Deal with immigration better.

That’s a one liner

Are you joking this time or serious Confused

How are they proposing to deal with immigration locally?

Just being elected is enough. This will worry Labour into pulling their finger out nationally hopefully.

Not putting them in hotels. Give them tents.

That's what your local candidate is saying? They're going to remove asylum seekers from HO accommodation and put them in tents? Where are they planning to put the tents? The local park?

TopPocketFind · 21/04/2025 00:24

Your local Reform candidate is going to tents to asylum seekers? I would love to see their campaign leaflet.

I doubt the HO would allow that due to safety. I can imagine a load of Reform voters charging the park with pitchforks.

TopPocketFind · 21/04/2025 00:33

They were trying to set fire to hotels last summer, easy to imagine the OP leading a bunch of them with pitchforks.

We only have a county council and no districts.
They also voted to rise council tax to maximum amount. Their leaflet was a waste of paper and went straight in recycling bin.
Most people around me don’t even understand the difference between parish councils and county council. Complaining no election for the parish when only 8 people out the 15 seats bothered to put themselves forward.

You don’t live in Cornwall do you?

Sounds very familiar. 😁

No. They are a party.

I voild havd sworn I read they were but you're right. I've looked them up on Endole and the Lib Dems are a dormant limited company.

It will concern Labour. You can this see already.

BIossomtoes · 21/04/2025 10:12

What can you see?

TopPocketFind · 21/04/2025 10:19

It should concern everyone that people are considering voting Reform, especially if it is for the reasons the OP is expressing.

To stop uncontrolled illegal immigration, dangerous boat crossings and criminal gangs?

To implement the kind of bonkers suggestions you’ve made on this thread.

TopPocketFind · 21/04/2025 10:33

No because you want to remove human rights and legal protections from a certain group

I asked this early in the thread and the OP has come full circle to the solution being ‘put them in tents’.

OP still hasn’t answered just where the tents will be placed or how they will be serviced e.g. water supply. This will be needed as part of the bread and water that OP will feed them. Presumably, OP wants to feed children bread and water too - just like in olden times.

Oioisavaloy27 · 21/04/2025 10:55

I really can't believe that some people are allowed to vote, as someone else has said up the thread Brexit he ran the campaign and what a shit show it's been he's not followed through on anything apart from lining his pockets. British farmers again then wanting to let cholrinated chicken in the country. The NHS he wants us to pay for it. Immigration will still happen. There's more. So tell me of what benefit will Farrage be to this country apart from breeding more hatred?

They have criminal gangs in every country we have had them in the UK for years, you ever heard of the Kray twins?

BurntBroccoli · 21/04/2025 11:23

@TalkToTheHand123
This is from the Commons Library Parliament:

“Small boats

The number of asylum seekers arriving in small boats across the Channel has increased in recent years, from being a route which was almost never used prior to 2018. Between then and December 2024, around 148,000 people arrived in small boats, 95% of whom applied for asylum. These individuals accounted for nearly one third (29%) of the total number of people who applied for asylum in the UK between 2018 and 2024.”

So Reform - i.e. UKIP i.e. Farage’s Brexit have created the issue that you see as the main reason for voting Reform? Don’t you see the irony in that?

Exactly how is Farage proposing to “Stop the Boats”? Returning to the EU? As that is the only way to stop boats arriving in the first place.

As I read in the paper a while ago. “They was lovely boys, salt of the earth and loved their mum.”

Oh, that’s alright then.

Sad isn't it but the point is there's probably criminal gangs in every city and perhaps towns they are everywhere. I don't understand why people don't educate themselves instead of believing everything they read

Asylum was high and peaked in 2002 pre Brexit. It’s just that the entry method has changed. After an event where there was public outcry, lorries were clamped down on.

Traffickers built up a new system after that.

BurntBroccoli · 21/04/2025 11:45

@TalkToTheHand123

What’s your opinion on Ukrainian refugees seeking asylum?

https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/sn01403/

“In 2022, two new routes were introduced for Ukrainians. As of December 2024, around 219,000 people had arrived under these schemes. This flow was much larger in scale than any other single forced migration flow to the UK in recent history. The number of Ukrainian refugees who arrived in the UK in 2022 was equivalent to the number of people granted refuge in the UK from all origins, in total, between 2014 and 2021”

TopPocketFind · 21/04/2025 11:53

Asylum applications indeed peaked in 2002, followed by a sharp decline. 2022 was almost as high as 2002

Even at its peak, it was 0.6% of the UK population.

Worth giving up your human rights for and/or breaking international law.
