lie straight in it. I haven't really noticed as she always sleeps curled up . So we went out shopping to get some sheets and a toddler pillow (?) and moved the single bed into her room. She was very excited thankfully as I was very and actually shed a tear when I saw her redundant cot in the spare room. She got up fairly soon after we put her down to play with her toys but I went back in to say that it was time for sleeping now and she lay down and was soon asleep. Fingers crossed. We left her door open too and she didn't come out. No doubt she will in the future but so far so good. I went in this morning and she was still in the bed playing with her teddies. .
Right off to sort my post out while d2 is asleep and then we will be off to the post office. It is 32 degrees here again today so we will be driving unfortunately. Have great days all.

OP posts:
Cooperoo · 30/08/2005 07:18

Forgot to add that dd2 woke at 4.30am and then 6.30am last night. I am still impressed with her sleeping capabilities though!! I wonder if the heat is a factor. I certainly feel sleepier when it is hot.

Morning junies hugssssss

Had a lovely day yesterday hubby took me to see my one of my younger sisters who lives in Tickton near Beverley.

She was very pleased to see William, we had a lovely day followed by fish and chips at hornsea. lol My hubby knows how to spoil me.

We spoke about the screening and she told me what to do, and showed me forms, so i know im doing the right thing apparently if you have got the gene you are offered counceling.

I told her how sad ive felt all week and we talked about our mums death, and how we felt at that time.

Anyway made me feel better, we also spoke about christening wiliam so the mood lightened.

chat later girls xxxxxxxxxx

hello all

have just scooted through the thread...lots of postings as always

Mrs W - the whys have started here too...unfortunately I'm already completely and utterly driven to insanity due to the whole of august having to invent something to do to keep my toddler occupied and not trashing the house or killing the baby - with kindness I might add. Am just holding out for NURSERY

anyone whose got a 10 weeker tell me if you're getting strange feeding? ds is freaking me out by feeding hardly at all during the day and only for a few minutes....plus what you doing at night? I'm still doing 2 or 3 feeds....starting to flag now with sleep deprivation....

tribpot · 30/08/2005 17:11

Afternoon ladies, just a quicky to say we're back from Amsterdam in one piece!

We had a fairly hellish trip there, ds screaming his little head off in the car, deciding to do a monster poo just as the flight was boarding, screaming for a bit on the plane and then quite a lot when we got to the hotel as well. On the upside, he was so knackered by all this that he slept in his carry cot til 1.30 in the morning (at which point I fed him and he made it fairly obvious going back in the carry cot was not the way forward, so I co-slept with him, although I should really call this co-"slept" as he did the sleeping and I did the co.

Anyway, we reached the conclusion that until we get this reflux thing sorted out (if that's what it is) we just can't leave ds flat at all. 10 mins into the drive to Norwich we had to stop and shove my cardigan underneath the mattress of his lie-flat carseat so he was no longer prone. That worked for a bit. We've had a much better time with him since then - can't believe that having splashed out on a lovely lie-flat carseat for him the little perisher prefers sitting up in it Charley, how is Arlo getting on with his?

Jonah, what's with your dh? I assume as you are Gina-ing you are fairly strict about ds's night-time routine, hence having to eat early?

Lynny, sympathies to you, and EYM, glad to hear you are feeling better.

Must dash, suitcase didn't make it from Amsterdam (a regular occurrence with our friends KLM) so off to buy more formula in case it doesn't turn up as promised tonight!

eastyorksmum · 30/08/2005 22:40

Evening ladies hugssss

William has had settled day, gone back to sleeping most the day as he was just napping before. Although he seems more settled today. last nite slept from 12 00 clock feed to 5 30 feed this morn, hes on 6 ounzes now though maybe thats why.

trib nice to see you had a nice break I think we all need one sometimes, thanks for the kind words.

Well im feeling beter this evening its been anice day here too hubby has been so lovely and understanding.

Anyway all quiet here now so hopefully we ll all have a quiet nite xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

bubbaloo · 31/08/2005 09:11

morning all,

coop-great news about your dd1 and her big bed.lets hope the novelty doesnt wear off.

eym-glad your'e feeling a little bit better, now you've had a nice long chat with your sister.your hubby sounds lovely too.

trib-sorry to hear of the reflux problems and your hellish trip to amsterdam.did the suitcase turn up last night? we havent got a lie flat car seat, but the one we've got is meant to last untill ds is 9 months old.there's no way it'll last that long-i cant even get him in there comfortably with one of his jackets on.

had a nighmare day at the hospital yesterday.as they were plastering ds's legs he went to do a wee.i put my hand over him to stop the technician getting wet,and must of scared the life out of him.he screamed the place down for a good 15 mins and of course had only done half of it.he finally calmed down after lots of cuddles,so they started to do his other leg and he started to wee again.instead of just letting him do it,without thinking i did the same again and so did he.i have never heard him cry so much.he was also very tired and it was very hot yesterday too which doesnt help when your'e having both your legs in plaster.he spent all evening in just his nappy and is happy again this morning.i was so tired,i was in bed by 7pm!!
