Queenie - can you go on a short train ride somewhere? We make a big fuss of putting together a picnic, packing a bag/buggy and catching the train 1 or 2 stops down the line, finding somwwhere for a picnic ( could you go into london to meet DP for lunch or museums as some are free?) the training it home. The whole thing from helping choose picnic food to buying tickets will boost his confidence and build the excitement for the train ride. A chance for you both to get out.

back later boobs in demand!

oopsandbabycoconuts · 22/07/2010 20:11

Queenie - following on from Cyteens post - have you tried a doe of neurofen/calpoland see if it stops the whinging. It may be molars/ears. DD had a week like this last week and the calpol worked so it was pain causing

QueenofDreams · 22/07/2010 20:28

Well I've given him some calpol, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference oops

albs we're getting out nearly every day, so this morning we went to bounce & rhyme at the library. Tomorrow it will be toddler gym. these things run through the summer thank goodness! The train ride somewhere might be good. ALso sure start are running some day trips so I'm thinking of signing up for one of those.

cyteen I might just get him checked out as there is real, proper crying going on.

hotterpotter · 22/07/2010 20:35

Queenie sorry to hear DS is still in a grumpy mood but you have got some great suggestions here to try and get him out of it

Loti I am so glad DH is being super-helpful and seems a changed man but I agree with everyone who says takew it easy and be sure the transformation is more than just temporary. It must have taken such courage to chuck him out in the first place, don't let him back without more proof

Buckets wishing you a Happy Birthday hope it's being a good one

cece well done for getting rid of some of your work I hope that plus your helpful and sympathetic GP can get your hair growing back again. If it is some kind of stress alopecia (insytead of just normal ageing baldness take heart from a friend of mine whose hair nearly all fell out after the birth of his second daughter. Was very but it has all grown back now. She wasn't even that difficult a baby...

Sorry ladies can't remember any more but you know I love you all

Been on a trip with DD's nursery today, 45 minutes in the steamy warmth of Tropical World then 2 fricking hours freezing my arse off in Roundhay Park. I thought it was supposed to be July Anyway my cold isa much worse than it was this morning so think I might go to bed with my book. 24 hours until wine o'clock and I can drown the germy feckers in alcohol

hotterpotter · 22/07/2010 20:52

Also did no-one else notice that oops' raspberry choc muffins are recipe of the week again Damn they must be fine buns

TwilightSurfer · 22/07/2010 21:09

Hi ☺ my day is ½ over & I've nothing to show for it but a few funny ♣♠♥○ symbols.

Queen the ear ache thing could be a possibility. Is he fussy when you go out or is it just when you're home. If only at home it could be just situational frustration. R gets that way when we are at K's tennis lessons. She can't do what SHE WANTS and cries. Some days I know they are glad when we've left. Very random for her though. I'd second the doc ear check if otherwise for S.

MN on likes one of my newly learned symbols.

hotterpotter · 22/07/2010 21:12

That didn't work TS you will have to ask Albs how she got her little trademark thingy.

Right off to bed before I infect anyone with my germiness. Night

Just popping in to say I'm still listening in, though I am having one of those spells when it seems hard to post and pass on all the messages I write in my head when I'm reading.

Cece - as Cyteen says, you are brilliant for talking to work about practical solutions. I would totally wimp out of that. Good for you.

Loti - what can I say only trust your instincts, and if you're not sure of them ask for more time. If he is really committed, he'll wait.

Cyteen-it must be so hard to have lots of sadness and joy competing at the moment. You are such a strong and clear-sighted person that the bits that can be evened out, will be, if that makes sense.

Am I the only person who would sign up to a blog of TS's wisdom? You're better than any fortune cookie, girl.

Waves to MrMiamla - oh, that's not a wave is it. Silly me.

TwilightSurfer · 23/07/2010 01:35

I am better than a fortune cookie. LOVE IT!! Thanks Red!

