Who is your MP? What is your prediction?

Mine is John Healey, labour, and I strongly suspect a labour victory here as its never been anything else.

Who holds your constituency and will they return?

(trying to get away from the depressing threads)

Our polling station was like the Marie Celeste this morning. I thought our local councillor (Sean Wright, lab) who doesnt live far away, or even our MP might have been outside to chat you up! When I remarked on the quietness to the polling staff they said "you just woke us up"!

Does anyone else get in the polling booth and their mind goes blank? I dont mean who to vote for, I know that, but I have to read all the names for some reason and then forget if Im supposed to give them a tick or a cross! (either a blonde or senior moment there).

I was on the phone to my MIL last night (she's in NW Norfolk) and when I mentioned Keith she said 'oh isn't he dead then? Nobody's seen or heard of him for years have they?'

Thought that about summed it up.

I am always amused by how much he looks likes what he is. An ex-miliary lecturer, Tory MP. He's a caricature at best.

My Dad worked v hard during the run up to Norman Lamb's election and they became good friends. He is an excellent man.

I'm v interested to see what happens here. I don't like the new boundaries, Broadland in particular covers a lot of disparate parts. I don't think the needs of those villages and towns towards Yarmouth are the same as those around Norwich, which again are very different to the ones towards Raynham. Seems a little illogical to me.

ShowOfHands · 06/05/2010 13:12

alyson, I was saying on a thread last night, I always have a moment in the booth when I think I might vote against my reason in a fit of madness. Like thinking you might jump off a cliff by mistake or throw yourself off the ferry.

X and run here.

islandofsodor · 06/05/2010 13:19

Mine is Charlotte Atkins - Labour. - Marginal seat.

I think she will hang on - just - because she is quite high profile in the area, visiting and getting involved in things and always writes back to you if you email/write to her.

I'm undecided because I want to vote against her party but I think she has been a good MP and got lots done.

animula · 06/05/2010 13:25

Goodness me - have realised we virtually have the Tooting Popular Front on this thread!

PippiL · 06/05/2010 13:25

David Cameron - suspect he may win.

But I'm loving the fact that the fields of bright yellow rapeseed in Oxfordshire are rebelling and clashing nicely with the big blue billboards.

picc · 06/05/2010 13:34

Charles Clarke here (Lab).
Not sure if he'll keep his seat or not...

Lab, Lib and even Green very strong here (we have 12 green city councillors, I think).

I'm kinda reassured that I don't think the Tories will get in, but other than that, I'm not sure....

loulou77 · 06/05/2010 13:49

Ah Heartbrokenforpup...am afraid I was one of those voters at the last election who voted in John Leech...has he not been much good?

Am hoping to be able to work my swing magic again in my new area but Gary Streeter, Tory, had a 10k majority at the lest election and as no one (including him) seems to have done much campaigning I assume he is safe

threestars · 06/05/2010 13:50

ProfYaffle, nobody has canvassed around here either. My village is too far away from Long Stratton/Diss for them to bother (we're practically Norwich, really, and I'd much rather be in Norwich South like picc!)

vintage · 06/05/2010 14:14

Jimmy Hood ,Labour i think he will definately get in again . I did not vote Labour for the first time in my life( and feel guiltridden somehow)no canvassing here at all except Snp Hadnt even heard of about 3 of the people on my voting slip

SparklyGothKat · 06/05/2010 14:18

Grant snapps (con) I think he will keep his seat as live in a very Tory area. Last time the lim dem got just 14% of the votes

insertexpletive · 06/05/2010 14:20

We have Vince Cable - Can't see him not getting back in and on the occasion I have asked him to support things in parliament he has done so, so he gets my vote

abr1de · 06/05/2010 14:32

We have a tight-but-reasonably-secure Tory majority. Our local MP is responsive and gets involved a lot, so I support him. I also like him because he once helped me stack some chairs at a fund-raiser. He didn't have to--nobody was looking.

heather1980 · 06/05/2010 14:58

we have the out going david chaytor (lab) money grabbing f***.
will be tight this year i think.

last time labour only had a 3000 vote majority and our council is hung lab/con so could go either way i feel.

we used to have alistair burt as our mp until he was beaten in 1997. his wife was one of my guiders!.

awayfromhome · 06/05/2010 15:03

another justine greening here - expect that she will win..

Xayna · 06/05/2010 15:44

Tory MP here - John Penrose. We're just round the corner from you Dannyblanchflower (and just like you, it's my first post!).

Whether he'll get in again? I hope not. It was a Tory seat for years and then the Lib Dems won it with a very small margin, held it for a couple of elections and lost it again.

My interest in the Lib Dems winning is compounded by the fact that the candidate is a good friend of ours, so fingers crossed and who knows, we could be having the MP round for dinner in the future!

Eglu · 06/05/2010 15:53

We have David Mundell, currently the only tory in Scotland. I doubt he'll be the only tory for long though.

Think he will get back in tbh.

redrobin · 06/05/2010 15:54

eglu, i'm david mundell too. I'm voting labour though.

ShadeofViolet · 06/05/2010 16:12

Vernon (Rodney) Coaker here. He is labour and I hope he keeps his seat as he does alot for our local area.

I did laugh when I saw his full name on the ballot though

amidaiwish · 06/05/2010 16:51

Vince Cable here

pretty safe seat and a good MP. but he might just have a run on his hands this time, the Tory MP Deborah Thomas seems with it, and good. Last time it was some weird looking ugly numpty bloke.
plus massive issue over the LibDems giving away twickenham riverside to property developers (now on hold as developers are bust) and rejecting the local referendum where 96% voted against the plans, so there may be a surprise in store, you never know.

however judging by the number of orange banners about, i think he will be ok!

sleepychunky · 06/05/2010 17:01

We have Nicholas Soames aka Fatty Soames, grandson of Winston Churchill and possibly the largest MP ever. There is not a chance of anybody else getting in despite the numerous Lib Dem boards I have seen all over the place. If it were a case of voting in whoever has worked hardest to get our vote, it would be Lib Dem. Labour candidate hasn't even bothered to send us any leaflets, and the BNP candidate is a 23-year old marketing accountant (whatever that is..)

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 06/05/2010 17:02

My brother is voting John Healey.

Mine is Lib Dem

Hulababy · 06/05/2010 17:05

My local MP is Nick Clegg, Lib Dem. I suspect he will be holding onto his seat.

YouKnowNothingofMyVote · 06/05/2010 17:12

Robert Goodwill, Con. Marginal seat (Labour until the last election when numbers voting Tory were pretty unchanged but fewer voted Labour).

There's something very wrong with a poor, Northern Constituency having a Conservative MP.

gagamama · 06/05/2010 17:30

Tessa Jowell here too. I think it's reasonably safe, about 5% swing if I remember correctly.
