Any of you voting Reform?
My area was always labour..( I've never voted labour).. but according to what I'm reading.. it's surprisingly gone the other way.
Will have to wait and see.
Did him being in I'm a Celebrity make him more popular..or is the extreme right the way to go?

@Noddedoffagain Heres the thing: I don't believe Labour will make any meaningful changes to any of the big issues. If they do, great! But I just don't think they will. I won't be voting Reform because I think they're wonderful or will solve all our problems. I'm voting for them because they're the least offensive option, for me personally.

Can I just say I appreciate the polite exchange I've had with a few of the posters here - this is what a grown up discussion should be like.

They have no serious policies and their candidates are extremely low calibre. Genuinely what do you think they can bring to the nation?

Don’t you find it offensive that Farage rates Andrew Tate?

Parker231 · 21/06/2024 18:42

I don’t know anyone voting Reform but I don’t know any racists or anti women

LifeGivesYouOranges · 21/06/2024 18:48

@Noddedoffagain In a nutshell, more of their ideas appeal to me than any of the other parties. At the end of last week it was Tory, or a spoiled vote, which I am loath to do. So Reform it is.

I haven't read anything about Andrew Tate yet so will have a look.

Me and DH have just been talking about last nights Question Time and we got onto the subject of Reform. He said that he has chatted with a lot of people at his workplace and a hell of a lot of them are going to be voting for them.

He talks to anyone and everyone 😀so I believe him on the 'hell of a lot of people' part.

His workplace attracts many industries and people who work there commute from all over the UK and are from all ethnicities and educational backgrounds. So pretty a pretty broad representation of the UK working population.

MintTwirl · 21/06/2024 18:54

Many of the people I know who are saying they will vote reform are the type of people who talk the talk but on polling day they don’t actually bother to go and vote so it will be interesting to see what the turnout is.
A lot in my area are saying they will vote reform. I think that labour have made a mistake with the candidate here, there was a local candidate with experience, relationships in the community and a good track record of actually achieving things but they weren’t selected. Instead they selected someone not from the area and nobody had heard of them before now.

taxguru · 21/06/2024 19:01

Really surprised to speak to my son (22 year old graduate) a few days ago, to find he was planning to vote Reform. Throughout Uni he was very "left" leaning, but seems to have done an about turn now that he's been in the World of work for nearly a year, working alongside lots of other young "trendies" in a modern, highly educated workplace.

Even us, as close to 60 year olds who are floating voters wouldn't go as far to vote Reform. We're voting Libdems as we want neither of the different cheeks of the same arse to be in power for too long. After the inevitable collapse of the Tory party in two weeks time with 4/5 years of Labour in power, I think the LibDems could be well placed to make a pretty good go to become the opposition party (or even win a majority) in the next GE in 2028/9. So we're basically voting in 2024 with a hope that LibDems can be a more major force for the following GE.

People thought the same about Brexit - i.e. didn't expect quite so many to actually go out and vote for Brexit!! I do fear Reform could do a lot better than people think as lots of people are really fed up of the Tory/Labour see-saw and want something different.

Here you go. It has been widely reported.

And his Panorama interview where he blames the West for provoking Putin into invading Ukraine. Easily found on the BBC News website.

I'm voting reform.

They're the only people I trust to stop the thousands of dangerous illegal men coming into our country and attacking women and girls.

I was just reading Rupert Lowe’s post on FB, on this exact subject, he has massive support.

Never in a million years would I vote for Farage. He probably admires Hitler. He certainly admires Trump.

I believe he admires Enoch Powell.

I am likely not voting for Reform, although I can’t find any genuine enthusiasm for any of the parties but…

The West DID provoke Russia. Nothing is ever purely black and white and believing it is is naive and simplistic. Russia was wrong in invading Ukraine imo, but I think most in depth analysis would point to Russia being backed into a corner somewhat and if you poke a Bear enough he’ll bite. Ukraine has borne the brunt of the West’s hubris very sadly, and I think we should fully back them now though!

No they didn't. Russia are paranoid. If they were not so aggressive with their neighbours (e.g. "annexing" Crimea) their neighbours wouldn't want to join Nato.

OK, ok, forgive me. Geopolitics is actually 😉entirely simplistic and should be accurately covered by twitter/x sound bites. Go you.

CassieMaddox · 21/06/2024 19:48

I'm just not a fan of apologism for Russia. In no way were they justified in invading Ukraine.

User135644 · 21/06/2024 19:51

If you want Luz truss economics and a Putin sympathiser vote Reform.

Farage is a very effective dissident but he has no practical answers to problems. He's the right wing Corbyn.

Churchview · 21/06/2024 19:55

Farage tonight on BBC says he’s had “an awful lot of candidates being stitched up in the most extraordinary way with quotes being taken out of context”.

He's just like his squirming, hard done by friend Trump isn't he.

Here's what some of theReform candidates said - one called immigrants “a plague”, another who said Muslims should be removed from the UK, and a third that claimed Africans “have a low IQ”

User135644 · 21/06/2024 19:55

Moier · 20/06/2024 19:23

No ..plenty of young people.
It's a city not a town.

The danger is young people want change and Starmer isn't offering a lot (he is being practical and realistic which is needed though).

Farage/Reform would just be more of the same but with more Braverman type rhetoric on immigration. Easy to make all kinds of promises when you won't have to deliver them.

That won't put Reform voters off.

In some cases it might even encourage them I suppose.

It may very well do I'm afraid.
