Will Reform win any votes at the local elections?

Withdraw benefits from people who don't accept a job after 2 offers. Is this good, yay or nay?

Take it up with the BBC - I didn't disingenuously quote from their article - you are reading too much into my post.

However, your links have reminded me of Starmer’s walkabout outside parliament after Johnson’s misrepresentation – totally orchestrated by Starmer and his team – just like he used Brianna Ghey’s mother to target Sunak (according to the BBC she wasn't even in the public gallery at the time - she was brought in shortly after PMQs - so obviously orchestrated).

Not to mention the attack ad against Sunak (the child sex abusers one). Sunak had not even defended Johnson over the Savile reference - quite the opposite in fact and this is what he gets from Starmer in return;

And to use Brianna Ghey’s death and her mother again yesterday – shameful. Starmer really is a slimy toad – no political scruples at all.

Oh dear Clavinova, you can just say that you like Farage a lot.

No, I wouldn't say that - I don't dislike him. I'm not voting Reform.

TopPocketFind · 24/04/2025 21:22

You cearly dislike Starmer a lot.

Any comments on the screenshots Breakitdown posted?

No it's not clear. It appears as though you're parroting Johnson who accused Starmer of not prosecuting Savile.

I don't believe I was.

In fact Johnson's head of policy resigned over his claims saying, "...it is so desperately sad that you let yourself down by making a scurrilous accusation against the leader of the opposition."

Did anyone resign from Starmer's team over that dreadful attack ad? Presumably not since Starmer doubled down on it.

Lonelycrab · 24/04/2025 21:29

Starmer, although there’s much one can dislike about him (plenty I don’t agree with)

Is light years ahead of…

Kemi the rudderless lightweight bunny in the headlights scrabbling around to seem credible but getting nowhere and getting worse by the day..

And chancer, charlatan, grifter in chief Farage; with the simpleton answers for everything but solutions for nothing.

EasternStandard · 24/04/2025 21:36

I don’t see Starmer as ahead although plenty still like him on mn. Maybe the one of the few places.

Here’s the latest polling, that ‘boots and planes’ bounce has dissipated

Ed Davey for PM then by the look of things if you subtract the positive from the negative

So you weren't trying to say anything, just spouting gibberish. Stands to reason.

I see that you're using whataboutery and will leave it there.

When Saville could have been prosecuted.. what was the Tory Party doing??

Well, according to the Full Fact article posted by the previous poster, the Tories were in opposition - Savile was investigated in 2007 and 2008 and interviewed under caution in 2009.

Starmer of course, as head of CPS and DPP would have defended no one at all.

I didn't say he did - in fact I corrected a previous poster on that point.

Senior civil servants repeatedly warned Margaret Thatcher about the risks of giving Jimmy Saville a knighthood in the 1980s.

It's a pity they didn't warn Tony Blair and Gordon Brown as well - a female guest later complained that she was sexually harassed by Savile at one of Tony Blair's dinner parties at Chequers. Not to mention that Blair and Brown have both been photographed grinning ear to ear next to Savile - how friendly.

Well who do you hope then, Kemi? Nigel?

Genuine question

edit: maybe Jenrick?

TBF More Brits like Starmer than Badenoch...

Normally the opposition get a free pass when a PM is unpopular...

..so what on earth is Badenoch doing?

@Clavinova Whats you re view on Saville and his close links to the Tory Party?

About stopping renewable energy resources and replacing them with equivalent taxes? I wonder who will pay those taxes 🤔

I've already said not Nigel, although I would accept him as deputy prime minister in a coalition - Kemi I don't think will last until the next election. Jenrick possibly.

Thanks for answering- so I guess you see the route to success for the TP is to align and fall in behind reform.

My opinion is they will lose as many votes if not more by doing that.

And ironically; Ed Davey will be the one who gains, just like at the last GE

so what on earth is Badenoch doing?

Struggling - although to be fair, Starmer was pretty rubbish for 18 months or so as well.

Whats you re view on Savile and his close links to the Tory Party?

I'm not actually sure what you are suggesting - you complained about slurs up thread.

You seem quite happy with the Coservative party veering more to the righ or maybe become reform light?

I asked about Badenoch, not Starmer.

Thatcher and the wider Tory party had well known & publicised links to Saville, inc getting him Knighted.

Its fact not a slur, why are you avoiding this point, whilst criticising Starmer over Saville?
