Is the murder of Renee Good by Trump's immigration police news in the U.K.?

As Trump keeps pursuing this insane violent crackdown, supposedly on illegal immigrants, but actually much beyond that - A woman in Minneapolis was shot, in her car. Luckily there is a ton of video, but Trump's people are already maligning her, and it's a horrible tragedy.

I'm guessing that the Go Fund Me money is intended to provide for her three children.

That post you're posting about was referring to a fund for the s h o o t e r.

Not sure, but I think the previous poster was saying there's a GFM for the shooter.

Omigod, you're right! I was going so fast that I misread that!

Well, I can only say that Trumpers have the distasteful habit of supporting murderers and would-be murders, if the victim is liberal, or black, or immigrant... For instance, Kyle Rittenhouse, an idiot teenager who took someone else's gun to a local upheaval and ended up killing two people - Trumpers loved him.

Yes maybe not first anymore, which is Iran but a lot of people on social media, but they could be on any country really.

Indeed, and it's already raised half a million dollars. Unbelievable.

PermanentTemporary · 13/01/2026 06:12

For the shooter?? Why? His legal fees or something?

SouthernNights59 · 13/01/2026 06:38

I'm in New Zealand and it's been widely reported here OP, in case you are interested.

Boomer55 · 13/01/2026 08:45

My son emigrated to the US fifteen years ago, when he married an American woman.

He certainly talks to me about it, and the rest of the current chaos with Trump.

Not good, and I worry about him living out there.

Good! (No pun intended.) I'm glad so many of you are aware of it.

There is the hilarious bitter irony of Trump declaring he's willing to take military action against Iran to protect their protesters, while he attacks American protesters here.

I heard that quote from him and was like 'Sir Hiss' from Disney's Robin Hood, when Little John kissed off all the King's ring jewels. So hypocritical.

We've heard about him calling her a 'Fucking bitch' wasn't it? This strongly points towards it being murder for me but are the courts going to prosecute him? I said to my DH that it was really weird how he positioned himself in front of her car the way he did; almost like he was willing it to happen. Combined with his words after the shooting, it sounds like she wound him up and he engineered an excuse to shoot her in the face.

Absolutely appalling and of course, the statement made by Trump straight after was full of untruths. He just says what he fucking likes and hopes 'headology' (as Granny Weatherwax calls it) will make us imagine it to be so.

GoodGriefCharlie · 13/01/2026 09:03

This thread is a relief. Ironically, I’ve seen quite a few pro-Trump comments on the feminist board making excuses for what the woman did wrong. I used to find those boards really interesting and educational - for years actually. Done with them now I think.

Tiredofwhataboutery · 13/01/2026 09:11

For the amount of U.S. news we get you’d think you were our neighbour. There’s more news about the U.S. than the whole of E.U.

The story has been widely publicised.

Yes but we don't care

We being who? Most people care.

The main topic of conversation that relates to stories like this is how little Brits want to go to the US now. Or work there. Most Brits previously viewed a holiday in the States as an unusual but nice luxury. We have all of Europe to holiday in, but being taken to New York for a long weekend or going to Florida for the theme parks, or going to Miami / California, or a big road trip - lovely. Exciting.

Now - no desire to go. Worried about border control and ending up imprisoned because some twat of a guard is on a power trip and they found something I tweeted five years ago. Generally the feeling that a country we felt was our friend no longer is. And is now erratic. We knew Trump was last time round but this time round it feels like it is the entire federal state. And all this slagging off of the UK on social media doesn’t make us feel there’s a friendship either. Friends don’t chat shit (and it is shit) about each other.

No we don't.

It's not our country. Not our relative.

We have enough issues in our own back yard. You can give sympathy for an event but it's having zero affect on your life. You don't know the person, don't live in the country, this will never happen to you.

Oh yeah Iran women are being killed by their government, where is your concern.

Mollydoggerson · 13/01/2026 09:43

It's huge news, I m in ireland, and can think of little else for the last 5 days. It's horrific.

Thankfully there are plenty of people brave enough to protest. It's Natzi Germany, all over again. It must be horrifying living through it.

Stay safe.

AncientMarina · 13/01/2026 09:49

@draft123 and @BorgQueen 's comments don't reflect anything I've heard people say here in my part of the UK at all. Quite the contrary.

We? Speak only for yourself.

It'sbeen widely reported OP, and I and the decent people I know or follow are rightly horrified by the murder.

Alltheyellowbirds · 13/01/2026 10:01

Yes. It’s a huge talking point and everyone is horrified. Though also not surprised if that makes sense - these are thugs who’ve been hired from god know’s where, wearing masks and hoiking people off the streets without having to show ID or warrants first - it was always going to go hideously wrong.

@draft123 speaks for me tbh. It’s absolutely humiliating that a stupid squabble in another country automatically gets to lead our news for two whole days. It might or might not be interesting, but ultimately it’s nothing to do with us. Ridiculous that people here are being made stressed over it.

This isn’t a thread about Iran, so that’s not what is currently being discussed.

Stupid squabble? A woman was shot twice in the face by government agents in a country that's meant to be a world leader?

You must be very busy/an ostrich for that not to be of interest. Still, keep playing it down and it might go away.

ARoomSomewhere · 13/01/2026 10:27

@Sskkayou may see it as 'a stupid squabble' and that of course is your right.

I see it as hugely concerning that the USA has abandoned any pretence of Democracy, is threatening other countries (is it 3, 4 or 5 today?) & is willing to discard NATO. The US as financial backer of European military stability (since WW2) is gone, and that's a seismic change.
All our taxes will need to rise / services be cut to fund an increase in military spending.
The US is being terrorised by ICE & Renee Goods murder was emblematic of that.
OP: yes, we are very aware of it & many of us care very much. Personally I also find it very concerning that our very own Pound Shop Trump, Nigel Farage seeks to do this to UK.

It's sad that some people are so brainwashed, and cowed and bowed by authority that they feel that getting shot three times in the face for protesting (dubious) authority is deserved. This is not FAFO, this is people who say this admitting that they've prostrated themselves before the emperor, and don't even realize it.

But of course, the same people who condone the killing of Renee Good, protest loudly that the killing of Ashely Babbit was murder. Of course. Those who look out for their community from a paramilitary force's cruelty are "domestic terrorists", but those who storm the Capitol and beat and attempt to kill members of the actual police force are patriots and are pardoned. The insanity of this twisted logic.
