Anxious Conservatives thread!

As the lefties have one, we need one too.

I have everything crossed for them to win, by however small a margin, and red wine and arsenic ready in case they lose...

I daren't stay up as my nerves can't take it. I just desperately want to wake up to a Conservative government tomorrow morning.

Lefties, please don't intrude. I have deliberately started this thread so as not to pester you on your anxious thread. It feels mean and unnecessary to tell you why you are wrong on your own thread.

OK

HumphreyCobbler · 06/05/2010 19:29

Yes, it isn't exactly a done deal, is it?

I am excited/interested though, rather than anxious. Although I am a Tory, I feel that they are going to be in for so much shit if they win they will never get back in. So I have mixed feelings.

But I do hope we see the end of Gordon Brown. I can't say how much I dislike him.

VicToryA · 06/05/2010 19:31

Good point, HumphreyCobbler. That will be my silver lining if they don't get in!

However much you like GB, it can't be as much as I do. I feel a nervous twitch coming on whenever I see him on TV.

Um dislike GB!!!

Nerves have got the better of me...

I am almost certain that Brown is history.

The best outcome for us is a decisive majority (at least 30, say).

The second best outcome is falling narrowly short of a majority, but able to cross the threshold at ease with the support of independents, or minor parties.

Third best is a narrow majority.

Fourth best is largest party, but only slightly, having to do a deal with the Fib Dems.

thatsnotmymonkey · 06/05/2010 19:47

boooo!

ok ok I am leaving, no need to push!!

SirBallotAlot · 06/05/2010 19:54

wanders in nervously

I wouldn't call myself a strong Tory supporter but I am more frightened of a hung parliament than anything else - so in an attempt to vote tactically I did vote Conservative (my first general election, aww... ). May I join you?

VicToryA · 06/05/2010 20:49

Yes indeedy, SirBallotAlot. I share your fear of a hung parliament, as does my DH, who also voted Conservative today for the first time ever in the hope of avoiding the the hung parliament fandango.

LOL at Fib Dems, longfingernails.

C'mon everyone. Relax. It'll be fine.

VicToryA · 06/05/2010 20:55

Thanks, Cartoose. Am taking deep breaths.

See, we're not that nasty after all

whatwasthatagain · 06/05/2010 21:03

Sorry guys - I am a dyed in the wool true blue but I have just voted UKIP! Tories do not stand a chance in my constituency and it is my own protest vote against Europe. I would like to stay up to see DC win a resounding victory but too tired already. But I fear it will be a poison chalice - just like Nulab inherited a charmed chalice from Maggie, which they have squandered and brought us to the brink of ruin. Ho hum - where will it all end.....

VicToryA · 06/05/2010 21:03

Lol, Cartoose. Just to prove that some Conservatives think of others, I will even share my Pringles with you.

Group hug indeed, MrsG. Our constituency is due to declare at 03.30, so I will be well and truly asleep...

"Third best is a narrow majority"

This is what I imagine to be the most likely outcome which makes me a little bit nervous ...

... but no. It'll be fine, it has to be fine

Monty100 · 06/05/2010 21:20

I'm going to bed too! May the best man win and we know who that is don't we!?

lilmissmummy · 06/05/2010 21:21

I have no nails left. I dont know what time my constituency will be declared I am off to find out. We are pretty secure Conservative area though so we should be safe!

I'll leave my wine with you as pregnant so not allowed to drink! Anyone got any olives though?

Alibabaandthe40tories · 06/05/2010 21:24

Evening

God I'm nervous. I think our MP (Tory) will have held her seat, she had around a 4000 majority last time although the boundries have shifted a bit.

I am calming myself with Dominos and a very nice white Burgundy - DH and I are planning to stay up as late as possible so I must go easy on the wine!

ASecretLemonadeDrinkerDAVE · 06/05/2010 21:27

I am nervous as hell. I live in a tory safe area, but this year feels so different with all the 'dumbing down' and TV debates. I actually will cry if it's not a Tory win, maybe not so much if it's Labour as it'll be more of the same, but I fear the Lib Dems getting in down to the very pit of my stomach.

Prinnie · 06/05/2010 21:27

Hello - another anxious (yet excited) Tory here. I'm just trying to anethetise myself with alcohol so I can get at least 3 hours of sleep before waking up to watch DC (hopefully) win.

hello, may I have an olive?
hoping for a Conservative victory.
though I must admit I quite like Gordon Brown. Don't want him to carry on being PM, but like him.
