Is Angela Raynor a liar or is it all anti Labour media bias?

1000 replies

CormorantStrikesBack · 10/03/2024 12:33

I’m well aware how anti Labour a lot of the main stream media seem to be so I wasn’t paying much attention previously to all the stuff about how she should have paid capital gains tax on her house, etc. she was adamant that she didn’t need to.

So it seems like she said it was her main residence so not liable for capital gains tax. But her husband and kids lived in a house a short distance away apparently for the first five years of their marriage which is unusual. A neighbour who lived next to her “husband’s” house said it was the main family home and Angela definitely lived there.

I’ll be sad if she has lied. Always thought she was on the side of the ordinary person. I guess the police/tax man might have a hard time proving anything though regardless of the neighbour’s statement. If all bills, etc were in the individual names there’s no evidence.

If you think all parties are the same you are really not paying attention.
Look out of your window - did the world look as it does before the Tories got in? What has changed for you in the 14 years since they came to power? How are things different at your GP surgery, hospital, children's school? Are the roads in the same condition? Is the sea and are our rivers clean or full of sewage? How often do you see a police officer in the street?

No, they're not all the same.

pointythings · 13/03/2024 20:03

Well, the police have investigated and concluded no crime was committed, so maybe we can now start ignoring the right wing press and the Tory cheerleaders and get on with discussing politics rather than personalities.

@Minkyfalinkinky "
She is embarrassing and her conduct on twitter is awful."

Examples, please?

George's candidate would have to take over 40% of Rayner's predicted vote to be in with a chance of unseating her. Even then it is likely all that would do is enable the Tories to win the seat. The people of Ashton under Lyne won't want to risk that, I reckon.

Just highlighting this which has already been posted.

Particularly the line that the police found no evidence against her of wrongdoing.

"Police have found no evidence that any offence had been committed."

Angela Rayner

Angela Rayner will not face police inquiry over document claim

The deputy Labour leader had faced claims she gave false information on official documents.

The closer Labour get to power, and effecting deep and honest change to this country, the more mud the rightwing press will throw at Labour. HMRC aren't interested in Angela Rayner's tax affairs, it's just the Daily Mail. The Conservatives have literally accepted money from a man who said he'd like to shoot Diane Abbot and hates black women....

ForPeachWriter · 29/03/2024 04:18

Angela Rayner uses her working class roots and tragic sob story to connect with the working class yet she is as fake as they come and would throw her own Grandmother under the bus for power and status. She has zero qualifications and has grifted her way to the top with her working class rhetoric of solidarity. She is the pot calling the kettle black and as her neighbour said a "f*ING liar". Exploiting working class people with her vain "look at me, I am so hard done to like you" bs is just despicable. She is worse than any Tory because she is the great pretender, they don't fake it to make it rich and powerful.

lifeonapersiancarpet · 29/03/2024 07:07

Totally fabricated non issue, invented by a desperate tory government supporter. All the while the actualtoriesarea bunch of criminals.

lifeonapersiancarpet · 29/03/2024 07:08

actualtoriesarea
Should read actual Tories.

calligraphee · 29/03/2024 07:15

I think this is the issue with all the complex tax loopholes, and RTB itself is complex too.

If there's no crime, and she took tax advice, which she says she did, that should be the end of it.

But it's a bad look, IMO.

So it is both desperate Tory mudslinging and a real issue.

If you want to be a politician, it is best to stay in line with the spirit of the rules, rather than the letter of the rules.

Rishi Sunaks father in laws company has just received a 3 billion NHS contract

Rachel Reeves got her parliamentary credit card removed because of so many dodgy expenses and they want to make her chancellor 😂

theyre all shit

CurlewKate · 29/03/2024 07:20

@ForPeachWriter I do think that comment needs a little justification. Fake? Grifted? Fucking liar? Great pretender? Maybe you could say a bit more?

CurlewKate · 29/03/2024 07:28

@beAsensible1 "Rachel Reeves got her parliamentary credit card removed because of so many dodgy expenses and they want to make her chancellor "

Her card was temporarily suspended along with 16 others because of an absence of proper receipts. It was quickly restored.

CurlewKate · 12/03/2024 09:41

Just goes to show what a dirty vile campaign this next election is going to be.

No doubt it will be. But are you saying that that’s because the Tories will make it vile and dirty?

As far as I can see Labour has been lying its head off about Tory corruption in Covid procurement for years (not a single challenge to the lawfulness of contracts has succeeded in court) and about Tory insistence on the extended ULEZ zone in London.

If the Tories fight dirty - which they will - it will be addressing the balance.

Voting Labour or Tory is a choice between different political impulses. It’s not a moral choice.

CurlewKate · 29/03/2024 08:02

@WhatsTheUseOfWorrying Are you suggesting that the government's procurement processes during Covid were exemplary? That there are no issues with, for example, Michelle Mone?

WhatsTheUseOfWorrying · 29/03/2024 08:08

Exemplary? Probably not. But then what procurement ever is - if you mean exemplary as in the most efficient and cost effective it can ever be.

If you mean exemplary as in completely lawful, yes. And there are numerous High Court and Court of Appeal judgments to back me up on that.

Such fraud as has been suspected is on the government, not by the government. Sadly, fraud on public funds happens all the time. Under all governments.

CormorantStrikesBack · 29/03/2024 08:09

There was all the dodgy BP contracts with Sunak as well wasn’t there? His family firm gets given a contract worth millions by BP and then a very short time afterwards Sunak announces the granting of licenses for more drilling in the North Sea. Very much gives a vibe of “if you do what we want we will give you a load of money”. But I’m sure legally it’s all allowed. Stinks though.
