Will Reform win any votes at the local elections?

The number of people eligible to vote who do NOT understand this scares me. I see them all over social media and wonder how they ever go by their daily lives , safely.

This is just nonsense though. They are a political party- they are approved and registered as such. I doubt they’re making any money anyway

Stop the discussion on immigration and let's start a conversation with reform about workers rights and the NHS. Let's hear the truth about there plans because I will bet hardly any of them will like what reform stand for.

The boat crossings are just noise to get votes but once they are in expect a ruthless regime for working classes especially those on crap money.

Why the conservatives and Labour get sucked into the Farage rabbit hole is beyond me....I'd be asking him what are his plans for workers rights....let's hear it Farage. Let's hear the truth. Let's hear about your Insurance based health care system.... according to Farage it will be no more than a Netflix subscription.... please tell us who is underwriting that insurance because you won't find a single insurance company out there that will offer the same cover as the NHS for ten pounds a month.

The guy is a liar and he needs calling out for it... anyone on here who votes for Farage you are an absolute idiot because the guy is a liar and you are falling for it.

Yes this definitely needs to be asked of Farage when interviewing him!

On FB posts, Reform voters say that an insurance based NHS is not part of their plan when it most certainly is. I’ve seen an interview of Farage actually saying what he would do and have posted links (that get removed oddly).

Of course they're making money. Farage wouldn't be doing it if they weren't.

Apparently it's now a 'non-profit [organisation] with no shareholders, limited by guarantee'.

The Reform slogan I saw was 'Reform will fix it' whicb is very dimilar to Saviles 'Jim'll fix it'.

Bob the Builders rallying cry was ''Can we fix it, yes we can'. So no, IMO it's not more Bob the Builder at all.

Their slogan seems to be;

Your local council is broken. Reform will fix it.

I think the op is right - it's more Bob the Builder.

I'm not sure about that. I saw it, I think either on the news or in The Times as a photo. It was just a poster on the front of a podium saying Reform and 'will fix it' in a different colour/typeface. No mention of councils at all.

Amusingly when I uploaded that image it had a warning for sensitive content. I'm no fan of Farage but I think that's a little bit unfair 😂

Jasmine's photo was from their latest conference and that image is being used in the PPBC alongside an attack on immigration.

The photo in my link was apparently taken a week ago.

Well if this sweeping victory as some are claiming will happen at the locals then surely reform are going to have to, with their newfound popularity and power..,actually fix things.

When you look at the quality of their candidates at eg the last election, many were found out to be completely dodgy- all sorts of murky things in their past; not the kind of people that you’d trust to get anything done.

And when you look at how their 4 MPs have conducted themselves in parliament at times of crucial debate… those 4 MPs weren’t there fighting their corner, they were nowhere to be seen.
They’re happy to spout sound bites but when it comes to the nitty gritty…no fixing it for anyone going on and once again Farage was in the US sucking up to Trump.

So maybe as I think it was @blossomtoes said; give them the chance and as soon as they wield any power they will be shown up as the chancers that they are, as they’ll probably end up really messing things up even more than they are already. They’re starting from a high position rn. Promise the world, but have zero responsibility to deliver anything.. Once the real world kicks in with them as a party, and how they cope with that? The signs don’t look good.

pointythings · 23/04/2025 21:36

Variations my arse. It should not have been used at all, ever. Only a Reform apologist could think otherwise.

Well, to be fair, I don't think Labour were much better;

Not to mention Dan Norris, Tulip Siddiq and Louise Haigh.

Lonelycrab · 23/04/2025 22:02

Sure Clav, every party will have its dodgy elements, pretty much none are excluded from Libs to Tories to Green etc…

But when you scale up the power gain for reform to deliver a working majority- they have 4 MPs and suddenly they’re going to gain 250+ MPs to reach a majority…
(what’s that percentage increase and has anything ever been seen like thatConfused… ten thousand percent?!?)

Then, looking at the quality of their candidates in the previous elections…

Theres going to be a whole lot of dodgy people elected by the country on the basis that these dodgy people are the best choice to run the country.

Its cloud cuckoo land.

This is the scenario @EasternStandard thinks is likely. I don’t agree that there are nearly enough uninformed voters to make that happen.

I said possible. The gain in 8 months is already a leap. 4 to 180 for voting intention in that time.

I’m following More in Common and pretty much agree with their analysis. It’s not a prediction.

If More in Common are not saying it then I’m not either. I’m impressed with how close they got the last GE though.

Lonelycrab · 23/04/2025 22:11

Yeah but eastern there is sooo little value with clutching at polls 4 years out!

This appears to be the same event - the slogans on the boarding behind Farage do say; 'Your Council Is Broken. Reform Will Fix It.' Not to mention the JCB.

Yes in spring 2020, 4.5years before the July GE, the Tories were riding high in the 'polls.... 20pts up on Labour...

Anyone making predictions on what may or may not happen at the next election based on a poll now, is a fool.

I’m not ‘clutching’ at anything.

I’ve posted three times now it’s not a prediction. Not by More in Common or by me. It’s posters who keep reading it as such.

Someone was going on about no way 4 MPs could go much higher in a short time. They already have by voting intention in a short time, clearly.

It still could and likely will change before the GE.
