Anyone else really concerned about asylum seekers killing people, seemingly to get a life term prison sentence?

Just to clarify I'm a lifelong labour voter before I get told I'm a deform bot!
Locally to me an assylum seeker from Ethiopia has just been jailed for 25 years for the murder of a man in a bank in broad daylight (he was angry that his application had been turned down).
Earlier this week an afghan national killed 1 person and injured 3 more...
I follow politics, and geo politics (am a history grad) and so I'm aware that the current immigration levels are nothing to what will come when the Sahel region collapses, but is this going to keep happening?
Why can't they be deported? Why should uk tax payers pay?
I have teen dds, and it makes me scared for them.
I know there's no quick fix after years of tory corruption and inaction, but what could be done within a legal framework?
Would rejoining the EU help stop the boats?

I don’t know, if you listen to the woman’s voice, before she begins to cry, it sounds almost distorted and different to the rest of her voice. Also in what she’s saying, talking about everyone she knows being stabbed and having to go out with a man, these are all far right myths about society that they put out to make people scared. I’m surprised she didn’t mention grooming gangs to be honest. It could be genuine I suppose, but I’m not so sure personally.

Right, ok. I don't think so at all. Her voice sounds like she's crying. Be glad you don't live in an area affected by these 'far right myths'.

It’s ok you need to take a look at this posters posts elsewhere to see which way the wind blows.

Yes, but surely the answer to all of this is a well-funded, well-staffed, fair and efficient asylum claims assessment system and failed claims removal process.
When we have the numbers in the system down to a manageable level we might have a hope of having a more humane process that actually helps those with MH needs, rather than exacerbating those MH issues through the chaotic system we have at the moment.
And we need all sides of the political spectrum to get on board with getting there. At the moment Reform and the Tories are sabotaging any attempts to address this shitshow.
OP - don't confuse the amount of news coverage you hear with actual crime rate statistics

“At the moment Reform and the Tories are sabotaging any attempts to address this shitshow.”

And what is Labour doing at the moment to address this shit show then? How do you feel their one in one out (and one back in again) scheme is going?
Because from where I’m standing it looks as if it’s Labour that’s sabotaging any attempts to address this shit show by making feeble, half hearted attempts to make it ‘look’ like they are doing something.

The man that was wrongly released did not serve his sentance, though?
I find the whole thing hard to understand.
It wasnt one person's mistake...many people must have failed in their job for him to walk out of that prison..

Edited

They did. He repeatedly returned to the prison to explain to them that he was supposed to go to a deportation centre but the prison reception staff just told him to leave. He then approached police officers, dressed in prison greys, to try and get them to believe him. They don’t and instead told him to take the train to London.

it absolutely beggars belief, especially considering how high profile his arrest and conviction was.

He actually sounds like a pretty responsible bloke overall, I imagine that most of our ‘home grown’ criminals would have simply vanished into the streets but he actually tried to do the right thing. It’s a pity they sent him back he could have been rehabilitated for sure.

A pretty responsible bloke? He's a sex offender. Although as we've seen clearly on your other threads, your own sexual proclivities are hardly virtuous, so maybe birds of a feather are flocking together.

He’s a sex offender ffs! Told a 14 year old he wanted to get her pregnant and you think he’s a reasonable bloke! Jesus wept!!!!

So you think it's reasonable for a man to approach any unknown woman, so long as they're an adult, and tell them they want to get them pregnant? Is it only acceptable when the man in question is an illegal immigrant - can hardly imagine you'd extend the same indulgence to a white British man?

I’m not going to waste any time defending this guy, it’s clear he did a very bad thing. I just get very defensive when people call asylum seekers into question and paint them as bad people because of one crime committed by a bad person and I want to make the case that the vast majority are just good people who want to make Britain, their new home, a better place.

He had agreed to voluntary removal. It’s a standard offer - £500 to quietly get on a commercial flight and piss off. Despite the outrage it generates among the tabloids it is much, much cheaper than forced removal - which involves extremely expensive charter flights and guards. The vast majority of airlines won’t touch forced removal so the handful of charter companies that do them absolutely rinse the government as they know there is no choice - costs are typically 25-30k per removal.

It reminds me of when I read about people still sending ‘fan mail’ to Ian Watkins while he was in prison for the attempted rape of a baby among all the other disgusting things he’d done. Some people obviously seem to just think crimes like rape of children are no big deal!
