Currently wondering why my post has been hidden for calling out the double standards of the media 🤨

Same happened to mine when I first posted it. I wasn't impressed.

Why should it matter. It was a personal gift. He wasn't even an MP at fhe time or leader of Reform AFAIK.

A "gift" to support his role in politics, given less than 12 months before he became an MP.

Denim4ever · 06/05/2026 22:22

People do care and their attention has been drawn to it by the Labour local elections flyer sent out. It's on the party leaflet rather than the local one, so it's been brought to wide attention this way as well as in the news

TemperanceWest · 06/05/2026 22:23

He gets very tetchy when asked about it, that's for sure.

I’m not sure he does, he has perfected the art of gaslighting.

It is so bad that the British media control the message. There is no comparison between how news worthy NF receiving a gift of £5 million is, when compared to how much the press hauled Angela Raynor over the coals.

There is some question of how Mrs NF funded a property purchase too. One article seen, nothing on the main news.

Poor.

So Nigel had a present of £5m. I don't think that affected me at all, it didn't increase the price of the shirt I bought nor the cost of diesel.
The fact that Elon Musk has a Trillion Dollars did not cause the sandwich and cup of tea mentioned on another thread to cost £18.00. We have a little more money than my cousin who had a better education than me but I made better career choices.
Is it only envy that causes the grinding of teeth on these threads?

So tetchy he pulled out of his Sunday morning BBC booking lest he should be asked about it.

Didn't it?

Based on the source of the money, I wouldn't be so sure.

Interesting my response has been hidden too. I have noticed a lot of threads on this subject have limited comments.

No, but what it did do was ensure that he will not tax cryptocurrency billionaires and instead pass that tax burden onto you and i.

flowertoday · 06/05/2026 22:52

Less about caring and more about not being surprised. Nigel does not present as a man of integrity or morals. Why would he care where he gets his money from ? Why would anyone else care ?
It is all just more of the same. People with any sense will just see it as further confirmation of what is already blindingly obvious about him. That he is a jumped up little twit funded by others of his ilk. Funding him will keep them all in property and Barber coats. Alot of people will just vote for Reform- Nige and the rest of his motley crew anyway sadly.

Envy? The guy has blatantly broken the rules he is supposed to abide by, which apply to all MPs of all flavours. Not even subtly. No misinterpreted and fluffy legal advice about a slightly complicated property set up. No ill judged football tickets or spectacles. Five million fucking quid.

Well quite. When NF does it, it’s good on him for not paying tax. When AR does it, she should be in prison.

And refused an invitation from Newsnight. Odd that, given he usually turns up to the opening of an envelope if it means media coverage.

Especially when the interviewers rarely bother him with difficult questions.

shouldntmattermilk · 06/05/2026 22:56

Clearly it was a personal gift, nothing to do with politics. A gift from a chum concerned about the amount of milkshakes Nigel has had thrown at him. Totally innocent kindhearted gift.

Of course it does mean he can buy security while pursuing his political career safely but it is absolutely nothing to do with politics and is purely a personal thing.

Yes, I'm not sure what words trigger it exactly, but I do find that posts concerning the origin of the £millions that fund Reform (and - it seems - Farage) do get insta-blocked on here.

Here's a Guardian peace from before the "personal gift" was reported on.

Can anyone remind me what the deal with Nathan Gill was, btw?

Cryptocurrency backed by Farage donor is used for Russian war effort, investigators say

And poor Nigel is the most physically attacked MP of modern times. So he deserves his 5 million to keep him safe.

LeftBoobGoneRogue · 06/05/2026 22:58

Farage is the UK’s version of Trump. Vote Reform at your peril.

I have to say, as awful as it is, I do quite look forward to these reform councils. The idiots who vote them in will get what they deserve

Is he? Did I dream Jo Cox and David Amess and all the assaults on Anna Soubrey and other remain MPs?

What gets my goat is that there are dozens of threads frothing about the Jewish leader of the Green Party apparently being wildly anti semitic, but when it's dear old Nige and his well documented youthful propensity to creep up behind Jewish kids and make hissing noises to imitate the gas chambers......tumbleweed.
