No questions the Tories were bad, but Labour are on another level.

Are you still happy you voted them in? Be honest now, you are having your doubts aren’t you?

If not, you really should be.

I am no defender of the tories, and believe me,
had they done what Labour have, I would have been very vocal.

Once again, did you live under a rock for the last 14 years?

iwishihadknownmore · 12/09/2024 13:41

EverythingAllatOnceAllTheTime · 12/09/2024 13:36

Yeah that would be it….

I'm afraid that if you cannot back up your claims of all these tax increases/changes, then its just hearsay & gossip.

No one other than Tory supporters have mentioned bus passes being removed & who took away free TV licences from the elderly mmmmm remind me again.... doubtless you were very vocal, cheering to the rafters in support!

Tell me you re a Tory, whilst pleading you re not a Tory..... lol.

Its very transparent what is going on here.

Araminta1003 · 12/09/2024 13:43

Parts of South East London, for example, Kings Hospital Trusts have had a hack into their blood test systems months and months ago (Synovis was hacked in very early June). You still cannot get a more routine blood test unless eg your cancer markers are through the roof! Now how the heck is that acceptable in a modern Western economy? We have the fewest acute hospital beds internationally for similar countries as well! I have 2 friends who are nurses/midwife who cannot get any care for what may just be B12 or anaemia but they cannot get a blood test and have been waiting since May.

Settle down.

Refer to Starmers rose-garden speech.
Refer to the constant need for denials from Labour.
Refer to their wage settlements with the unions.

At least be pragmatic, if you cannot be serious.

I think it will be very interesting to revisit this thread when the budget is announced. Let's see how many of @EverythingAllatOnceAllTheTime 's predictions come true.

Nope, zero mention of the removal of bus passes, no minister of any colour talks about budget plans pre budget and there has been no leaks... so far, just gossip.

Do you mean the Pay Review body recommendations for teachers, nurses and armed services? a process that most Govts do pay out on and commissioned by the last Tory Govt.

Or do you mean the Rail Drivers settlement, which works out at 2.8% per year over 5 years?

Maybe wait and see what is in the budget in 6 weeks time?

You don’t need to wait that long.

Just watch cable instead.

@EverythingAllatOnceAllTheTime - but you never produce anything to support your assertions...apart from that article in the Mail about the 20% VAT charge on independent schools (a thread you started very similar to this one).

EasternStandard · 12/09/2024 16:05

I think it will come down to economic growth or not

Whether the tax regime will bring it about we'll see

If they can't get a handle on that then tax rises and spending cuts will be pretty bad

Just watch cable instead

A completely normal thing for a definitely genuine British person to write. 🙄

Zonder · 12/09/2024 17:09

Goodness, Tory HQ are really investing a lot of time into trying to convince people labour are anywhere near as bad as them 🤣

I’m disappointed but not entirely surprised that the first people they targeted were the pensioners. Early release of violent prisoners I was not expecting. Comparing this to the early days of the Blair government there’s not much positivity. It’s like it’s not the same party. I didn’t vote for them this election but previously was a lifelong Labour voter. I couldn’t vote for them as they are now.

How were you not expecting early release of prisoners.

For MONTHS prior the election the Torys were being warned about lack of spaces and they'd started devising a policy on early release.

It was the one thing we all knew!

I'm not the biggest fan of the cut off for WFA.
Was impressed with their response to the riots.

But they've done nothing else to judge them on yet and I'm not going to blame Labour for the Telegraphs daily headlines!

"Watch cable" is how Americans refer to consuming television, in particular networks other than the traditional free-to-air broadcasters.

It is a phrase that is never, ever used in the UK.

I don’t think we’ve had cable in the UK since about 1998.

I thought maybe Vince Cable was back. I wonder if he's lost his WFA.

Hoppinggreen · 12/09/2024 18:21

"watch cable?"
Oh dear Komrade, you might have slipped up there

PandoraSox · 12/09/2024 18:30

If you get off mn pro Labour threads and read other comments you'd see no effort is required at all.

Starmer is creating backlash on his own.

Even the crying laughing can't help him there

Solymoly · 12/09/2024 18:40

Cable tv is Virgin as opposed to satellite tv which is Sky, doesn't everyone know that or are you all very young, it was quite common to call it that a few years ago

SlothOnARope · 12/09/2024 18:42

EverythingAllatOnceAllTheTime · 12/09/2024 13:37

One wonders where the 1,700 prisoners will live?

Easy, Buckingham Palace. 775 massive rooms. Continue Britain's historic tradition of using castles as prisons.

EasternStandard · 12/09/2024 18:46

PandoraSox · 12/09/2024 18:30

Oh OP, you are busted!

Do you really think everyone who doesn't think of Starmer / Labour as you do is 'busted'?

You and others must be limiting your reading hugely to just these threads if the odd mn criticism causes that reaction

There's a whole barrage of criticism out there for them

Araminta1003 · 12/09/2024 18:47

I think the Tory voters will have the last laugh given the way Starmer is going currently. Surely most of them are happy at how right wing he is?