Loti I too think the trial separation would be a good thing to show him you mean business.

QoD DS is too being like this at the moment. I know it's partly to do with him being a bit under the weather but it is not easy to deal with and I'm not pg and sick too. I am really hating the fact that he always seems to be like this when Mum and Dad see him particularly as the day after they arrived he was in a great mood all day then he's just deteriorated since then. Mum and Dad went off to Cambodia and Vietnam yesterday and he was very quiet all day - this morning however he's like the old DS and in a great mood. DS loves going on the bus - doesn't matter where - maybe you could try that as well or as an alternative to the train. He will happily sit on my lap or next to me (depending on how high the window is) and point various things out to me. I also find that water play is great for calming him down - if it is still hot at the moment (?) maybe just stick a washing up bowl in the yard with a few plastic cups empty plastic bottles or containers. DS will play for hours with his water tray in the garden (and in the bath which makes it tough to get him out sometimes). Play dough (if you make a great big lump of it and stick in the middle of the table (or I stick it on the floor as we don't have carpets) and just let him pull bits off, roll it or whatever calms him down. Also if you have a pot of bubbles that also works well to distract.

Hots DB and DH took DS to Tropical World whilst I was having a bridesmaid dress fitting - just to make him feel at home

Red I tend to have a blank e-mail and MN open so that I can respond to comments as I go along then just cut and paste - but then I usually post from work and so I have the advantage of having dual screens

TS maybe you need a t-shirt with that on too!

oopsandbabycoconuts · 23/07/2010 07:54

Dizzy - lovely one am thinking of you today. I am pretty certain your mum is out there looking down on you thinking what an amazing woman she raised!

BAck later being yelled at for 'weekabix, breakfast, feed me I'm hungry'

hotterpotter · 23/07/2010 09:02

At work, should be doing proper stuff but am instead trying to decide what DD and I should bake for the nursery staff as she leaves on Tuesday (). Would ask KitschnBake but not allowed on fb at work. Thinking of chocolate brownies, making me hungry

springa my DD is funny with my parents too and it's a bit for them and for me. She usually comes round after half an hour or so but is quite shy with them despite having seen them nearly every week since she was born. Compared this to MIL who she is all over like a rash Oh well they are who they are. Glad yours hasd cheered up anyway

oopsandbabycoconuts · 23/07/2010 09:24

HP - have a super simple choco brownie recipe if you want it. Otherwise why not some fairy cakes (buns?)with drizzle icing on and then T can help you ice and decorate.

hotterpotter · 23/07/2010 10:23

Was wondering about buns oops, maybe even making smaller versions of your twice-nominated raspberyy choc muffins but thought brownies would last longer in the tin in case they are inundated with baked goods next week. So please share your recipe, ta

hotterpotter · 23/07/2010 11:45

Where is everyone today????? I bet you are all on facebook looking at Dizzy's buns

cyteen · 23/07/2010 11:56

I'm here, for the next half an hour anyway - going to meet DP for lunch at Pizza Express after that

hotterpotter · 23/07/2010 12:04

Typical! I am just off out for a look round the shops. Have heard there is a monster sale on in M&S, can't afford to buy anything but when did that ever stop me...

Have a lovely lunch dear cyteen and hope to talk to you later

TwilightSurfer · 23/07/2010 12:04

I'm here too only just woke from a not very restful night. Why can't I turn my brain off and sleep?

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 23/07/2010 12:05

unrestful! not restful

OP posts:
hotterpotter · 23/07/2010 13:56

I'm back and everyone is still AWOL

Been in M&S but it looked like a jumble sale and the clientele never make me feel like I'm making a valid style choice shopping there so escaped with only some shorts for DS. It's bloody lovely out now too after yesterday's freezing weather

TS hope you got 5 more minutes snoozing and that has put your head on the right way now

oopsandbabycoconuts · 23/07/2010 14:18

Sorry HP been out collecting my new car back later as I off out to play in it.
