Dave's cuts are going be deep and they will hurt

I've been hearing this all day on the radio. I can't take the suspense any longer. They are going to affect the lives of 'every one of us'

I feel like a person wincing and clenching my teeth in anticipation of the big fuck-off needle the school nurse is wielding, and I'm next in the queue....

Come on then, what's it going to be?

I'm scared...

longfingernails · 07/06/2010 14:26

They aren't Dave's cuts. They are Gordon's cuts. Get it right.

FellatioNelson · 07/06/2010 14:31

Well, they are Gordon's fault but they are Daves' cuts. I know he's got to be cruel to be kind, but I'm still feeling queasy. Just hope there's a cup of tea and a nice biscuit for after.

Just seen Daves 'announcement' on the bbc website [two minutes and 10 seconds worth anyway]. Is that it? have I missed anymore?

After all that build up and worrying about what he has up his sleeve for just another load of telling us about hard times etc?

I wonder if it's not akin to mass brainwashing of us [not to mention scaremongering], so we don't take their giant cuts too badly when he announces it all in the budget.

Personnaly, I have been worried about he was going to say today too, but now I just feel cross. FGS, just get on with what ever you are going to do Dave and stop bleating on like a broken record...it's very tedious.

helyg · 07/06/2010 18:23

I agree lego, I'm beginning to think that the plan is to tell us so many times that the cuts are going to be terrible that we get really scared... and then the reality of the cuts won't seem so bad (and won't make them as unpopular).

I wish he'd hurry up though.

LynetteScavo · 07/06/2010 18:28

I'm curious about the turkey leg.

You shared one turkey leg between you?

love mtv's teen cribs. Ds and I sat there with our mouths hanging open. But wouldn't want to live in Pittsburg just so I could have a full-size basketball court and a bowling alley in my house.

Anyway, I wish they'd let ME make the cuts. Local councils are still advertising non-jobs at giant salaries with all the benefits. I don't know how they have the neck, I really don't.

DanJARMouse · 07/06/2010 18:34

Noone will know anything until 22nd June, and we will all be watching BBC News for the minute by minute updates. Then there will be thousands of threads on here disecting it all and panicking.

I am trying to see where I can make cuts, and other than food, there isnt much saving to be done. I am tied into Sky until April next year for phone/tv/broadband and am already on PAYG meters for gas and electric.

A lot of people will be forced to economise in a way they never thought they would need to.

expatinscotland · 07/06/2010 18:36

There's nothing we can do about it for now.

I'm applying for FT work wherever I can so DH and I can swap out shifts again.

We don't have Sky, mobiles, gym memberships, etc.

I like the idea (think it was in the Indy this morning) that the public will be invited to give their views about what should be cut. Whether they'll take much notice is another matter, but I'd like to pull out of Afganistan asap, cut ALL arts subsidies, esp. crap like opera, and make sure that JSA claimants did unpaid work which won't otherwise be done if it's true that lots of council workers are going to be out of a job.

expatinscotland · 07/06/2010 18:42

'and make sure that JSA claimants did unpaid work which won't otherwise be done if it's true that lots of council workers are going to be out of a job. '

Yes, so councils can make all those people redundant and then get the work done for free. And those private companies who contract for the council as well. I mean, why pay an employee when you can get it free from all those 'scroungers'.

Not to mention, single parents with kids over 7 are on JSA.

Guess they should just leave their kids home alone and do this unpaid work, the scrounging losers!

I think ESA is going to be very hard to get unless you well and truly can't work at anything.

Otherwise, I think it's going to be JSA for a lot of those folks.

legoStuckinmyHoover · 07/06/2010 19:00

yes, you are right it will be hard. and, have they not already said about a freeze on benefits?

OrmRenewed · 07/06/2010 19:03

Just GET ON WITH IT!

yes we know it's going to hurt. Just tell us.
