Well it took a couple of weeks to build Nightingale hospitals everywhere - what happened to them? I think it was the 4 star hotels pissed everyone off and encouraged more and more

Disgusting on absolutely all levels.
I hope this doesn't represent the average Reform voter. Starting to think it's a wind up...

Unfortunately it’s true of most Reform voters. They don’t care about the environment either. I think one of Reform’s policies is to get rid of Net Zero.

Realistically where does a young man on a dingy presume to make a living/home/family where actually is the job and the home and the wife or will he just think that benefits is the answer long term

Brexit was a start, but needs further work which hasn't been managed very well.

The finger has always been pointed at immigrants also.

What further work? what hasn't been managed?

Do you ever consider that much like smashing a window and then trying to glue it back together again, Brexit can never work.

Finger being pointed at migrants is because many people here are racist, our parents and grandparents may have put up "No Irish Gypsies etc" in B&B, rental properties etc.. & were awful to Windrush migrants ..... we haven't changed.

The only thing Reform are doing is getting lots of people all over social media platforms spreading lots of false stories stirring up the public. Tell me oh wise one when has Nigel Farrage followed through on all his Brexit promises? Where is the fishing that was promised? It hasn't happened but they have had lots of time to do it. Where's all the money that was promised to the hospitals??? Has he actually followed through on anything?

He wants to bring back fracking.

They get benefits to top up cash in hand, no tax payments.

Reform have 4 MPs in Parliament, they did not win a majority to form the incoming Government. The Labour Party won, they formed a Government and implement Labour policies - not Reform policies.

Don't need to, it is so widespread.

Anyways just read, UN have approved overseas processing hubs, so all good.

op you do need evidence to substantiate a claim like that or you could be accused of being bigoted/xenophobic/racist. I’m sure that’s not the case…

Bummblebeee · 19/04/2025 17:17

How hilarious that everyone in this thread is acting as if there is absolutely nothing wrong with the current immigrant levels in this country.

Absolutely we should have empathy and help those genuinely in need but let’s not pretend everyone in those boats fall into that category.

Why should we pretend that coming by boat is the only way people can enter this country? It is the way that SOME people use when they would like to avoid giving accurate information, like age.

I do not like many parts of what Reform stand for, I also struggle to find substance when looking at what else they stand for. BUT there is a reason they have gained a following, there is a problem with immigration is this country. If there was not a problem being experienced by people then this party would have no traction.

And by the way ladies I think it’s shameful how some of you are being so rude and judgemental to OP. Not every adult follows politics closely, not everyone can, not everyone wants to, not everyone has the time. This is why we have representatives we can read a summary about and some people are content to vote that way. People are allowed to say “I don’t know the ins and outs of every policy this party stands for but when I read a little bit about every party, this is who I would like to represent me”. If you disagree with OP then why not try to give her a different opinion rather than being rude to her? Or is getting the boot in on a dog pile what you’re really interested in?

If people want to give an opinion on politics then surely they should educate themselves on policies instead of voting blindly or listening to everything they hear on Facebook and taking it as gospel truth.

When you start saying people aren’t welcome in the conversation because they do not know enough by your standards, you’re going down a slippery path.

Many people choose not to lean too much into politics, they are still allowed opinions. Open conversation welcomes all opinions at all levels of education on the topic.

Any platform that’s used for social interaction online is going to be rife with political opinions, personal experiences, information and misinformation. It’s best to confirm away from social media but by the very purpose of social media it will always be used by people when they’re forming opinions. (Although I haven’t had Facebook in a long time). You go onto any social media platform these days and it’s just full of political posts. Blame the division and competition between the parties.

Really, can you provide a link to that information?

As I said earlier, asylum seekers are not allowed to work and receive an allowance of £49.18 per week for food, clothing, toiletries or £8.86 if meals are included.

Economic migrants play tax and are usually not entitled to benefits

From the Gov.uk website

Migrants in the UK on visas, illegally or seeking asylum are usually ineligible for welfare benefits and social housing. This is referred to as having ‘no recourse to public funds’, or ‘NRPF’.

It’s known that SOME immigrants do work cash in hand. I know there has been some upset over some paying people to open food delivery accounts for example.

I can’t find any exact stats because as you can imagine it’s a very difficult thing to get reliable information on.

But I will link you a page from Migrant Help’s website that warns against cash in hand work. Something they wouldn’t need if the people they are supporting weren’t working cash in hand at all.

Beware of illegal cash-in-hand employment

Working undocumented can have very serious consequences on your asylum claim. Illegal employment can easily turn into labour exploitation. 47% of victims reported in the UK are forced into labour.

SOME immigrants, same as SOME British citizens

They don't get benefits as a top up as the OP claims

Notaflippinclue · 19/04/2025 17:48

It was on the National news last week that nail bars, barber shops, American Sweet shops, car washes, Uber, go eat, and corner shops were being targeted at long last by police for money laundering and using cash in hand illegal migrants. Come on folks wake up!

I think you’ve misunderstood her. I believe what she meant was that some work cash in hand and do claim benefits without declaring their work. That’s why she said as top up to cash in hand. People that claim benefits but also work and declare often call benefits a “top up” to their earnings
