Just starting this so that we can all post our thoughts throughout the day.

My wish for today is that as many people as possible GO OUT AND VOTE.

I cannot vote as I have been living abroad for over 15 years so if anyone wants to vote for me, I would like to vote for Gordon Brown. Voting by MN proxy

It is raining here, so the turn-out might be lower than expected.

CwtchyBlueMama · 06/05/2010 08:44

I am going to vote this afternoon when i take ds to school.

Sadly excited about it too.

MmeLindt · 06/05/2010 08:45

Which TV channel is the best for Election Night coverage then?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 06/05/2010 08:52

I always watch the BBC, although the channel 4 thing tonight looks quite funny so I will probably take a look at that from time to time.

LOL SGM. You made her day. She was dancing around the office after she hung up.

'It is raining here, so the turn-out might be lower than expected.'

It's pathetic that rain keeps people from doing their civic duty that people risked life and limb to get them.

Especially when it is entirely possible to have voted by post in the comfort of home.

Voted already by post.

MmeLindt · 06/05/2010 09:03

Agree, Expat. Aside from the fact that you lot life in UK and it is always raining there.

BessieBoots · 06/05/2010 09:04

Am quite excited, if only to watch the alternative coverage on Ch4.

amelem · 06/05/2010 09:05

Just voted, there was a steady flow of people at polling booth, so fingers crossed for a high turnout.

ilovemydogandMrBrown · 06/05/2010 09:05

The MIL is somewhat injured, but said she would crawl to the polling station

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2010 09:09

dh and I voted on the way to taking dd to school. Polling station was very quiet but we have done our duty now. hooray.

InmyheadIminParliament · 06/05/2010 09:10

Mme Lindt you can share my vote if you like.

SilveryMoon · 06/05/2010 09:11

I'm going to vote in about half an hour.
When are the results announced?

droitwichmummy · 06/05/2010 09:12

Just been on the way to take DS to school. Was pouring with rain but there were 2 other people there (apart from the 2 official people!)

Yes, indeed OYBBK

(By the way, OYBBK, I blogged about the weather in Geneva this week. If you want to have a peek, blog url is on my profile)

InmyheadIminParliament · 06/05/2010 09:14

SilveryMoon - the results come in from around midnight onwards, after the polls close at 10 and the votes have been counted.

I think you can go along to your local count, but (someone put me right on this) I think you have to get permission from the returning officer first. Otherwise keep your eyes glued to the tickers going along the bottom of the screen on BBC/ C4 / Sky as they'll announce each result as it comes in.

LadycAshcroft · 06/05/2010 09:16

SGM Lol at your story.

Expat You are quite right. I am not English, but my English DH and DS always look at me with big sad eyes when I try to drag them out in the rain.I always quote Paxman's famous line on weather to them 'It's England. What did you expect?!'

ilovemydogandMrBrown My MIL and FIL are on a day trip today which might keep them from voting. One of them is we think UKIP (did not dare to ask), so we do not really mind.

SilveryMoon · 06/05/2010 09:16

Ok, thanks Parliment This is my first time voting. I can't even remember why I've not done it before, lots of moving with work is my lame excuse.
When will the new governemt take power?

AbsOfCroissant · 06/05/2010 09:18

Have voted! There was one Labour person and one Tory person standing around bothering people. Strangely, no BNP ... those people can deliver flyers like Mofos, but fail to turn up at the ballot box (afraid are you?).

Man, I LOVE a good election

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2010 09:19

Excellent - I have my port and cheese and biscuits already.

What an interesting blog MmeLindt - very interesting theory! will look it up in a bit

Hoochie - sorry you are so poorly. Good for you!

toccatanfudge · 06/05/2010 09:19

I'll be here...where is best to follow online???

My TV and computer are in different rooms

Going to go and vote this morning with DS1 and DS3 need more coffee and to wake up first - not much sleep last night
