Genuine question for Tory voters

Really not asking this in a goady way- I just want to know if anyone has changed their mind over the last few days of TM refusing to do any interviews/debates. I don't think Rudd did anything positive for the Conservative party with her appearance on the debate the other night and what I have seen of TM, she seems like she might actually be having a bit of a breakdown?

I am really dithering ATM. I dont know who to vote for at all, normally Conservative but its really hard this time!

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 02/06/2017 13:10

According to my Tory voting parents, they've voted for TM because she HASN'T gone to the tv debates Hmm

They seem to think she didn't want to go and join in with all the live bitching as she has more important things to attend to and the parties who are doing live debates are infantile (quoting my parents not me!)

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 02/06/2017 13:11

No, I haven't changed my mind.

Isn't that along the lines of what TM herself said?

I've read that before somewhere.

5amisnotmorning · 02/06/2017 13:16

No I haven't changed my mind.

FitnessFad · 02/06/2017 13:17

Sorry, I haven't changed my mind either.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 02/06/2017 13:17

Nope, I haven't changed my mind.

RainbowsAndUnicorn · 02/06/2017 13:20

No, still believe they are best for the country. Not bothered about not attending a debate.

HumphreyCobblers · 02/06/2017 13:20

The reality that the fallout from not doing the TV debate is probably less than the fallout would be by her doing the debate and buggering up is extremely disappointing.

Fundamentally it doesn't change my ultimate opinion that I don't want a Labour government but it is not what you would want as a Tory voter.

Helendee · 02/06/2017 13:21

No not at all, still voting Conservative, mind you I would vote for just about anyone other than Corbyn.

Mrscog · 02/06/2017 13:22

No, I hate the debates, they are terrible for sensible political discourse and debate and my view is they damage democracy as a result. Car crash TV and politics at its worst. Have complete respect for her staying away. If it was me I would on an intellectual level.

Ladymuck · 02/06/2017 13:22

No, I haven't. Labour's economic plans are entirely unrealistic. I can understand why people are attracted by free money - but would hope that they would realise that the HUGE increase in tax burden would not fall on a few anonymous rich people, but would affect everyone in the economy whether through the reductions in jobs, increase in prices etc.

I have to say that I am scared that there will be many people who simply don't understand the interaction though.

That said I suspect that there is the opportunity for some people to make a LOT of money in the next week or two if they can guess on the market and currency fluctuations correctly.

lizzyj4 · 02/06/2017 13:22

No, not changed my mind.

Laiste · 02/06/2017 13:25

The leaders appearance on non-appearance on tv debates makes no difference either way on my vote.

I'm not a conservative supporter, so not your target responder OP, but you ask if the appearance on TV of JC has swayed their vote?

My answer would still be no! I don't believe any of them deserve a vote tbh.

deecrepid · 02/06/2017 13:25

No, not changed my mind either, Corbyn's fantasy world does not attract me.

Laiste · 02/06/2017 13:26

you could ask

Abitofaproblem · 02/06/2017 13:27

I don't think the non attendance of a TV debate means that much considering the alternative is Corbyn and his team. I don't think Labour can pay for all the things they offered with a small increase in taxation. What they will do when they discover that I do not know.

salsaysthis · 02/06/2017 13:28

Haven't changed my mind. Really can't warm to TM but I'm voting for a party, not a president. I think TM will be gone during the next term anyway.

SallyGinnamon · 02/06/2017 13:30

That wouldn't change my mind at all. However my local MP / candidate is rumoured to be pro fox hunting. I'll ask at a hustings next week and if it's true then he'd never get my vote again.

lovelycuppateas · 02/06/2017 13:31

Have the people still voting Tory and saying they are scared of the Labour Party being in power read the manifestos? The Labour Party's is so much more sensibly costed and transparent. The Tory party's is incredibly vague - and has already been backtracked upon! It baffles me that anyone can think May is a safe pair of hands, when she just seems so incompetent when she appears on TV (and this is the REAL reason why she didn't attend the debates, of course).

CordeliaScott · 02/06/2017 13:33

No, but I'm really not a fan of the debates, especially the large scale ones. They seem to just be 7 people shouting over each other. Head to head debates I can see a point to but larger ones, no. Anyway as labour MPs seem to like to tell us, you are voting for a party not the leader!

kaytee87 · 02/06/2017 13:35

My dh usually votes conservative and he's getting pretty irritated with her ATM.

Bluebeedee · 02/06/2017 13:36

Bordersarethebest - haven't you read the Tory manifesto? There are plans to repeal the hunting ban!

No as I loathe these programmes.
