Anxious Conservatives thread!

As the lefties have one, we need one too.

I have everything crossed for them to win, by however small a margin, and red wine and arsenic ready in case they lose...

I daren't stay up as my nerves can't take it. I just desperately want to wake up to a Conservative government tomorrow morning.

Lefties, please don't intrude. I have deliberately started this thread so as not to pester you on your anxious thread. It feels mean and unnecessary to tell you why you are wrong on your own thread.

I wish they would count a bit faster.

BeenBeta · 06/05/2010 23:23

I thought the swing in the Sunderland seat showed the Labour vote stayed at home.
Hopng that is the case across the country.

Jeff Randal on Sky just commenting on Betfair betting exchanges and suggested that the exit poll is at odds with the real money going in on bets on the number of seats each party will get.

There is still hope for a Tory majority but it will be tight.

The really important vote will happen when the Gilt (UK govt bond) market starts trading a special session at 1.00 am in the City. If the Tory party looks like getting a majority the market will soar.

StrictlyTory · 06/05/2010 23:25

God I'm really ill but I can't go to bed before more results! I'm pretty sure my MP will stay but I really want to be up to wave bye bye to Jacqui Smith

Thediaryofanobody · 06/05/2010 23:26

Ahh crap.

Alouiseg · 06/05/2010 23:27

85% chance of a hung parliament

Alouiseg · 06/05/2010 23:28

Shwiing!

AnnaSergeyevna · 06/05/2010 23:28

Woooo Hooooo. 11% swing!

Thatcher only got a 5% swing!

StrictlyTory · 06/05/2010 23:28

Who is actually voting for Labour!?

sethstarkaddersmum · 06/05/2010 23:29

whoah, that's some swing....

Lolly68 · 06/05/2010 23:31

Big swings! Lets keep it up!

StrictlyTory · 06/05/2010 23:32

Mandelson on TV, that man really creeps me out!

Come on Tories Swing swing swing

AnnaSergeyevna · 06/05/2010 23:33

The two results are from solid labour seats. I am getting more and more optimistic!
And prince of darkness says he is getting more and more nervous.

Time for another drink.....to celebrate, not to settle the nerves.
Anyone fancy a top-up?

Thediaryofanobody · 06/05/2010 23:33

Has anyone had to queue to vote?
Our polling station seemed to be empty most of the day when it's usually fairly busy on election day.

sethstarkaddersmum · 06/05/2010 23:33

it could be that no-one is turning out for incumbent MPs on both sides because of the expenses scandal, though.

Cartoose · 06/05/2010 23:34

swingometers

Thediaryofanobody · 06/05/2010 23:34

Go on Anna make it a large.
Still early yet lets keep the faith.

whifflegarden · 06/05/2010 23:34

strictlytory These people

Alibabaandthe40tories · 06/05/2010 23:35

I am hopeful.

Hadn't heard about this 1am things with the markets though, think my bro might be having to get involved with that. How exciting!

God I love politics

101damnations · 06/05/2010 23:35

I'm tempted to stay up all night purely to watch Mandelson squirm.I don't have to work tomorrow either!

Alouiseg · 06/05/2010 23:35

Nah, rural and quiet here! Even my dog was (jokingly) offered a ballot paper.

He is a Bulldog though, i like to think that the officer knew where he was going with this!

StrictlyTory · 06/05/2010 23:36

I'd love a drink, my throat is on fire

No queue at my polling station, I'll be honest though, it's literally a hamlet so even if the whole hamlet turned out at once there wouldn't be a queue lasting more than 10 mins

whifflegarden · 06/05/2010 23:36

Such a huge dependancy on the state...and fear/apprehension about what a tory govt will do.

whifflegarden · 06/05/2010 23:37

I'm also getting hopeful

sethstarkaddersmum · 06/05/2010 23:37

What is Ed Balls's seat? that'll be the best one to see declared.

btw someone on the other thread said that 11% swing might just indicate protest voting against unpopular Labour council

Thediaryofanobody · 06/05/2010 23:38

Here's something to make us laugh whilst we wait for the next set.
