educational standards that is.

to be honest, working with K now is not bothering her "fun" summer since she starts back on the 11th and i've only just gotten serious about the math skills practice.

Captain I can totally see you as the PET!! If you really worked it today you should feel it tonight. It is the most addictive exercise I've ever done.

CrispyTheCrisp · 28/07/2010 21:32

Yay, TS is on mono posting

QoD DD2 has some very dramatic wailing and thrashing moments. We got home earlier and she threw herself on the lawn thrashing. No idea why, so i just walked into the house

TwilightSurfer · 28/07/2010 21:38

LOL! Brain is working on slowmo today so only allowed one post comment at a time.

woah! it was quiet on here last night!

DS fell out of bed about an hour ago and I can't get back to sleep so thought i'd pop on to see what you were all up to.... it would seem i'll be talking to myself though!

hey ho, off to see what else is happening on MN at this time of morning!

springaporesling · 29/07/2010 04:23

Oops hope DD1's lip ok.

Miamla are you feeling better today?

Crispy & QoD DS can also have some great tantrums. But I'm with Crispy on the ignoring. DH tends to try to placate him and it generally ends up making the tantrum last longer - no matter how many times I tell him just to let him get on with it.

TS one of my friends had to go to her son's first parent evening (he was 4 in May). She was told his maths skills weren't very good - wtf he's 4! She's an accountant and her DH is an actuary so I really don't think he'll have a problem with homework when he's older!

MrsMiamla · 29/07/2010 04:53

ooh hi spring!
felt really dizzy most of today. i'm annoyed because it meant i missed out on seeing albs and H but i just didn't feel like doing more than not getting dressed and lying on the sofa most the day

not feeling too bad at the moment so here's hoping if and when i get back to sleep, that i'll wake up full of the joys of spring!

as for tantrums, i'm really lucky in that it always seems pretty obvious what DS is upset about ie because i've just confiscated something from him

what i'm loving at the moment is the fact that he thinks i can fix everything ...broken cars, torn books, an orange in segments instead of whole for him to break up etc etc

just realised, this time 2 years ago, i was in denial about what my little 'niggles' actually were!

springaporesling · 29/07/2010 08:24

Hope you are back asleep now! DS also thinks I can fix everything but was heartbroken when he got some dust in his eyes yesterday from a passing lorry and I couldn't!

oopsandbabycoconuts · 29/07/2010 08:24

Morning Miamla I'm with you on thetired thing this morning. I went to bed at a sensible 10pm then DH woke my at 10.15 saying the new fridge was beeping at him and how to stop it so sown I went and closed the freezer drawer! no point in going back to sleep as DD2 was going to want a feed at 11. DD1 fell out of bed at 12.45 and was then awake and talking until DD2 woke for her feed at 4.30 then she snuggled behind me as I fed DD2 and fell fast aslee. DD2 awake for feeding and the day at 7.30 and DD1 is up too and very chirpy!

Tantrums here are caused by hunger and me taking things away.

GladioliBuckets · 29/07/2010 08:36

Miamla I assume you've got no headaches or swollen bits? (other than usual preggy swollen bits.)

Oops How about the American Museum for a meet up? Am I right in thinking you pay on the door, not the carpark, so if you don't want to view it you can still access the gardens and restaurant? Or is that wishful thinking? (DD didn't like the museum at all so unless I farmed her out elsewhere we couldn't go in!)

MrsMiamla · 29/07/2010 08:38

wish i was asleep still! Pea and DS had other ideas! They're already tag-teaming me!!! There's no hope for any sleep for the next 4 years so i think its just best I accept this and get on with it without moaning

oops matchsticks? cup of tea? I never understand how they can be so chirpy after such a bad night! I only disappeared off here earlier because DS fell out of bed twice more DH explained what had happened to him this morning, with falling out of bed being a rite of passage into growing up. It was really sweet my baby!!

