As Trump keeps pursuing this insane violent crackdown, supposedly on illegal immigrants, but actually much beyond that - A woman in Minneapolis was shot, in her car. Luckily there is a ton of video, but Trump's people are already maligning her, and it's a horrible tragedy.

I am watching with absolute horror. That poor woman and her poor family. And the horrific gaslighting announcements from the Administration.

I used to love visiting America. I worked for a US firm for many years and went over there on many business trips. I’ve also made several leisure trips with my family to Florida, New York, etc. I don’t know anyone who will visit by choice now. My Facebook feed is full of airline posts trying to flog cut price flights to the US. The reactions are mostly laughing emojis.

I assume everyone here has read 1984, and is aware of how insidiously this sort of unprincipled behaviour by authorities creeps in. I am most concerned about it. We really do need to be careful about who we choose as our leaders, and always remember that those in power can be utterly unscrupulous. “Power corrupts….” What happens in the US is so easily transferable over here. Trump horrifies me.

A five-year-old boy - ICE holding him by his Spider-Man backpack and taking him with his father to a detention centre - leaving his other brother to come home from school and find his family gone.

We have head ICE honcho, Greg Bovino, having a fine time releasing chemical gas into bystanders and protesters.

We have ICE agents pressing somebody face down, with a knee in their back, while another sprays bear spray into his face. Bear spray.

So we look to you. We see you.

Here’s a picture of the five year-old boy, although I’m pretty sure that anybody that has any decency already knows this is abhorrent. And the rest… well…

Stop rioting and let ICE do their job. We don’t get such incidents outside of blue cities because ICE are allowed to do their duties.

An out-of-context image of a child is not going to change that reality. They will be deported together, as a family, back to their homeland.

Basically you are trying to undermine what we all voted for, with emotional appeal. It’s not going to work.

If you do not have legal status in America, it’s on you to pack up your shit and go home to avoid this outcome. It’s really as simple as that.

Thank you @GoodGriefCharlie you're right not to let anyone distract us from the horrors of Trump and ICE. It's like a crazy dystopian movie that in normal times nobody would expect to come true.

If your solution is, just let 13 million illegal aliens stay in your home country, you are not being serious.

Because blue cities don’t want to work with ICE, they let literal criminals loose on the streets and force ICE to do more work than they otherwise should. At the very least, they need to obey ICE detainers (so criminals get transferred into their custody). No reason for them to ignore those

Red states largely work with ICE and honor detainers. And don’t have crazed leftists trying to disrupt their operations. So less manpower is needed and they can do just as much (or more) with fewer resources.

As I mentioned, ICE are doing a huge operation in Houston and Dallas checking for H1B compliance. They are active in my home city, too, targeting scammers from a certain community (of course they work with ICE no issue)

Nobody in your press is mentioning this. So you think it’s only happening in Minneapolis/St Paul.

Pretty sure most normal people think gluing yourself to a road for ‘climate change’ is part of crazed leftist behavior. It’s a feature of leftists that protesting in such an obstructive manner is encouraged.

ICE officers are not vetted and trained properly, failed police officer only delighted to get guns and a large signing free fo roam the streets rounding up non criminal migrants. I hope he’s horrified at what he’s done.
