Will Reform win any votes at the local elections?

I initially thought the Op was fake they have just proved me right. I did think/hope no one was that stupid.

Oioisavaloy27 · 20/04/2025 10:52

The sad thing is this country really needs change but Reform is not the answer.

TalkToTheHand123 · 20/04/2025 11:03

How far did the Rwanda scheme get to? If the Tories get back in, would it be successful?

Why don't you try doing a little online reading to answer your own question? Now you're just not even trying.

Notaflippinclue · 20/04/2025 11:09

I’m sure cash in hand businesses aren’t paying migrants the minimum wage so that must massively affect locals looking for a job at the minimum wage not really a level playing field - also not a penny in tax or NI paid - so if you are in a hotel with 3 meals a day and £50 quid on top - once their time is up in the hotel off they go to where? Then a fresh quota and so on and so forth. Is this how it works?

Afghanistan.

When you start a thread, it's an idea to attempt to take in what other people tell you.
Afghanistan is run by the Taliban and considered very dangerous. There is the principle of non refoulement which means that you can't send people somewhere they could be in danger.

Only if you believe the right wing tabloids.

People are really struggling with the difference between refugees seeking asylum and migrants

Maybe report those who are willing to pay people hand in cash to avoid paying decent wages and NI, modern slavery is a crime.

They're not struggling. They're deliberately choosing to be ignorant. The information is out there and easy to find - these people just don't want to look because then they would have to accept that they are not decent people.

Oh yes totally agree.

I could have added in improvements in the NHS too, its not reported and if it is, its tacked on the end of a news bulletin or on page 14.

When the MSM had the chance to write about improved GDP figures, the SUN ran a story on their polling that "Britain is Broken" i saw no headline on these figures from the Mail, Express etc etc.

Had the Tories been in charge, the headlines would have been "Brexit Britain Booming" or similar...

Yes totally agree.
MSM, BBC and local rags too.
Every single good news story is whispered and hidden away somewhere.

Yet Farage is given a huge platform on this and especially social media Reels (where you can’t press mute unless you turn the volume down on your phone).

I want to know why Farage, who only became an MP last year, has been on Question Time 38 times. He only has a few MPs but he's given a lot of airtime.

If we are locking people up for free speech why is he not locked up? He never shuts up and is a traitorous shit stirrer.

I know, he's been very quiet about his chums Trump and Putin on the campaign trail. He seems to have his own TV programme and has god knows how many jobs while working his little heart out for his constituency.

Dontcallmescarface · 20/04/2025 12:59

I'm surprised Farage's knees haven't packed up jumping on and off all those bandwagons.

He's currently preaching about chlorinated chicken and beef with hormones. One minute he's marching with the farmers and the next he wants to open the floodgates to cheap meat from the States.

TalkToTheHand123 · 20/04/2025 13:22

To be fair, would anyone on here buy chlorinated chicken? Farage is in favour of it being labelled. No one is forced to buy it.

I thought everyone was up in arms about Farmers not being able to afford to continue. Surely introducing cheap imports, doesn't help British farmers.

TopPocketFind · 20/04/2025 13:35

It is not going to be advertised as chlorinated chicken, it will just be added to products because it is cheap.

Mr Brexit doesn't care about UK farmers.

Mr Brexit was in his new wax jacket and wellingtons protesting with farmers not so long ago. He was very concerned about losing money farmers no longer being able to produce food. Very concerned indeed.

TopPocketFind · 20/04/2025 13:42

Justllike how he was so very concerned about UK fishermen when he was a MEP

EasternStandard · 20/04/2025 13:48

Labour might include it anyway in the trade deal, and scrapping digital tax. If they do will then people say it’s good?

They don’t get both.

A weekly cash allowance, currently £49.18 per person, is provided on a debit card to help with essential needs like food, clothing, and toiletries. This allowance is reduced to £8.86 per week if the accommodation provides meals.

He threw himself into that cause. I believe he turned up to one meeting.
