Anxious Conservatives thread!

As the lefties have one, we need one too.

I have everything crossed for them to win, by however small a margin, and red wine and arsenic ready in case they lose...

I daren't stay up as my nerves can't take it. I just desperately want to wake up to a Conservative government tomorrow morning.

Lefties, please don't intrude. I have deliberately started this thread so as not to pester you on your anxious thread. It feels mean and unnecessary to tell you why you are wrong on your own thread.

Blondecat...I'm with you there. very much hoping for lib/lab coalition. DC can remain in the background muttering reminding the electorate about the injustice of it all. Bad for the country but guarantee within 12 months time election will be called and we'll romp to victory

booyhoo · 07/05/2010 10:29

see that just proves it, that was my understanding of it and i'm sure alot of other peoples. well anyone i have spoken to anyway. i'm sure that was a huge factor in peoples votes.

BeenBeta · 07/05/2010 10:30

Just watching Sky saying that Gordon Brown is proposaing a Lib-Lab pact.

Cartoose · 07/05/2010 10:31

I wonder what Clegg will actually have to say about that

ronshar · 07/05/2010 10:32

I need to get back to digging a hole to bury my little cat in.
I will bury my hopes for a positive future for this country next to him.

whifflegarden · 07/05/2010 10:34

ronshar

booyhoo · 07/05/2010 10:35

GB saying he wont resign and nick clegg about to make a statement. lib-lab it is then.

wasabipeanut · 07/05/2010 10:35

Blondecat what worries me is how much damage a Lib Lab pact will do before it collapses. The Tories may have to clean up an even worse mess therefore becoming even more unpopular etc.

I'm really fed up. Think it might be sleep deprivation. DS was up at 6.30 jumping on our bed bellowing I'm a little teapot.

I can't mainline expresso as I am bfing DD.

Lolly68 · 07/05/2010 10:39

Cant stand Harriet Harman - she hasnt a clue what she is going on about!

Well done Cartoose. I kept waking up every hour checking my phone! At my desk now and very very tired.

booyhoo · 07/05/2010 10:40

wasabi i'mnot really having espresso either as BFing too and i'm taking both dses and ds1's friend to soft play centre after lunch to meet my cousin and her 2 dses. FUN FUN FUN!!!! i need to sleeep.

BeenBeta · 07/05/2010 10:40

Even if there was a Lib-Lab pact I just do not think there is enough agreement at a personal level to make Clegg and Brown gel. It will fall apart

If a Lib-Lab pact did happen I can see LibDems beng punished so badly at teh enxt electon that they would eventually collapse into Labour anyway. We would end up with a two party system amd kind of proportional represenation system by default but based on seats.

If the Tory party do not get into power now the next election in perhaps 2 years would be a landslide for them. It will take people that long to realise just how bad things are.

Most people voted Lib-Lab in fear of Tory cuts. Well they will come anyway so nothing to fear next time.

booyhoo · 07/05/2010 10:41

ahhh, all picture no sound on UTV!!

booyhoo · 07/05/2010 10:43

oooh, sounds promising

ronshar · 07/05/2010 10:43

NC just said it would join Cons.
Brilliant.

booyhoo · 07/05/2010 10:44

at a price ronshar

he wants them to agree the reforms

BeenBeta · 07/05/2010 10:45

Interesting statement from Nick Clegg.

Sticking to his view that the Tory party should be given the right to try and form a Govt but not saying he was going to seek to enter into a discussion or agreement with them.

Obviously making it clear he wants electoral reform.

Lolly68 · 07/05/2010 10:46

Have they really!!? Where did you see that?

whifflegarden · 07/05/2010 10:47

I am a broken record...once again fear if cuts you're right beenbeta, people will have a rude awakening as status quo is untennable.

Clegg wanting to talk to tories. I have mixed feelings.

BeenBeta · 07/05/2010 10:49

Watching the Gilt market. It spiked up as Nick Clegg spoke outside LibDem HQ. The global financial market likes the idea of Tory-Lib Dem alliance.

wasabipeanut · 07/05/2010 10:49

Booyhoo I'm doing the soft play thing this pm too! I'm hoping I can leave DS to run wild and spend 2 hours slumped on a sofa gossiping to my friend

ASecretLemonadeDrinkerDAVE · 07/05/2010 10:49

please please please please.... he has been for a fair voting system all along, any other than this (him 'supporting' tories (right to win anyway) would be back tracking. Oh please god join with us!

BeenBeta · 07/05/2010 10:53

The currency and Gilt markets did not like the idea of Lib-Lab pact when the Labour Party announced it was interested in a Lib-Lab alliance during the early hours of this morning.

The markets have now recovered somewhat as it is clear Clegg and Cameron will be talking.

Cartoose · 07/05/2010 11:01

"NC just said it would join Cons.
Brilliant."

Really??????

booyhoo · 07/05/2010 11:04

can someone explain Trident to me please?

RooBear · 07/05/2010 11:05

I agree ronshar! think its crazy Labour gets to stay when Tory's have more votes than Tony Blair got! It should be first past the post
