More on the meaning of Trump, the Trumpsters and Trumpism

OP posts:
claig · 28/11/2016 20:21

'Claig - I know I shouldn't wind you up. Hard to resist sometimes.'

That's fine. I debated with you months ago. i know youa are a Blairite and you tried using smear tactics, but I thought you were probably better than that, so I carried on debating with you as on the thread about antisemitism etc. Sadly not. I debate in good faith and put time into my answers, but if I am talking to someone who starts off smearing and who is clueless about politics and Trump, then there is no point wasting time.

Inkanta · 28/11/2016 20:21

'Inkanta, do you actually want to respond to any of the points I made?'

Al - I'm listening. I'd like you to say a bit more. Expand your one liners. Don't leave it all to Claig to figure out.

claig · 28/11/2016 20:23

Kaija, I started watching it, but when I saw Curtis's hackneyed subliminal images etc at the beginning, I thought it was Viet Cong 1960s BBC Oxbridge communism or something, so I gave up. What is it all about? I will watch it if there is a good point to it?

Alyosha · 28/11/2016 20:25

I don't speak Ukrainian sadly although I would like to start learning.

Southall - вы также говорите по-русски?

As Southall says it's predominantly a man's diminutive but is sometimes used for women, mainly those called Yelena, Aliona etc.

claig · 28/11/2016 20:25

'What the hell does Alyosha mean in Ukrainian?

CLAIG - It's a man's first name. A diminutive for Alexei usually. I've never known it be used by a woman, except there is a Ukrainian female singer who uses it, but her real name is Olena.'

Thanks Southallgirl, that makes it a lot clearer. Thank God, you are on here. i have never been to the Donbass, so haven't got a clue what it is, but it is obviously not English.

OP posts:
Alyosha · 28/11/2016 20:26

What more do you want to know?

Preferred Bravissimo bra, current profession, weight, postcode?

Or thoughts about Trump?

claig · 28/11/2016 20:27

'Re Fillon, claig said upthread you thought he was an elitist stooge.'

That was the socialist banker, Macron, bigged up by the BBC predicatably.
My guess is that Blair would get on great with the socialist banker.

Alyosha · 28/11/2016 20:28

Claig, how intriguing! I distinctly remember us having a discussion about Ukraine in the last thread in which seemed quite well informed about the situation in the Donbass, albeit from the opposite side from me!

Does Trump's thin skin and anger disturb you? Worry you?
Are you concerned he thinks Nukes should be the first line response to conflict?

Spinflight · 28/11/2016 20:28

"and I linked to evidence in The Economist on the net contribution made by migrants in this country"

There is no evidence for migrants improving my economy, or the economy of anyone I know.

Southallgirl · 28/11/2016 20:28

CLAIG - Donbass is where the Don Cossacks hail from ..... the Donbass/Mariupal area. Many ethnic Russians living in eastern Ukraine, as you know.

Southallgirl · 28/11/2016 20:29

вы также говорите по-русски?

Da.

claig · 28/11/2016 20:29

'Or thoughts about Trump?'

No thanks, what you know what about Trump is not worth knowing, you're like Blair, clueless.

What I would like to know is what your relationship with Ukraine is and what Alyosha is all about (although Southallgirl has cleared that up now)?

OP posts:
squishysquirmy · 28/11/2016 20:30

Alyosha, I've found that in a funny sort of way 2016 has brought me closer to people I thought I was quite politically distant from. I used to think I was slightly left of centre (although the "middle" seems to have moved so far right recently that I don't know where I stand now). They may accuse us of "group think" but I bet you, me and the other Trump critics are from different parts of the political spectrum.

I am trying to remain optimistic! Spending too much time on this thread is not conducive to that though.

claig · 28/11/2016 20:32

'Donbass is where the Don Cossacks hail from ..... the Donbass/Mariupal area. Many ethnic Russians living in eastern Ukraine, as you know.'

Thanks, Southall. I never had time to get into it, but aren't the Cossacks mainly Ukrainian as opposed to Russian, although they backed the Russian Emperors etc?

Are there Ukrainian Cossacks as well as Russian ones?

Kaija · 28/11/2016 20:34

"Claig, how intriguing! I distinctly remember us having a discussion about Ukraine in the last thread in which seemed quite well informed about the situation in the Donbass, albeit from the opposite side from me!"

Hmm. That is rather intriguing.

claig · 28/11/2016 20:35

' I distinctly remember us having a discussion about Ukraine in the last thread in which seemed quite well informed about the situation in the Donbass, albeit from the opposite side from me!
'
I don't remember you being informed at all. Yes, I am informed because ever since the Maidan, I have learned something about it as can be seen on the threads on here, with Mathanxiety etc, when the Maidan started when I knew zero about any of it but learned about it from then on.

OP posts:
claig · 28/11/2016 20:37

'Does Trump's thin skin and anger disturb you? Worry you?

I am not interested in informing you about Trump. I debated with you politely for months and on the Putin and antisemitism threads etc, but I wasted my time, you see me as a Russian troll, so don't waste my time.

OP posts:
Southallgirl · 28/11/2016 20:38

Russia lost 20 million in WW2, and before that at least another
20 million in the famine. I doubt that she will want war; they endured 70 yrs of totalitarianism to get to this point. We in Britain have also endured a form of totalitarianism since the 80s. Enough is enough.

Kaija · 28/11/2016 20:39

But, but...

". i have never been to the Donbass, so haven't got a clue what it is, but it is obviously not English."

claig · 28/11/2016 20:39

Kaija, all my Ukraine threads are on here right from teh Maidan when I knew nothing about it. Read them all and get informed on Soros and the Maidan coup, just like Soros and Trump.

OP posts:
Kaija · 28/11/2016 20:41

"'Does Trump's thin skin and anger disturb you? Worry you?

Well I'm also interested in how the Trumpers here feel about this.

Kaija · 28/11/2016 20:41

But you denied all knowledge of it this evening.

Kaija · 28/11/2016 20:45

"I debated with you politely for months and on the Putin and antisemitism threads etc, but I wasted my time, you see me as a Russian troll, so don't waste my time."

That is SO exactly what a Russian troll would say.

Grin
claig · 28/11/2016 20:45

'Well I'm also interested in how the Trumpers here feel about this.'

That's patently obvious. this is a Trump thread, but ever since we had teh pleasure of your company, you have accused us of being "fascists", "national socialists", "far right", "racists", "white supremacists", and me of being a Putin troll.

It is clear you are not English and Kaija is Latvian, so maybe that explains why you have no interest in Trump or what Trump supporters think.

OP posts:
Kaija · 28/11/2016 20:46

Eh?

So what's your answer?
