More on the meaning of Trump, the Trumpsters and Trumpism

OP posts:
Kaija · 28/11/2016 17:17

Have you got some figures, southall?

Alyosha · 28/11/2016 17:18

Kaija - it's good because unlike Putin his madness doesn't have a method. He'll be bad for democracy but he's not clever enough to have a plan to systematically destroy the free press.

Alyosha · 28/11/2016 17:19

And he loves Putin because he likes the idea of being a dictator, but unlike Putin he doesn't have an underlying desire to restore the USA to its past imperialism. He just wants to enrich himself.

Southallgirl · 28/11/2016 17:20

Chris - That's good info. You said it better than I could! It infuriates me when someone's ideology will not allow them to acknowledge that more is going out than being put into the moneypot.

I also work in the Directorate of an NHS Trust and see myself exactly what the cause & effect is of extra population.

Kaija · 28/11/2016 17:20

Ah I see, Alyosha. Unfortunately I think that is what Steve Bannon is for.

claig · 28/11/2016 17:23

'claig it's very bad form on any thread to force someone to identify personal details about themselves. '

Roussette, I never usually do that, but Alyosha has returned after months of inactivity to once agains accuse me of being a "paid" Russian toll working for Putin. I also get smears from others that I am "a white supremacist" and a "fascist" etc from other posters. I can out argue any Blairite, as I have done with Alyosha many months ago, but I do object to being smeared as if I am some kind of traitor working for Putin by posters, including some who are not even English.

That is why I ask about Alyosha, with a nae that is not English, and who accuses me of being a paid for troll working for the Russians.

What is Alyosha's connection with Ukraine? Why is she so botherd by my posts about Putin, which are the same views as Farage or Trump's, that make her persisently accuse me of being paid by him. Are Farage and Trump also working for Putin because none of us give a stuff what he does in Donbass unlike Alyosha who has worked ther ein some capacity?

Unfortunately, if you grasp the nettle you'll be accused of racist anti-migrant behaviour. Its economics thats all. Brexit was economics. Trump in a large part was economics. I wish more would make some effort to understand that.

Alyosha · 28/11/2016 17:23

Yes Bannon is worrying! I think the biggest risks from Trump are his temper & access to Nuclear weapons.

Bannon is scary inasmuch as he can influence Trump & other people who actually make decisions. It also shows that basically Trump believes in some of the WN ideas & aims, which is bad news for voter enfranchisment.

Alyosha · 28/11/2016 17:25

Claig I have been active on MN...just not on the politics board!!!

Also find it v. odd that you are more worried about being accused of being a pro-putin troll than you are of being accused of fascism & racism!!

sportinguista · 28/11/2016 17:28

I imagine if Claig were in the pay of Putin she would be perhaps targeting somewhere other than MN. Mr Putin strikes me as having bigger fish to fry than a load of mummies whose concerns tend to revolve around nativity plays and staying awake at work.

Are you a secret criminal mastermind Claig?

Alyosha · 28/11/2016 17:30

The Treasury models based on immigrants being net positive to the economy, why would they bother lying?

Especially when our PM is deadset on reducing immigration.

sportinguista · 28/11/2016 17:32

I read an interesting article on the Bannon appointment on Spiked, can't link as am on iPad but if you do a search it's one of their recent articles. It's worth a read. In fact there are some really good articles all told on there.

Alyosha · 28/11/2016 17:32

Sporting - not at all. I will dig out the relevant article (which I posted on a previous thread when this came up...well when I brought it up) but it is a specific aim of Russian counter information to be everywhere, including Reddit, Mumsnet, the comments sections of every newspaper etc. The idea is to sow doubt in the political process, spread conspiracy theories and generally make it harder to distinguish real from fake.

Alyosha · 28/11/2016 17:32

Sporting - that is a very dismissive view of MN - most of the top threads are much more meaty than that!

Southallgirl · 28/11/2016 17:33

Chris Yes, it is just economics, but some prefer to beggar this country for the sake of some half-arsed ideology that says - All of you non-contributors and health tourists, from everywhere, come here, we will manage your quintuplet pregnancy, your dialysis, open heart surgery, lung transplant. We've got taxes from the British 9 to 5 backbone (which afterall are the longterm contributors), but that's alright you can use their money, you have equal rights to it.

Inkanta · 28/11/2016 17:33

Goodness me - what's going on here this afternoon?

Fancy our Claig being called a pro-Putin troll!

She's a national treasure on MN.

Love her posts.

Kaija · 28/11/2016 17:35

Southall, did you read the link from The Economist?

sportinguista · 28/11/2016 17:35

Yes but you have to admit that a lot are about things that would have limited opportunities to insert any political view, unless there is such a thing as political parking.

claig · 28/11/2016 17:35

'Also find it v. odd that you are more worried about being accused of being a pro-putin troll than you are of being accused of fascism & racism!!'

I find them equally distateful which is why I pulled Kaija up about it before. But now you have rurned nd your first post is to again accuse me of being a paid for Russian troll as you did months ago.

I know you are a Blairite and cannot debate without using smears, so I would like to know what your connection with Ukraine is since you have accused me of having a conection with Putin.

I have no connection with Putin or Russia, and yet you clearly do have a connection with Ukraine. What is it because that may explain why you don't like my posts concerning Putin, which are in agreement with the views of President Trump and Lord Farage.

'Are you a secret criminal mastermind Claig?'

I wish I was Smile Then I would be rolling in money and the Amazon Cyber Monday splurge today wouldn't have rocked the bank acount Sad

OP posts:
Kaija · 28/11/2016 17:36

Sporting you are quite wrong about Mumsnet's influence.

claig · 28/11/2016 17:37

Thanks, Inkanta Grin

Unfortunately, it is the same two posters who always accuse me of it.

OP posts:
Southallgirl · 28/11/2016 17:39

Alyosha - Mrs May does intend to control immigration. That's what she said. There is little point in allowing more bodies into the country than are needed. What for? There is little affordable housing to start with. The profession class will not be affected but those with low-level skills or unskilled, who cannot afford living costs from basic pay and have to be subsidised by the taxpayer ..... there is no requirement for them.

FrostyLeaves · 28/11/2016 17:39

Fascist and racist have become cheapened jibes on t'internet though. It would however be galling to be missing out on being paid for a hobby!

Kaija · 28/11/2016 17:40

Claig? How do you square your distaste for racism and fascism with your admiration for openly islamophobic Trump policies, and for the appointment of Bannon who made Breitbart into a far right platform?

And secondly, how do you square your love of free speech with your love of Putin.
