The Fabian Society

Is the UK electorate aware that they voted for a Labour government, behind which, is a left wing think tank called The Fabian Society?

TFS advocates gradualist, reformist and democratic means in a journey towards radical ends.

The Fabian Society’s objectives for the rest of the parliament are to:

  1. Support the Labour party to win the next general election and return to government
  2. Secure the adoption of transformative Fabian policy proposals in the next UK Labour manifesto and in policy platforms at every level
  3. Help to build a strong, united and diverse Labour movement
  4. Strengthen the capabilities, activism and reach of the society

I strongly suggest that people seek to understand the real influence that TFS has on this Labour government - it provides an explanation for the last 15 months.

@Nolletimiere Hello! it's normally me who's awake at that time of night not you. You're going to tell me you were up early, aren't you 😂

I'm a bit puzzled by your post.

I do tend to think people knew what they were voting for, yes. And all parties are heavily influenced by a range of groups.

maybe some people were misunderstanding and expecting a Tony Blair type but here we are, in a democracy.

Someone has mentioned Tommy Robinson. I'm pleased to see we had a sane judge today. No, I haven't checked whether he's a member of the Fabian Society 😂

However, the waste of money on that court case is something else. It should never have made it to court in the first place. I'm guessing there will be new joke doing the rounds - "driving while Tommy Robinson".

Both he and Graham Linehan could try and sue the police for damages.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Epping, which is fundamentally a "change of use" case - but actually all governments since David Cameron seem to want to relax those laws so I don't think that's going to go anywhere.

Well that rather puts the kibosh on Robinson's "two tier" justice narrative. He's probably disappointed as he seems to love to play the martyr.

Most things have got worse though.

True

EmeraldRoulette · 04/11/2025 12:05

@PandoraSocks there's no reason why he would be disappointed

Anyway, as is seen in another style of case, the process is the punishment. And I wish they'd stop wasting our money on this shit!

is the court report out yet? I need to procrastinate more 😂

There is an alternate viewpoint ie that many of our judges and people of influence are members of the society. And that they have a belief of disrupting from within. But hey, as it's a left wing group that's OK isn't it? As long as it's left wing views being spread that all is ok. Just as long as it's not a right wing group with that amount of influence and power.

What percentage of our judges and people of influence are in the FS? Is it publicly available information?

Thanks @PandoraSocks!

@twistyizzy, do you know what percentage of our current judges and people of influence that list (which includes dead people) equates to?

TooBigForMyBoots · 04/11/2025 12:25

Strictly entre nous….

Labour aren’t exactly popular at the moment - feel free to corroborate via the strength of feeling on any one of the current threads.

Consequently, I find myself with some really decent allies, with whom I share very similar views.

Would you like to come in from the cold? We have had quite a few join us recently.

That's quite funny. Given how tiny the Tory party has ended up. Speck and mote and all that.
