No questions the Tories were bad, but Labour are on another level.

Are you still happy you voted them in? Be honest now, you are having your doubts aren’t you?

If not, you really should be.

they have changed no taxes

This is incorrect. 20% VAT is happening. Labour will have the highest tax burden since WW2

And that's before whatever they announce in the budget.

Oops, sorry, I did forget about the VAT on school fees.

Sue Gray’s £170,000 pay prompts fury among Labour advisers
Guardian.

Sorry, wrong thread.

Efacsen · 19/09/2024 13:34

@DejaTu Don't you get an FT subscription with your job? And the Times too?

The people I know doing your sort of job always do - or expense it if it's their own business

I didn’t delete anything.

If you are going to rely on a source, at least have the subscription.

I do have them but I’m not doing your job.

Any chance you can make a point instead of perpetual links?

DejaTu · 19/09/2024 13:39

Right this thread is about to meet it’s natural end.

Can someone please start a new one on Labour?

Lovely.

Or there is ‘Labour is betraying women’

Shall we decamp to that?

That is my point. There are plenty of high earning public servants earning more than the PM, but for some reason Gray is being singled out.

You possibly haven't been on MN long, so perhaps you don't know that it is considered good manners to provide evidence for assertions.

Sorry you're correct MNHQ deleted your post - it was a bit confusing as it was deleted whilst I was typing

So you're now saying you do have a subscription

Okay

Wonder why @DejaTu posts keep being deleted - maybe as a ?newcomer they should read the T&C about civility

Notonthestairs · 19/09/2024 13:46

I don't think they are new at all.

PandoraSox · 19/09/2024 13:47

@DejaTu here is a non paywalled assessment from the IFS which confirms Blossomtoes' point.

Yes, do tell?

iwishihadknownmore · 19/09/2024 15:35

The highest tax burden under Labour rubbish is due to Taxes Sunak put in place, which Reeves has/wont not reversed.

Such as extended TH freezes to 2028, student loan TH lowering and repayment extensions.

All more than offsets NI cuts.

Callaghan 76 to 79? ha ha ha you' d need to be past retirement age to have been in work then even at the end of his tenure.

More BS.
