thats OK, I think he would compliment my hair pretty well TBH!!

DavidHameron · 07/05/2010 20:43

Alistair Darling

FacePalm · 07/05/2010 20:44

I Think no matter what happens now, GB will go, but i like him, I hope someone has told him that loads more people have joined the Labour party today, make him feel better!

Getting all soft in my old age!! Wonder what he is doing, as apparently lib dems and cons having a very hush hush secret meeting!

I really like Gordon but if him standing down keeps the tories out then I think its the lesser of 2 evils.

HOOTING at Hague with May's voice!

Penthesileia · 07/05/2010 20:50

On a positive note (sorry to barge in), perhaps this is the opportunity Labour need to revitalise the party? I regret very much the way the GB has been perceived by the media, etc. Unfair, IMO. But there it is. He took over the leadership at a bad time.

The Labour Party now needs to make some lemonade with these lemons.

CatIsSleepy · 07/05/2010 20:50

i think gordon will step down, am not sure it will keep the tories out though

love that pic of Darling

EnchantedWithGordon · 07/05/2010 20:50

I've met him and found that 'bumblingness' about him totally endearing!

EnchantedWithGordon · 07/05/2010 20:51

and yet that bumblingness he shows on public meeting, totally disapers when he puts his PM hat on, he never falters during a speech and is very moving IMO

I've deactivated my Twitter account; I'm gonna have to start again too...

Penthesileia · 07/05/2010 20:55

Hey Lenin. Yes, very interesting. Got sucked into the thead by Sweedes saying that people had voted for a hung parliament - I just don't think they did: they voted along "natural" lines (with added Conservative zest, and probably a lot of Labour apathy), and this was the result...

Penthesileia · 07/05/2010 20:58

I really think that Labour must be strategic now. They can't just hang on to power - assuming that the Lib Dems were to do a deal with them (though Clegg unlikely to deal with GB).

Labour must think long term about this. What is the best way to secure their future at the next election, which could be soon?

Where can I find info about increased membership? I'd be interested to read about that.

I think GB took over at a really bad time, he got the blame for a lot of things that wasn't down to him. The media painted a really nasty picture and the british public believed it all. I gave GB another chance yesterday, I really hoped that Labour would pull through, but now GB needs to do what is right for the country, and if that means stepping down to keep the Tories out, then so be it.

This was the first time have voted Labour- without wincing- in a general election, because of GB

have always voted LAb- but didn't like Kinnock much and fucking loathed Blair, so each time had to hold my nose while I did it

I'll be sorry to see the back of Gordon. Don't think whoever they get next will be an improvement...

MarionCole · 07/05/2010 21:06

I was bitterly disappointed when Gordon stepped aside and backed Blair for the leadership.

HamShine · 07/05/2010 21:07

Don't think arnica cream is homeopathic, justa - herbal, which might appeal more. Would icepack help?
