Ex-Soviet spy makes sensational KGB claim about Trump

Zero surprise whatsoever.

What a sad and shameful reflection on American voters. The ignorance is mind-boggling.

FFSJulie · 22/02/2025 01:57

Nothing would surprise me anymore about global politics and celebs. I don’t think there has ever been a time of noble people wanting to serve their country’s best interests.

I would quite like to become a hermit. With Internet. Actually; that probably is my life already!

Sorchamarie · 22/02/2025 01:59

Not in the slightest bit surprised. In fact, I think Putin (and his awful oligarchs) totally own Trump. I read that he was bailed out by Russian oligarch money many years ago (perhaps in the 80's?) after one of the many times he lost all his money by being such a horrific businessman (conman more like it). Nothing else explains why he's so pro Russian (except that he is very partial to awful dictators like the Hungarian guy and the super weird man in North Korea).

FictionalCharacter · 22/02/2025 03:25

The only thing that surprises me is that people seem to have forgotten that this was known the first time round, right at the beginning of his first presidency.

There's so much shit flying around it's easy to forget some of it!!

Always suspected so

MarsScarlet · 22/02/2025 05:46

No - this has been rumoured for some years. I have thought that he's too boastful and careless with his speech while not possessing the right kind of wit for such a role. Perhaps the Russians see a use for someone with no ethics and little intelligence to hold him back.

username299 · 22/02/2025 06:27

He doesn't have the discretion or intelligence. I believe Putin is responsible for putting him in power and Trump has handed over Ukraine and promised to get the sanctions lifted. Putin and his orange poodle have destabilised the West. It's quite the coup.

Summerhillsquare · 22/02/2025 06:52

It was obvious last time around. Pure grift, Putin uses national resources to bribe people and interfere in elections. His interference in Brexit is well documented.

eurochick · 22/02/2025 07:15

Spy? No
Useful idiot for the Russians? Definitely.

Written by the person unable to use capital letters and punctuation. There is some serious projection going on there. Dunning Kruger at its finest.

This conspiracy theory has been around years

Bigly.

Personally i believe Putin has some serious shit on Trump. He may be an unwitting Russian agent (because he is doing Russia's bidding) but I think at the end of the day it's blackmail. Given how little Trump cares about all the scandals that we know about- it must be pretty big.

The ignorance on this thread isn’t mind-boggling at all, it’s entirely predictable.

It’s 2025 now, the old lies and insults aren’t going to work, time to do some critical thinking of your own and not rely on legacy media.

Wasn't it because he was going bankrupt way before he got into politics and Putin bailed him out? No such thing as a free lunch...

Cattreesea · 22/02/2025 09:30

No surprise.

I always thought Putin must have some way to control/blackmail him (rather than Trump willingly deciding to become a Russian 'asset' for ideological
reasons)

Maybe he received dirty money from them for deals or they have some compromising footage about him.

I have no doubt Russia interfered in the elections in his favour, like they did with the Brexit campaign.

aModernClassic · 22/02/2025 09:46

Well, our Prime Minister and a lot of other European leaders are taking orders from WEF, so it makes sense that Trump is from Russia.

Scammersarescum · 22/02/2025 13:41

Not even vaguely surprised. This have been mooted before by another former spy Yuri Shvets.

It certainly makes sense given Trump's actions. Especially his push to help Russia install a pro Putin puppet in Ukraine and his attempts to weaken Europe.

I've always wondered if the first dossier was a Russian plant designed to be discredited and seemingly exonerate him of being a russian agent prior to his first presidency.

It also makes Putin's interference in US elections seem even more targeted when you view it as not purely disruptive but actually installing a Russian asset as president.

On balance it seems likely to be true. Surprised there's not more about it on Mumsnet

MrsSkylerWhite · 22/02/2025 13:43

He’s been tied to Russian finance for years. Nothing would surprise me about the oaf.

LaurieFairyCake · 22/02/2025 14:04

I'm no fan of Russia but even I think Trump is too stupid to work as an agent

MsAmerica · 22/02/2025 23:48

The only thing that surprises me it that others would be surprised.
Although Trump claims he was exonerated in the Russia investigation, that's totally false. There are so many suspicious things, even before this kowtowing to Putin, that clearly something funny is going on.
