Is the growing intrest in the reform party a sign that racism is growing in this country and has now become acceptable.

Could someone please explain to me how wanting to control immigration is 'racist'.

It’s used as a form of trying to silence by the likes of the op.

Yes, I do, I think he's a decent individual. Certainly compared to Truss and that liar, Johnson. I also thought Theresa May was not a bad person, especially after she apologised for her language on asylum seekers.
I think voters are being fickle and somewhat hypocritical. On the one hand, they want politicans to be honest and not push problems into the long grass. Yet on the other hand, Starmer and Reeves are being honest about the problems they face, and trying to rectify the economy. And they are being punished for it. People want the economy sorted- spending needs to be reduced- yet people seem to think they shouldn't be affected by this, it should be other people who pay. When the Daily Mail and Reform making false claims about what migrants get,and how we are being invaded by people who want to destroy our culture and decamp en masse into five star hotels, no wonder some people actually belive these falshoods and think if we just closed the door, everything would be magically solved.

Starmer, Reeves and majority of cabinet couldn't be honest if their lives depended on it. Which is the whole reason for the results this week!
They lied about everything and anything in order to get elected, then "forgot" all those promises once in power, showed that they are economically illiterate and have managed to piss off everyone apart from die hard Laboyr supporters.
Starmer is an authoritarian, refuses to accept accountability, displays exceeding arrogance and refuses to listen. As do majority of cabinet.
Many of support for Reform came from voters telling Labour that they fundamentally disagree with the direction of travel and Starmer's response "we will go faster"! People don't want him to go faster, they want him to bloody stop!

Troll because I disagree with you?
Why is it lefties like you simply can't discuss without throwing out insults? You say you work in a school yet have little critical thinking ability, that's worrying.

And what exactly are Labour doing for SEND kids? Nothing is the answer. Overall school budgets are being cut and they are forcing more SEND kids into mainstream settings + making the process of getting an EHCP harder with the Schools Bill limiting parental ability to appeal decisions!

Edited

Troll becuase you've called me thick and bigotted, and am apparently am also lacking in critcal thinking skills as well.
How can you possibly blame Labour when they've been in power nine months, after the massive black hole in the economy they've inherited? That makes no sense.
It's Tory councils who are forcing parents to appeal EHCP decisions, not the Labour government. It's the Reform Leader who says that we are 'massively overdiagnosing those with mental illness problems.'
As a previous metals commodities trader, what qualifications does Farage have to diagnose en masse people and children's SEND status?

@countingthestar

Since the referendum held 23 June 2016, many posters have attempted to police and block post and posters who do not agree with them.

It’s why I voted reform on 1 May 2025.

I wonder whether you'll actually get what you want? What are you expecting from them is my question to you?

Do you value your local council, the NHS, British farming, paid holidays, fair rights at work, freedom of speech etc. What you might not realise is there's more in the Reform manifesto than just stopping boats. Reform like Trump actually in reality don't like real freedom of speech.... don't like the free press. What you are seeing is all staged interviews.

And you called me a troll so we are even? If you seriously think I am then report me.

Ah the black hole that they magically turned into a super massive black hole within a couple of months?
Have you even read the Schools Bill and the limits it will impose on parental rights?

Instead of blaming Tories, take a long hard look at the policies Labour are bringing in. Your own union ie NEU has identified the budget cuts for 25/26. SEND is in crisis yet Labour tried to supress the NAO report which stated this.
Thankfully looks like Phillipson is gone but her policies remain and I would suggest you take a long hard look at the details of them all.
This version of Labour is not the Blair Labour of Education, Education, Education

Because if you spend time talking to people who wish to control migration, racism is often the cause of it. Not always, but often.
Look at facebook posts, look at the Daily Mail comments, look at Reform candidates' social media posts, look at the colleague who said that they thought Sadiq Khan supported 9/11 (overheard in my primary school staffroom for crying out loud) listen to the comments of those British people trying to to burn other humans alive in migration centres last summer. Not everyone who has concerns about migration is racist- but a lot of them, whether they admit it to themselves or not, are

Of course Starmer and Labour are responsible for the decisions they make. There have been plenty that have impacted people negatively.

Please explain authoritarian because I've travelled the world and this government doesn't come close. I visited Romania under communist rule and I can tell you that you wouldn't be saying bad things about that regime....you would have vanished.

They have been honest and clear. The country has a huge gaping hole in its finances and has ambitions to fix crumbling schools, fund the NHS, fill billions of pot holes, deal with an aging population and dementia epidemic....all this costs money....not to mention wars and tarriffs. They were elected to fix the country not cut even more services.

I'm sorry you don't like that but that's how democracy works. If Reform are elected I'll have to deal with all the cuts that come with it.

"fix crumbling schools, fund the NHS, fill billions of pot holes, deal with an aging population and dementia epidemic". Those are all soundbites, not policy!

They can't do any of that without a sound economy yet they brought in policies which stymied growth and resulted in redundancies + business closing. Like I said, economically illiterate

I didn't punish them, I didn't vote Reform!
What's to say the Reform councillors won't be hard working etc?
The local results were a protest against Westminster and what Labour are doing. Surely that's not hard to understand?
Are you even aware of how much Labour is hated across the country? I suspect not in your little bubble. They are pretty much loathed at present and in the absence of a general election etc people took their dissatisfaction out in the council elections.
Labour need to wake the fuck up or they will lose the general election.

It sure is. And look where we are after 9 months. The FPTP system is struggling to deal with a new set of outcomes.

Such a fast decline for Labour. We could be anywhere in three to four years. Including a Reform that doesn’t need a coalition.

Not true actually. Not a core demographic admittedly but certainly not a done deal. Until now of course! It isn't just farmers though, it's people in rural areas who see that whenever a farm is sold, a new housing estate pops up and more pressure on local resources.

dubsie · 04/05/2025 09:10

It's not just Labour is it though....the conservatives didn't do very well either.

People voted in a Labour government it's pledge was to spend. The FTSE 100 is actually doing pretty well comparably. There are signs of recovering economy....what we need to do is join the common market.

It’s not that people don’t have mental illness problems. It’s that once diagnosed, it’s seen as a lifetime burden and costs the county a fortune.
The point of having drugs and appropriate treatment is to enable people to work and live useful lives which will pay back the cost of the support.
