This migrant problem is going to let Reform in isn’t it?

Honestly it’s such a bloody nightmare. Reform are making a total hash of local government from what I’ve read, putting teenagers in charge of whole departments with no relevant experience. What are they going to do if they are elected to run a country!!!! I’m honestly terrified. Labour need to be seen to be actively doing something to quell the far-right momentum that’s gaining traction from ordinary folk. I’m amazed at the average, usually pretty sensible people around me who are now telling me they are going to vote Reform.

there was an interview I saw yesterday where the minister said that thousands of people were being deported regularly. The interviewer asked why there were no videos of this and she said there could be. Well let’s see it! It would absolutely help.

👏👏👏

Do you know, reform, want to privatise the nhs?
That’s just one thing.Nigel Farage is conservative always has been.He doesn’t care about people on low incomes, or people who are disabled.
I voted for voted for Reform last time, l won’t be again The more l read up on the Reform party, the more l realise it’s just all about immigration, their other policies would, be like going back to Victorian times, for the 'lower class’.The poor, get poorer.

Do they want to privatise the NHS? Reform is interested in exploring alternative funding models such a European insurance a scheme but they are on the record as saying they will not go for full USA privatisation.

Is Labour right to claim Reform UK would ‘scrap the NHS’? – Full Fact

In the run-up to the local elections, Labour is warning Reform UK would make people pay to use the health service—a claim the party’s strongly denied. Full Fact looks at the evidence.

Many European governments spend more per capita on healthcare than we currently do. They have spent more than us for a long time.
I don’t think you should assume that an insurance based model will automatically lead to tax cuts.

Oh and the media has suddenly exploded on immigration since Labour got in. Despite it being caused by the Tories and in particular Brexit.

Yes.And Nigel Farage would have a coalition with them (Tories) The conservatives are out for a reason, why on earth would having Reform in government be any better, when they are just like the conservatives.

Because Reform will Stop The Boats. Once that is done Britain will be Great Again.

Reformites are in for an awakening if Farage and Co. form the next government.

Remember the broken promises of Brexit, Reformites? Prepare for that level of disappointment on steroids.

Last August Farage Riots concerned people

Two out of every five people arrested after participating in last summer’s riots had been previously reported to the police for domestic abuse, the Guardian can disclose.

Or the other take might be that Brexit actually happens….

Brexit has happened, we left the EU

Elasticareboot · 26/07/2025 16:43

Although @Notonthestairs the reality is 1/3 of British people have paid for private health, so regardless of whether it results in tax cuts, it could still be popular.

PandoraSocks · 26/07/2025 16:57

@Soulfulunfurling

Brexit happened. Weleft the EU. But what happened to the sunlit uplands and unicorns that the Brexiteers were promised? How is life better for any ordinary person because of it?

The same will happen with Reform's promises. Nothing will change for the better for ordinary people if Farage becomes PM. Nothing.

Are a lot of the one third insured privately via their employer?

Do you have a link to figures please?

Elasticareboot · 26/07/2025 17:11

@PandoraSocks - a mix, some paying out of pocket - I’ll see if I can find the bbc article I was remembering but this:

https://yougov.co.uk/health/articles/45568-one-eight-britons-turned-private-healthcare-last-1

my point is, for all the importance of the nhs, and the debate around privatising, a
crazily high amount of people already have sought treatment elsewhere.

if the tories or reform made any slight nod towards making it easier to integrate nhs and private, any tax incentives at all think it would be v popular.

One in eight Britons turned to private healthcare in the last 12 months | YouGov

The median private healthcare spend was £500

I am on groups for child mental health and so many parents have paid out of pocket for help there. People on very ordinary incomes faced with three year waits.

No issue with that/. Most of the things that work well in the country are private. Most of the things that are shit are public. A privately run NHS would be amazing. Many of us already have private health care and it is considerably better than the NHS. Some people seem to think the NHS is untouchable when really it a massive money pit of incompetence.

I for one can’t wait for reform to take over. I voted for them last time and I will next time too.

Same

Lioncub2020 · 26/07/2025 17:44

I voted labour last time as I wanted change. Starmer talked about game before about reducing the welfare bill, smashing the gangs, but has ended up with more of the same. Just more and more people living their best life funded entirely by the state. It's disgusting. Reform is really the only option left. I think we will see a Farage landslide at the end next election, and are already miles ahead is the polls and that is only going to increase with this shit show of a government - backtracking the minute a few people get upset about anything. We need to get the country back to work, and stop bring in foreign labour to mask the worthlessness of some brits.

PandoraSocks · 26/07/2025 18:13

You'd better pray then that you don't become seriously ill or disabled or lose your job when Reform are in power then @lioncub2020. You could end up as one of the "worthless Brits" you so despise.

When this is the level of thinking amongst the electorate, it's hard not to lose hope really. How can we have hope for the future of the country when this is the level of reasoning that people apply to their choices?

I am torn between feeling furious with people like this and simultaneously feeling really sorry for them.

Agree.I think people have just lost hope, unfortunately l was one of those, l voted for reform, won’t again, reform are not the answer. It’s all about immigration, that’s all some people are focusing on
The people who are going to vote reform, do they actually know of all reforms policies, no, l didn’t but the more l’m finding out about them, it worries me.
people if you’re going to vote reform, just look a bit deeper into what they actually stand for.

Many of us have private health care?so why still use the nhs. Most things that work well, are private, really
How much was your water bill recently l wonder
Mine has doubled, on a water meter, there’s been no change in the amount of water l use.Still at least the share holders are happy.

Such as the water industry, and trains? Our water is barely safe to drink and our rivers are dying.

If you vote Reform, you vote for their policies.
