Stop buying American goods. The only thing Trump understands is money. Take it away

@DoubleDoubleDown its a massive tangled web that many don’t get.

For example, I can buy local and buy from only uk based companies, but I will be paying for it with money earned from a US employer, like many people who are employed overall by US companies. If the US company gets boycotted and they can’t afford to page wages, British people looses jobs our british family loose.

Principles are great, my parents had them, their principles resulted in us all living in a homeless shelter when I was a child and that was just the tip of the iceberg. I will never do that to my children, I will always put my families needs over any principles.

And well it’s not as if boycotting US companies will effect Trump, he dose not care, the man’s a delusional dictator and bully. The only thing that will stop this madness is…. Well I won’t say as I will get my post deleted if I say it.

It will definitely start to affect the businesses and the CEOs, and these powerful entities have influence on Trump and US politics.

Not to mention dissatisfaction from your average US citizen, when they see their economy and jobs going - this will make them rise up harder against the regime.

It's not that pretty but if the alternative is these billionaire businesses getting more and more powerful from our money I'd much rather give up that spending if I can. The reason our high streets are dying are because of big businesses like Amazon. It will only get worse unless we choose to do things differently on an individual level.

We will all win if these corporate entities are taken down a peg or two.

nearlylovemyusername · 06/03/2025 18:44

And well it’s not as if boycotting US companies will effect Trump

This is incorrect. Trump was brought into power by Silicone Valley (predominantly, not exclusively) money, Musk, Bezos, Zuck, Peter Thiel.

Just look at this picture from FT.com. Value of Silicone Valley stocks are equal to all European stocks together. If there is a hit to them, Trump&Co will be removed pronto.

Of course we can't boycott everything, but deleting Facebook account, not watching Netflix or Amazon Prime and buying from other retailers, not buying Tesla is absolutely possible and a small price to pay.

Every little helps, a few of us can't make much difference, but the entire Europe boycotting Tesla? or pausing Amazon/Fbook for 3 months? that would be huge.

We're not supporting Russia, and nowhere in any of those memoranda is the US required to militarily support Ukraine. Nowhere in any agreement with Ukraine have we ever promised unlimited military assistance, boots on the ground or anything else. Everything we have promised has been at the discretion of the State Department and the Department of Defense, both of whom work directly for the president.

The world isn't black and white. Withdrawing support from Ukraine does not equal support of Russia, however much you might want to make the argument. We're bowing out because it is in our interest to do so. We're over-extended, and frankly don't wish to support you anymore. You get into too many wars, and you are sleep-walking into another one, with nukes.

Russia never gave the launch code to Ukraine, so the nukes were useless to them. The codes were kept in Russia and Russian military/KGB assets were placed in Ukraine to launch them if the order was given from Moscow.

That's a bit rich, us Europeans have followed you yanks into every war you've started in the last 20 years.... hundreds of lives lost and thousands injured. I served myself and I can tell you, your wars have cost us.

Had we not followed you into Iraq and Afghanistan what would you have said.

Putin launched a full scale invasion and this was largely down to the US training and arming the biggest army in Europe...well at least that's the excuse for Putin

We now have a Russian leader who could very order his army into Poland, Latvia....

Where does this stop....are you saying you will let Europe fall? I don't believe most Americans share your views

Any chance you’ve been hacked or something.

Oh how funny!

But no, thankfully, I don't think I have been hacked. Having done a bit of poking around, I realise that I must have accidentally clicked on the "add gif" button without realising, and then clicked on the dog. No idea how I then went on to post without noticing it, but somehow I missed it!

I assume that the other poster who encountered an unexpected dog must have done the same!

We don't want allies. We don't need allies.

I find it really odd to talk to people who live in a world where this is the goal. Not friendship, peace, democracy, progress and happiness. No, fuck the rest of you - USA USA USA NUMBER ONE NUMBER ONE.

It's unfathomable to me and I'd lived in 3 countries and travelled in 40 more.

exactly. Doesn’t matter how great America is, if it is out there on it’s own against the rest of the world…

Is it?

most drugs the nhs buys will not be at US prices. I doubt the NHS buys many drugs from Us manufacturers. It would be unaffordable.

Europe has a vast amount of pharma companies, both research and manufacturing.

boots developed ibuprofen remember. They aren’t just a high street store. Ireland is the 5th largest drug manufacture in the world. The us may be the largest single share country but the rest of the world combined is bigger. Plenty of other, cheaper options.

Finland developed Sumatriptan and that’s made my life much better for the last 16 years.

