Why do you think people aren’t? It was all over the media when the story broke a week ago.

Timetakesacigarette · 06/05/2026 11:01

It was on the news last night. He’s a completely greedy crook - worse even than the Tories. A ‘personal donation’ to help with his security expenses my arse. Follow the money - what will he be offering as a ‘thank you’.

Rituelec · 06/05/2026 11:02

Because many are blindsided by their own racism.

Ifailed · 06/05/2026 11:03

It's not been highlighted by the right-wing press (which is most of them) because they want Reform to do well

Currently wondering why my post has been hidden for calling out the double standards of the media 🤨

Lots of people care. I care.

I think it’s the use of the C word. I hope so, anyway.

MrsChristmasHasResigned · 06/05/2026 11:28

I think the people who care already think he is a massive sleaze who is dishonest to the core. And the people who want to support him wont care if you whack them over the head with the 5 mil.

I agree with this.

AImportantMermaid · 06/05/2026 11:34

The people who support Farage wouldn’t care if he fucked a pig live on national television. They don’t like him in spite of his grifting and shady deals. They like him BECAUSE of his grifting and shady deals. They see him as getting one over on the ‘elites’ and don’t recognise that he’s one of them, because they saw a photo of him supping a pint of short date ale in Wetherspoons and spouting random shit about immigration. He has created an outgroup for the people who were the outgroup, and that has made him something of a Svengali to them.

I think people do care, just not everyone. Or they are prepared to overlook it just as many in 2019 were ok to overlook the then Prime Minister and his private life.

I think it’s probably to do with spam and scams

Absolutely this.

The media don't fill every paper or website or social media with it because they want him to win.

Summerhillsquare · 06/05/2026 17:22

Some people are so angry at the world that they'd vote for Gary Glitter if he promised bad things would happen to other groups.

Trouble is,they don't realise they often ARE the other group.

PomplaMouse · 06/05/2026 21:10

I think everyone knows that Reform UK are funded by mega rich donors, often with links to Russia, in exchange for using Reform as a vehicle for their agenda.

Reform voters are seemingly happy to believe that, what's good for the overseas billionaires is also good for your average British person.

There’s a Private Eye podcast? Thank you so much, I’m off to find it now.

Viviennemary · 06/05/2026 21:57

Why should it matter. It was a personal gift. He wasn't even an MP at fhe time or leader of Reform AFAIK.

You have to declare donations from the 12 months prior to being elected, too.

And Farage was the owner of Reform UK at the time, and the donor in question has made huge donations to Reform (infact, he is the largest single donator to any political party in a financial year in UK history).

Personal gift, indeed.

It was very shortly before the 2024 election. Of course he was the leader of Reform. Aren’t you asking yourself what a multi millionaire who lives in Thailand might want in return?

Specifically a man who had made his money through cypto. Farage has, to put it mildly, an interest in cypto. And shortly after receiving the gift he changed his decision not to stand for parliament.
