Is Angela Raynor a liar or is it all anti Labour media bias?

1000 replies

CormorantStrikesBack · 10/03/2024 12:33

I’m well aware how anti Labour a lot of the main stream media seem to be so I wasn’t paying much attention previously to all the stuff about how she should have paid capital gains tax on her house, etc. she was adamant that she didn’t need to.

So it seems like she said it was her main residence so not liable for capital gains tax. But her husband and kids lived in a house a short distance away apparently for the first five years of their marriage which is unusual. A neighbour who lived next to her “husband’s” house said it was the main family home and Angela definitely lived there.

I’ll be sad if she has lied. Always thought she was on the side of the ordinary person. I guess the police/tax man might have a hard time proving anything though regardless of the neighbour’s statement. If all bills, etc were in the individual names there’s no evidence.

@WhatsTheUseOfWorrying this is getting desperate

... as in the hounding of AR, which is similar in many respects to how the press have gone after other women, sometimes with tragic results.

Nowhere is the aide or the tories called desperate but you know this, you don't lack intelligence.

Its almost like the Witch trials of old and the use of Ducking Stools.

I'm still waiting for the DM and the Express to get outraged about the JCB brothers with their £500 million tax case. But then again, this is a party that takes £15m from an out and out racist so that'll be a long wait.

If you can't see the differences, you've basically got your eyes shut and your hands clamped over your ears going 'lalala I'm not listening.'.

If papers like the 'Express and 'Mail cannot tell the truth about Truss and her disastrous budget which cost the country, mortgage holders and pension funds billions then they wont say much about JCB and a mere £500m in unpaid tax.

This whole thing is a Tory 'scum' ( to quote St. Angela) conspiracy.

What woman lives with her husband and kids - give us a break Daily Mail.

So there are loads of neighbours rubbishing her claims - Tory plants or just genuinely mistaken? One or the other surely!

An ex-aide rubbishing her claims. What is their real agenda?

GMP saying nothing to see here quite right. Until some other Tory low life presented them with 'evidence'. How dare they.

For sure the GMP will find Angela has done nothing wrong. Otherwise why else would she have promised to resign if they did?

And this hypocrisy nonsense? Of course she can demand Boris resign when subject to a police investigation. Doesn't mean she has to.

Same with demanding Tories publish their tax returns.

Clearly from this thread the vast majority see Angela Rayner for what she is. A beacon of integrity in a corrupt Westminster cess pit.

Role on the next Labour government when Corbynistas can kick out Starmer and anoint Angela as PM.

She can shut down the Tory press.

Then we'll all be so much better off.

"Role on the next Labour government when Corbynistas can kick out Starmer and anoint Angela as PM.

Hmmm getting rid of an elected politician and curbing press freedoms....

And this is exactly why democracy is at risk in the UK from the hard left.

Hurrydash · 14/04/2024 20:08

Oh almost forgot the most damning evidence - her own social media posts referring to her 'home'.

Surely hacked by some geek??

DuncinToffee · 14/04/2024 20:13

Is that why you want every woman to vote Tory Hurrydash, because Angela Rayner showed some of her cushions on SM?

pointythings · 14/04/2024 20:15

Since when do governments shut down any section of the press? 14 years of the Tories and the Guardian is still here. Before that, 13 years of Labour, and the Mail and the Express still here. Honestly, the hysteria is palpable.

And if you're so worries about parties replacing their leader in an unaccountable way, it isn't Labour you should be looking at.

Yeah, the shutting down the Tory press thing was especially eye-catching.

¡NO PASARÁN!

@CurlewKate righto. Shagging someone else, whilst you are married is fine is it? As long as you don’t give them a job? Personally, I have higher standards.
I would rather anyone who represents me can show an ounce of integrity, decency or loyalty. I fully admit you won’t find that in ANY party. But, I’m also neither deaf nor blind. I WATCHED her mock and ridicule Hancock in parliament for his affair. Not about the job he may or may not have given her (I don’t know or care, either way) but for his lack of moral decency. How bloody ironic, how very hypocritical, and how lacking in self awareness, She’s a gobshite and she blew it. Starmer has very rightly sidelined her in recent months and he needs to keep doing that if he wants to win.

Is that an attempt at satire @Hurrydash? You were urging all the women in England to vote Tory in your last couple of threads.Confused

Hurrydash · 14/04/2024 20:43

No. I changed my mind.

Hurrydash · 14/04/2024 20:45

But if it had been an 'attempt' at satire it probably wasn't too bad. IMO of course😀

TooBigForMyBoots · 14/04/2024 20:51

What powers do you think the government have to shut down any press @Hurrydash? Do you live in the UK?

A UK government with a majority can pass whatever laws they like.

Do you live in the real world?

Hurrydash · 14/04/2024 20:53

Do you live in the real world?

And what evidence do you have to suggest that Labour intends to shut down the Mail et al? I mean, Boris didn't shut down the Guardian with his majority of 80, and Blair didn't shut down sections of the press either.

So you're either scaremongering or peddling bullshit.

Hurrydash · 14/04/2024 21:05

Well I never said there was evidence the hard left would shut down the press.

So who's actually peddling bullshit?

I do live in the UK in the real world @Hurrydash. Do you? (not a rhetorical question)

newnamethanks · 14/04/2024 21:16

Is that ignorance or just malice I wonder? Either way, it does you little credit hurrydash. Do try to stay rooted in reality.

Hurrydash · 14/04/2024 21:05

Well I never said there was evidence the hard left would shut down the press.

So who's actually peddling bullshit?

You insinuated it most unsubtly by saying that in a Labour government, Angela Rayner would have the power to shut down the right wing press. And so she might, just as Boris' government with its massive majority could have shut down the left wing press. But you and I both know that it won't happen, because it would make the UK an instant international pariah, with all the impacts on the economy and our political alliances.

So why did you mention it in the first place, if you weren't scaremongering?

IClaudine · 14/04/2024 21:45

I think Hurrydash might be drunk posting again!

My DD lives in Australia, she refers to Home as here in Cornwall, does that mean she doesn't live in Australia?

I've friends with a holiday home, they refer to that as home as well as their more permanent residence.

But if GMP find she has broken the law, she will step down, can't be fairer than that.

Hancock? i understood he went, not for the affair itself but for breaking LD rules, which he was telling us all to obey each and every night, he also allowed himself to be filmed, he became a laughing stock.

It is not anti Labour bias. It is calling out AR on her actions. Just the same as the media called out Boris Johnson on his actions.

MN had long running threads with about 8 regular people filling up 40-odd pages of anti Boris, anti Tory comments before moving on to fill up another.

The comments even spilled onto other threads with one regular ex-MNer (since banned or institutionalised) who used to harangue posters and follow them over asking about BJ and cake.

When the heat falls on a Labour politician, you have to expect some questions.

CurlewKate · 15/04/2024 07:58

@Idontknowwhattodo78 " righto. Shagging someone else, whilst you are married is fine is it? As long as you don’t give them a job? "

No, I don't think it's fine-although there would be a big clear out of politicians if marital fidelity was a requirement. But you specifically accused Rayner of hypocrisy for criticising Hancock for having an affair when she was also having one. She did not criticise him for the affair. She criticised him for giving his lover a publicly funded role in the DHSC.
