It’s not like the U.K. There’s no vote of no confidence or replacing him with someone the base prefers. There is a fixed order of succession. Vance would be the president for the rest of the term. If Vance died or was impeached and convicted (which has never happened) next in line is Mike Johnson, but I just can’t see any world in which that happens.

We may as well not have a vote of no confidence though. If it wasn't used under Truss then it never will be.

Vance would have to pick a VP (which may well be Johnson) but then Johnson would have to resign as speaker (and leave the House).

The succession is POTUS<-VPOTUS<-Speaker of the Representatives<-President of Senate and then through the cabinet.

As Gerald Ford showed, you can end up with a POTUS that nobody technically voted for (see also: Truss, Sunak).

Yeah, that and his incredibly swollen ankles. Thats what i thought it stemmed from.

Quite common, heart attack or stroke. Assassination or suicide (not likely). We also have no idea how healthy he is, no one would be allowed to say if he wasn't.
