Will Reform win any votes at the local elections?

I just mean basic food, I didn't realise you'd be so pedantic.

Do you believe they are getting fine dining meals in their 5* accommodation?

Bank. Interest and debt will be cheaper than current process of putting them in hotels.

Oh wow, you really have all the answers. Who thought there would be such simple solutions? Have you thought about running for Prime Minister?

If France is a safe country, why leave that safe country to come to the uK on a dingy?

Firstly, is it fair that France takes all asylum seekers? Obviously not.
Secondly, the vast majority of asylum seekers end up in other European countries. The UK only takes 5 to 15% of all asylum seekers coming to Europe. It's a complete myth that most come here for benefits. They simply don't. Other European countries take more asylum seekers than us. If you Google you'll see other countries in Asia and Africa take more asylum seekers than us.

Tories are shit, Labour are shit, Lib Dem’s no chance. Yes I think Reform will definitely get votes!

Same levels of economic understanding and social compassion…

Could very well be. She wants to start her own social media platform so this could be her dipping her toe in the water.

I agree that they may not translate, but according to the polls, Reform are leading and have been steadily increasing in popularity. Starmer's popularity is dropping steadily and Badenoch doesn't seem to be warmed to by voters.

Can you give me details of how Reform will solve the NHS crisis please?
How will they afford the 17 billion that they have pledged?

In comparison Labour pledged around £2bn extra, and the Lib Dems £5.8bn extra.

Alexandra2001 · 19/04/2025 16:12

TalkToTheHand123 · 19/04/2025 14:54

Nope, don't want to make them feel comfortable, wanting them to return to France. Yeah sewage system, basic would do, a pipe straight to the sea, works for the water companies.

Ummmm there is a bit of a hole in your argument... they cannot return to France, if they have no papers.
France isn't required to take them and if they do have papers, France still doesn't need to take them & how would they even get to France?

The bottom line is, once they are here, they just have to wait and eventually, they'll be settled here.

The irony is that Farage was a key driver of Brexit, migrants didn't cross the channel pre brexit because there was always the chance they could be returned, hard to charge '000s to cross, if you might be returned.

Of course brexitiers deny this but the fact is pre 2020, when we officially left the EU, hardly anyone came here via a dinghy.

To be fair the Labour Government have gone back on so many of their commitments, that we can't rely on their figures either.

My DD works in NHS, she has seen her waiting lists drop from 12 weeks for therapy to 4 weeks.

A combination of more staff and better organisation of lists and where therapies delivered.

My FiL returned a suspect sample for cancer, 3 weeks later and he is in for tests... thats a marked improvement on previous waits.

Right so your "solutions" so far have been speed up the application process, which would mean employing 1000's of civil servants and building new detention centres (all whilst the Reform party are promising cuts in tax), and disregarding international laws.

Critical thinking isn't your strong point really is it?

Fluffyholeysocks · 19/04/2025 16:22

@Alexandra2001 I'm glad to hear it, of all the cabinet ministers in the Labour Government, Wes Streeting is the one I'm most impressed by. His job is one of the hardest in Government so it's good to hear of progress.

BIossomtoes · 19/04/2025 16:22

The government has already speeded up the application process without employing any more civil servants.

anniegun · 19/04/2025 16:23

Reform are a limited company using hate and intollerence to further the aims of Farage and his cynical (and largely hidden) backers from the US and (quite probably Russia) They have no real economic or social policies. Apparantly everything was the fault of the EU. And now its been shown that Brexit didnt solve our problems they are pointing their finger at immigrants

My thinking is fine, your level of understanding is the issue.

You don't need to employ more, just make the process more efficient which can easily be done.

Tax cuts would stimulate the economy.

The expense of centres would reduce the cost of boats of immigrants due to the deterent.

Yep. And they are closing down many of the asylum hotels that the tories requisitioned.

True, but to get it to the levels Reform are promising then it will require more staff.

Labour are talking about hubs in the Balkans. I’m not sure they are that averse to building or paying for centres.

Tax cuts are wonderful. We all love tax cuts. Where does the money come from for pensions, roads, the NHS, schools, police, defence... from feeding asylum seekers bread and water?

Brexit was a start, but needs further work which hasn't been managed very well.

The finger has always been pointed at immigrants also.
