Sucks to be holding land next to Russia right now. Whatever “minerals” are in the deal Trump wants, makes me wonder if they benefit certain companies aligned with Trump.

But the arms were part of an original agreement signed as part of a deal so that Ukraine and others give up nuclear weapons

People are forgetting that Zelenskyy is talking for his people, the people fighting now, the people who have died, the people dying so I'm not sure how he could have kissed Trumps ring.

This is a very difficult and dangerous situation. Although principles are essential diplomacy is equally essential.

You can watch the Kyiv European summit from a few days ago where he responds to everyone speaking, all the leaders of Europe and Trudeau speak individually. He responds to them by recapping their specific support and what they've done for Ukraine and thanking them profusely. He remembers what each individual country has done and given as far back as four years ago. It's lovely to see the unity, worth a watch.

Also I don't think it's anything about being thankful, they are desperate to find holes to pick at in him and that is really the worst they can come up with which says a lot about their characters vs his.

how come you’re not a fan? I might be blinded by my weird crush on him but he seems to have been consistent, measured in the whole thing and has seemed like a real leader. I get the real sense he would be very prepared to physically get in the trenches if he had to. Not to mention I’d have slapped trump within about two minutes today if I were him. But I could’ve missed something.

Well that's the conundrum because the fact they are fighting keeps Putin back & makes it safer for the rest of Europe.

I think the exact opposite. Zelenskyy knows exactly what final outcome he's going to get from Trump, and that it's going to be disastrous, no matter how much he sucks up.

Quite apart from the political detail of this situation how the hell was this allowed to happen. Are Trump and Vance so ignorant or care so little or so unprofessional that they have no idea of decent respectful behaviour or even what social norms are? With their thinly veiled narcissim they disprespected the Oval office, the office of Potus and VP with their awful behaviour (I am not really into hierachy or status, but if you are leading a country a tiny performance of dignity - I can't quite find the word, maybe - not being a shithead? - seems a prerequisite).

That argument should have gone on behind closed doors if it had to happen at all. The performance in front of the press is ceremonial at best - handshakes and nodding to promote stability and confidence in the leadership and the country.

Their awful goading and needling and bullying was unacceptable in any adult interaction and heartbreaking when there is so much at stake, to a countyr that has been invaded by hostile forces with a psychotic leader.

Whether Zelensky is right or wrong is immaterial here though, they are all leaders of state, yet Trump has no clue what statemanship, restraint or even simple politeness actually is. Presenting this to his citizens and the world as acceptable behaviour is so dangerous.
