Anxious Conservatives thread!

As the lefties have one, we need one too.

I have everything crossed for them to win, by however small a margin, and red wine and arsenic ready in case they lose...

I daren't stay up as my nerves can't take it. I just desperately want to wake up to a Conservative government tomorrow morning.

Lefties, please don't intrude. I have deliberately started this thread so as not to pester you on your anxious thread. It feels mean and unnecessary to tell you why you are wrong on your own thread.

I am in Sutton. Very Lib Dem here but heard the other day that Tories could get it.

AnnaSergeyevna · 06/05/2010 23:52

No sane person would want to take on governing such a mess. But I think its a question of the lesser of two evils.

Thediaryofanobody · 06/05/2010 23:53

62.37% turn out in Kirkcauldy Gordon Browns constituency.

Lolly68 · 06/05/2010 23:54

I know Anna. Wouldnt like to be the one making the decisions. As long as Tories dont win and then they say they want another election so everyone can vote! Do you think that could happen?

CrosswordGeekVotesBlue · 06/05/2010 23:54

C'mon you blues!
(god, never thought I'd say that, I support Arsenal!)

whifflegarden · 06/05/2010 23:54

future's v bleak. we're up shit creek whichever way you look at it.

Markets now predicting tory majority

arrgghh griffin

Where I am, bnp had over 4% last election. I wonder what they'll have this time

AnnaSergeyevna · 06/05/2010 23:55

Lolly - Sutton only had a majority of 3k at the last election, so could quite easily swing to conservative.
Definitely not a safe seat for libdems and on the basis of results so far, they would lose it.

Lolly68 · 06/05/2010 23:55

Crossword - I'm Chelsea so always some C'mon you Blues!

CrosswordGeekVotesBlue · 06/05/2010 23:55

Also, agree with the poisoned chalice thing.

Isn't that pretty much what happened with Mags?

AnnaSergeyevna · 06/05/2010 23:56

Crossword - me's a blue gooner too!

StrictlyTory · 06/05/2010 23:56

Right, sadly I'm off to bed. I have a bad chest infection so the old body needs some rest.

Oh great my last imagine is the Milliband, I feel dirty.

Come on blues I can't wait to live in a Tory world again.

Lolly68 · 06/05/2010 23:56

I know they have held it for a few years. Paul Burstow saved one our hospitals from being closed so he was very popular.

jackstarbright · 06/05/2010 23:57

Signing off ladies. Need to sleep. Not sure if I should be more worried about waking up to a hung parliament or world stock market crisis?

Night night!

voteanythingbutBNPplease · 06/05/2010 23:57

Just wanted to join this - agree that usually seems lonely on MN for us true blues!
watching BBC at mo, but when they annoy me I'm watching inside man on ITV2!
Dh is at the count so I get to choose!
Trying to keep awake - just had coffee... after beer... might go back to beer now!

Thediaryofanobody · 06/05/2010 23:57

Voters turned away in Weybridge too, Weybridge is not a particularly large place quite surprised at that.

CrosswordGeekVotesBlue · 06/05/2010 23:59

Lolly - Nooo!

Blue for politics, Red for Football!!!

I so want to stay up and watch all of this, but I don't think I'd deal with DD very well tomorrow.

PS I am a first time voter, and felt well chuffed doing my little cross, quite sad really!

Alouiseg · 06/05/2010 23:59

Feeling sleepy....would two hours count as a power nap?

CrosswordGeekVotesBlue · 07/05/2010 00:01

FGS, all this stuff about people not being able to vote does annoy me. 15 hours and everyone rushes at 9-30?! Bloody conspiracy, I reckon.

PS, MN is very left wing, but it's Tory at heart... Look at the COLOURS

Thediaryofanobody · 07/05/2010 00:02

Conservatives on MN do sometimes feel rather small in number but then I'm a conservative voter yet usually avoid the Political threads so there are probably a lot more keeping quite.

My mum txt to say her and my dad voted Conservative, they've been life long labour voters. My mum flirted with the idea of voting Liberal democrat because she rather fancies Nick Clegg luckily she managed to control her hormones.

Lolly68 · 07/05/2010 00:03

Looks like we are going to get Battersea!

Cartoose · 07/05/2010 00:05

I know, this people not being able to vote thing has cast a horrible shadow over this election.

Whoever wins is going to have "but did you really win? So many people didn't get to vote" hanging over them.

Unless they are forced to re-draw

Lolly68 · 07/05/2010 00:06

Cartoose - that's what I was wondering. Can that happen?

CrosswordGeekVotesBlue · 07/05/2010 00:07

It's true, Cartoose.

The whole thing is tainted, and it won't be a case of whoever wins, it will only be if we get a majority share of seats.

Thediaryofanobody · 07/05/2010 00:09

Must say I'm enjoying Sky news far more than BBC and ITV, it's not so dry.

101damnations · 07/05/2010 00:10

God,it is reminiscient of the 'hanging chad' affair in Florida. Not good.
