I think he's having a procedure done. Those tweets are not his and that picture today was not convincing

Nixon deliberately engineered the Vietnam war to continue (by pressuring the South Vietnamese into not accepting a peace deal) in order to boost his election chances.

He too has blood on his hands.

JFK reinforced US military involvement in the Vietnam war. He presumably also has blood on his hands. (As well as having got to the White House through his father’s electoral criminality.)

Reagan’s appalling handling of the AIDS crisis cost so many lives. He was an awful man.

That's where Mrs Thatcher - whatever you may think - deserves some credit.

When she heard the science - despite her moral and ethical opposition - she followed advice. And the UK led the world in tackling the crisis.

"McDeaths"
Perfect thank you @Lalgarh

Yes of course they are. But its not expressing dislike or disapproval. It's wishing death on someone like Trump who is certainly not good, but hardly evil. Whereas monsters who slaughter children don't inspire anywhere near the same level of hatred. It's wrong.

But I see Trump as evil. Withdrawing Medicaid provisions so people will die as they can’t afford to treat their conditions? Evil. Withdrawing humanitarian aid to countries suffering from war etc so people will die? Evil. Overturning rights to abortion/contraception/pregnancy care so more women and newborns will die? Evil. Withdrawing federal disaster relief so people will die? Evil.

He simply doesn’t care about anyone who isn’t rich, white and male. Everyone else he just sees as a burden on him and his buddies money making schemes. God
help us if he gets his hands on the NHS here.

If you’re not angry, you’re not paying attention.

Do you donate a large proportion of your personal income to humanitarian charities? Do you think anyone who doesn't is evil? (rather than just making a different values choice than you) All he's doing for Medicaid, humanitarian aid and disaster relief is not mandating that all Americans must give. You might disagree with that - politically and as a personal choice - but it seems very extreme to call it evil. He's not actively killing anyone, he's just not mandating charitable giving to all Americans.

(or are you one of those who doesn't realise that every penny of state spending comes from someone's pocket - a real, living, individual taxpayer who has less money to spend as a result)

As for the abortion question - whilst I strongly want any country I or my DD live in to have easy access to contraception and abortion choice, many other people around the world equally strongly believe that is itself evil. It tends to be a cultural value - with each country typically landing one side or the other. But the US is divided quite evenly: with half and half of the country passionately holding opposite values.Trump has actually stayed out of the argument - and pretty much let the country decide - which is democratic at least. (I don't think he really cares either way). It makes me not want to go there - and I'm really sad for young American women - but Trump isn't personally evil for that.

Trump and Kennedy are endangering millions of Americans health

Not to mention terrible impact of global health through cutting USAID

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 01/09/2025 20:31

People are dying because of Trump's decision about USAID. Hundreds of thousands of people, a majority of whom are babies and children. I think deliberately causing hundreds of thousands of unpleasant and unnecessary deaths probably comes within the definition of "evil".

As for
(or are you one of those who doesn't realise that every penny of state spending comes from someone's pocket - a real, living, individual taxpayer who has less money to spend as a result)

I assume you are not aware that people in Iowa or Texas or (name a state, most of them suffer natural disasters and need help sometimes) do in fact pay both federal and state taxes? Mind you, as a result of the disasters they may cease to be living.... But they will have been real individuals first.

As will the Americans whose medical assistance has been removed so that they die. They also are taxpayers, in the main.

And the women who can’t access lifesaving reproductive care.

I think the U.S.A.I.D. thing seems remote to some people but perhaps not so when they realise they were instrumental in managing outbreaks of Ebola in Africa, preventing them getting out of hand across borders. If I were religious I’d say god help us all.

Falseknock · 01/09/2025 22:28

I have a question for Americans on this thread are you like Trump?
I do wonder whether all Americans have the pout mouth or if they talk the same as him. He is their leader after all.

Yes I donate to charities. But federal fiscal policy making by the President is nothing to do with charities.

Ive studied politics and economics at post graduate level so yes, I do understand that tax payers … pay tax Hmm

Medicaid, disaster relief and health care are NOT about “charitable giving”. That is completely the wrong terminology for these provisions.
Stop trying to fudge it by pretending that vast rich economies shouldn’t provide these.

Falseknock · 01/09/2025 22:46

"Withdrawing humanitarian aid to countries suffering from war etc so people will die? Evil. Overturning rights to"

@Zodiacrobat I agree and everything else you said in your post. I don't know where you are from so I am assuming you are American. In England the English people are protesting for no migrants to come here. If aid has stopped what do they expect them to do stay and die? The canary islands are getting it as well. What do people expect them to do it's a live or die situation. That's another thread and argument. Voting is powerful and there is a lot of ill informed people out there. Trump is only in it for himself. After what Trump has done Americans will never be trusted again. China is positioning themselves as the next superpower.

Falseknock · 01/09/2025 22:58

It's no coincidence that Trumps bestie is rubbing shoulders with China. Trump will have his big sack of money at the end of his term. He doesn't care about Americans he's rich. Trump comes from one arse cheek and Boris is on the other cheek. Their whole agenda was to incite hate and make money from stupid people.

Zodiacrobat · 01/09/2025 23:18

The individual people living their lives in countries with vast rich economies can choose to elect governments who will spend some of the substantial taxes they contribute on Medicaid, disaster relief and health care. Or they can choose to elect governments which won't.

When they choose to support their taxes being given to other people, then yes - that is a form of charitable giving. It's within a social contract where they expect that similar will be given to them if they need it. But that's all it is: human giving within the context of a social contract.

So Trump is making an announcement at 2 p.m. today from the Oval office

One can but wonder.....

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 30/08/2025 20:02

True dat.

I always slightly attributed Trump's keenness to spend time with Putin to the fact that Trump is clearly the taller man.

Donald is beholden to Vladimir for something FAR MORE SERIOUS than simply liking to stand next to a man shorter than him.
What that is, is the eternal question.
It’s the question of all questions.
Believe me. lol

Vlad and Xi discussing organ transplants, and how they could live to 150

God knows what ideas this will give Trump

Nothing drives instability in a regime more than the suggestion the leader has another 10 years ....