Agree. Sounds good. I don’t think Americans are unwise. They know what’s going on. We will cancel Netflix and not use Amazon. Stop going to McDonalds and Starbucks

Anything we can do to make it harder for trump is good
hes all about money and control
so let’s get on it where we can
from small seeds things grow, stop travelling there stop buying anything from the US and
support the sane Americans who are marching in the streets

Keukenhof · 06/03/2025 21:33

I can’t find the post that says the USA doesn’t want or need allies but good luck to them, because their only allies are Russia and North Korea.

Trump is trying to end a war that has killed one million people. Boycott the fascist! ✊🏾

It's very easy to end a war by surrendering. Nobody needed Trump for that. Unfortunately, it's not the best option for the Ukrainian people and they will insist on standing up for themselves.

Yeah, we're real stupid. Our GDP per capita is $83,000. UK GDP per capita is $49,000. Yup, we're just a bunch of gun totin' idiots...that are much wealthier than you.

The stuff that people are allowed to say on here about Americans would not be tolerated if it referred to any other country in the world. And you wonder why we don't want to pay for your security anymore.

Using "I have more money than you" as an argument against stupidity is in itself quite unintelligent. That's not the measure of idiocy or the general population's lack of general knowledge and common sense. Also, most of that money is concentrated in the hands of the few at the top, who play the not-so-intelligent to part with their money.

I mean, is this actually the White House official page?

I was checking for the context that Trump had confused “transgender” mice with “transgenic” mice.

who writes this?
The Fake News losers at CNN immediately tried to fact check it, but President Trump was right (as usual).

on a .gov page? Someone tell me it’s a spoof.

president trump is not right. He clearly isn’t understanding the science and research. 3 of the 6 studies aren’t transgender specific, and even the 3 that are study effects of hormones and care, which is fucking important considering it’s now so common. And will likely have knock on effect in other areas of hormone research.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/03/yes-biden-spent-millions-on-transgender-animal-experiments/

we’re supposed to conclude the man is not an idiot?

That article sounds like it's from some totalitarian state where diplomacy and reasonableness have gone out the window.

Circularmadness · 07/03/2025 07:37

Russia hates America. Putin must be delighted, NATO on the brink, a weakened and isolated America. Britain out of the EU. Russia has always used propaganda as warfare, social media is the propagandists wet dream. The reality of the Russian invasion is so horrific, the torture, raping of children, unforgivable war crimes. Russia is a true dictatorship where dissenting voices are butchered. How can so many Americans now be convinced that Russia is a worthwhile ally? Propaganda gobbled up via social media, MAGA happily cheering on the fall of free America as it falls into authoritarianism and becomes isolated from its allies. I wonder how Russian and China who hate America will exploit this.

My focus is on putting Ukraine in the best possible and strongest position for any peace negotiations and not using the suffering of Ukraine as a left wing opportunity to bash Trump and the USA.

The reality is that the US have walked off the job with regard to militarily supporting Ukraine. We can whinge about this but it's not going to help Ukraine.

What will help Ukraine is for all European nations to significantly up their military support to Ukraine to take up this slack rather than just speeches of support with little real support- the poor Ukrainian soldier on the front line needs ammunition not speeches.

I see too many posters quick to criticise Trump and the US taxpayers to continue funding this war but very quiet about be willing to contribute their own taxes and their own soldiers to this conflict.

Time is fast running out for Ukraine and Europe needs to step up and quickly.

I’m Canadian and I’m doing my part to buy non American as much as possible, out of 35+ items bought yesterday 2 were from the usa (nuts and dish soap)
They don’t need allies, fine.
Hopefully they don’t need oil and gas, electricity, nickle, and fertilizer for their poisonous food production.
It’s not the us administrations concepts which are wrong it’s the melodramatic approach.

Our contribution combined is a lot more than the US has funded. And let's be straight...Iraq and Afghanistan cost the UK so much that since those wars we have struggled to recover. Before that point the UK was doing very well.

After this no one is going to trust America, we will fund out our satellites etc ...why on earth would we ever rely on your support ever again.

I’m on holiday in the Caribbean at the moment. There are a huge number of Canadians and Brits here, and several that I’ve spoken to have cancelled or rearranged USA holidays and come here instead.

A bit of digging suggests it will make a difference….and locals are also finding that Florida “snowbirds” are looking at property to buy as they sell up in the US.

https://globalnews.ca/news/11069567/us-travel-down-trump-tariff/

Trump seems to think he can delay or reverse the tariffs when he is ready and all will go back to normal - but no one here cares about the tariffs. It’s the attitude.

Canadian leisure travel to U.S. down 40% in February, Flight Centre says | Globalnews.ca

A combination of anger over U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff and annexation threats and a weak Canadian dollar have Canadian tourists avoiding the U.S.