MrsMiamla · 29/07/2010 08:42

ooh hi buckets, x posted with you there! my only swollen bit is my stomach. and nope, no headache.
Actually, people keep commenting on how the only extra stuff on me is my bump and the rest of me is normal sized still! why do you ask?

oopsandbabycoconuts · 29/07/2010 08:59

Buckets - American museum is now £5.50 for grounds/cafe and current exhibition. Under 5's free and £3.50 for 5+ year olds.

Miamla - I think Buckets might be concerned about your BP.

MrsMiamla · 29/07/2010 09:11

ah ha, yes of course! DH mentioned BP yesterday too. He prescribed me cake for breakfast and I didn't refuse
didn't make me feel less dizzy though.

hmm, maybe i should book an appt to see the nurse to get it checked but just the journey up there with DS will raise my BP!

oops is it nap time yet?

oopsandbabycoconuts · 29/07/2010 09:14

Naptime - yes please DD2 is napping DD1 is zonked out infront of some tripe called 'Same Smile'

MrsMiamla · 29/07/2010 09:17

i vote for getting your sister round. wasn't it this week that she was free and offered her services? and if you don't want her, send her round here!

QueenofDreams · 29/07/2010 09:45

morning all.

miamla no advice about dizziness. I was dizzy all through pregnancy with S. I couldn't really go out much or anything because of being faint.

oops that sounds like a nightmarish night. Hope you get some sleep in today.

Tired here as well, I'm having real trouble getting to sleep lately. THink it's the heat.
Stupid TV isn't working. It worked fine all through the crappo movie on e4, but as soon as Tim Minchin came on it started playing up, then stopped working altogether. Virgin engineer coming tomorrow to check it out..

GladioliBuckets · 29/07/2010 10:00

Miamla you will get more sleep this time round because you'll be doing all the things you now wished you'd done the first time! S'called trial and error and is why 3rd babies are worth keeping the snip at bay that wee while longer.

Lalalalalallalallalalalalalalala not even 10oclock and I'm already hiding from the kids. Have had 3 lie-ins this week but today have been up since 6.30odd, amazing how quickly your body assumes extra sleep is a right not a privilege. Plan today is to meet friend&son at dockside seafront playground for special alien bookbus thingy. Hope rain stays away, the sandpit there really keeps them out of your hair though the cafe's coffee is totsewage.

GladioliBuckets · 29/07/2010 10:01

Take your pick, Tot sewage or total sewage, same effect.

cyteen · 29/07/2010 10:11

Also tired and grumpy here, although not pg or with a new baby to explain it away.

CC I am listening to Truelove's Gutter It's lush.

Buckets go to Buy then try Shop Local or Geolocater

TwilightSurfer · 29/07/2010 12:14

QueenofDreams · 29/07/2010 16:07

Hi TS
I have no idea whatsoever where everyone is!

CaptainCaveman · 29/07/2010 17:01

ooh Cyteen we love love love that album! Dh has just bought tony Christie album (which isn't as guff as it sounds) which Richard Hawley plays on too. It's songs from Sheffield artists and there is a lovely version of the Human League's 'Louise' on there.

Ts I can feel my pilates work out and am constantly tightening my core . Although i find it a struggle to tighten all the required muscles and do the correct breathing at the same time! Who ever would have thought breathing could be hard

ouch to babes falling out of beds!

Queenie do you think S could be over tired? 3 seems late to have a nap, but that might just be me!? What time is he up in the morning? O is usually up around 6am but then badly flagging by midday - and will meltdown at any given opportunity. Conversely I always wake him before 3 (preferably 2) so we can have a hope of getting him to bed by 7.30.

oh look, its 5pm, must be hometime

GladioliBuckets · 29/07/2010 17:54

Thanks Cyteen, I knew I hadn't invented some world changing concept.

I have been very stupid and stayed in all day with 3 kids so I could get on with my Marian Keyes and knitting. I am now shattered, always the way when you don't leave the house. Already planning lunch out tomorrow though.
