Stop buying American goods. The only thing Trump understands is money. Take it away

A military position against Russia? Our young men are disinclined to fight for the UK. I doubt we’re going to have many volunteers to entertain the meat grinder that is a Russian war on behalf of Ukraine.

Funny, that’s the second time I’ve seen this ‘meat grinder’ phrase used in as many days – both times on mumsnet – having never heard this turn of phrase used before in my life.

That post was also claiming that Russia wants peace, etc.

Trump is trying to end a war that has killed one million people. Boycott the fascist! ✊🏾

When a man kills his wife the DV has stopped.

It’s a term that Musk has repeatedly used with regards to the Ukraine war. Indoctrination and propaganda works sadly

Just be aware that Amazon is a platform for many small British businesses, most McDonald's are own by British franchises, ditto the hotel brands etc.

Realise that you are hurting local people often so do ensure you choose a replacement that equally benefits the U.K. (don't use the Chinese companies!)

Aha that joins the dots then. One way or another was confident they were coming from a common source!

Source for your 'one million claim'?

President Trump has said that one million Russian soldiers and 700,000 Ukrainian troops have been killed (The Times)

According to President Volodymyr Zelensky on Feb. 16., over 46,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed on the battlefield since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.
Speaking in an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan published on Feb. 4, Zelensky said that there have also been a total of 390,000 cases of injuries on the battlefield (Kyiv Independent)

Ukraine has lost 45,100 soldiers on the battlefield since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with U.K. journalist Piers Morgan published Feb. 4.

What are you going to try and infer - that I’m a bot?

It’s a common way to discuss the Russian fighting style, as used by plenty of commentators including Peter Zeihan.

It’s a common term for the way Russian wages war. But no, it must be an evil
conspiracy because Musk used it too…

Trump could say your auntie was your uncle, doesn't mean it's true.

Thanks for providing actual figures.

Trump and figures so likely to be wildly incorrect

LadyNairne · 06/03/2025 17:05

Just buy local. Doing that contributes to local communities which have been eroded and degraded partially by the dominance of American companies and American tech in particular.

These are companies with one goal only: money and power, for the rich Americans who own and enable them (including politicians). These US companies do not invest back into communities, societies (or even democracy) anywhere. They just take and monopolise.

Buy local whenever possible.

Start to counter this American global dominance of supply chains and products across every sector. It’s not healthy.

Whycanineverthinkofone · 06/03/2025 17:06

I mean, is this actually the White House official page?

I was checking for the context that Trump had confused “transgender” mice with “transgenic” mice.

who writes this?
The Fake News losers at CNN immediately tried to fact check it, but President Trump was right (as usual).

on a .gov page? Someone tell me it’s a spoof.

president trump is not right. He clearly isn’t understanding the science and research. 3 of the 6 studies aren’t transgender specific, and even the 3 that are study effects of hormones and care, which is fucking important considering it’s now so common. And will likely have knock on effect in other areas of hormone research.

we’re supposed to conclude the man is not an idiot?

Yes, Biden Spent Millions on Transgender Animal Experiments

Last night, President Donald J. Trump highlighted many of the egregious examples of waste, fraud, and abuse funded by American taxpayers, including $8

Reddit is US owned.
It's all a bit meta (also US owned 😁)

I know but it is major source of good updates and info and has a wide range of subreddits both left and right leaning and as far as I know are not (as a company) aligned directly with furthering the Trump agenda in the same way that facebook / meta is, via Zuckerberg for example, or X via Musk.

Like I say you can't boycott everything - it's about making changes where you practically can.

I think an effective boycott is probably not to visit - the tourist economy will feel the effects. Not that I have any desire to visit anyway.

BillyILash · 06/03/2025 18:24

@DoubleDoubleDown its a massive tangled web that many don’t get.

For example, I can buy local and buy from only uk based companies, but I will be paying for it with money earned from a US employer, like many people who are employed overall by US companies. If the US company gets boycotted and they can’t afford to page wages, British people looses jobs our british family loose.

Principles are great, my parents had them, their principles resulted in us all living in a homeless shelter when I was a child and that was just the tip of the iceberg. I will never do that to my children, I will always put my families needs over any principles.

And well it’s not as if boycotting US companies will effect Trump, he dose not care, the man’s a delusional dictator and bully. The only thing that will stop this madness is…. Well I won’t say as I will get my post deleted if I say it.

Are you russian? or just ... challenged?

Trump is trying to serve Ukraine to putin on a plate, with no military or any security, so the country can be erased from the map.
