More on the meaning of Trump, the Trumpsters and Trumpism

OP posts:

Southall, the Treasury models its figures based on more immigration = good for tax take.

May wants to reduce immigration as that's what people want, fine, but no use pretending that immigrants aren't good at least for the economy. They may not be good for people already here (separate argument) but they are certainly good for the Treasury!

Alyosha · 28/11/2016 17:44

Claig, you didn't go after the other posters' jobs & real identity with such zeal.

perhaps Putin just touches a nerve with you.

Alyosha · 28/11/2016 17:45

Can any Trump lovers reassure me re: his thin skin, volcanic anger, desire for retribution + his access to nuclear weapons?

claig · 28/11/2016 17:48

'How do you square your distaste for racism and fascism with your admiration for openly islamophobic Trump policies'

Because Trump is not Islamophobic. He has Islamic supporters in the US. He has busines interests with Muslims as do some of his advisers. But currently there is Islamic terrorism and Trump intends to put a stop to it, so he will be vetting Muslims more than he vets Christians or Jews.

'Bannon who made Breitbart into a far right platform?'

It is not a far right platfom. The Muslim, Raheem Kassam, was or is head of its London operation and it employs lots of Jewish contributors e.g Milo Yiannopoulos etc

'how do you square your love of free speech with your love of Putin.'

I haven't got a love of Putin and don't know hardly anything he does, but my right to free speech is to say if I agree with some of his policies, which I do agree with, just like Farage and Trump do, who also believe in free speech and are both against Blairite political correctness.

Southall my DH has had 2 Calais migrants placed at his work. Despite being given intensive training to give them the best chance to be able to be productive members of the workplace they had to let both go. Mainly because even after over double the amount of training usually given to new staff they were making serious errors and also continual making health and safety violations which put both themselves and others at serious risk as they simply had no awareness in that respect.

These guys will possibly take a very long time before they are self supporting in any way and even longer before they are able to do a job above the minimum wage. Therefore not all are net contributors or will be.

By contrast I do know some who are very highly paid. But they did come in as just that, highly skilled.

claig · 28/11/2016 17:51

'Claig, you didn't go after the other posters' jobs & real identity with such zeal.'

Because no other poster, apart from Kaija, accused me of being a paid for Putin troll. Why don't you tell us all what you did in Ukraine and everyone might them understand why my posts have caused you to repeatedly over a period of months accuse me of being a paid Russian troll.

I really dont know why you are so worried about Trump, Alyosha unless you are here to continue chipping away at his election win. If USA people are not happy with that, then they need to reform the electoral college. What they want is to suspend the e.c. system just for this particular election.

You might as well say that the last 10 presidential elections have been wrong because of the way the e.c. works. I don't remember anyone crying into their lattes about those.

There are many people between him and any far-reaching decisions despite Republicans being in the majority in the House.

takesnoprisoners · 28/11/2016 17:55

Place marking.

FrostyLeaves · 28/11/2016 17:57

Alyosha I comfort myself by choosing to believe Trump is acting a role a lot of the time and deep down / in a crisis he will revert to atavistic Presbyterianism and do his duty..

Kaija · 28/11/2016 17:57

Wasn't me that accused you Claig - must have been the other one.

Southallgirl · 28/11/2016 17:58

Exactement, Sporting. Many immigrants/refugees will not work for years for various reasons. They may be temperamentally unsuited to do a 9-5, Mon-Fri job, because they never had to be that self-disciplined in their homelands.

And there are no consequence to not accepting work. Once you have been let go several times, the DWP tends not to pester you.

It is only the highly skilled who are net contributors because they are self-supporting. Having said that, quite a few Brits are not paid well enough to be self-supporting either, so there is no reason to add to the burden on the public purse.

Kaija · 28/11/2016 18:00

Southall, do you think that sporting's anecdote about her two Calais colleagues outweighs all the research on this?

Alyosha · 28/11/2016 18:03

Southall, I've said why I'm worried about Trump.

His short temper, thin skin, desire for retribution and his access to Nuclear weapons.

Frosty - let's hope you're right!

Kaija · 28/11/2016 18:07

Claig, what do you think is the difference between the alt-right and the far right?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/11/2016 18:07

I'm kind of worried he now seems to think you do diplomatic negotiations by twitter.

Chris1234567890 · 28/11/2016 18:08

Um,seems a good moment to re-post what I said when we moved over to this new thread;

"Just for clarity and before I get 15 pages down and someone rocks up to throw flash bangs.

Im not Russian. I do not live in Russia. Nor am I paid by any commie organisation to share my views. All 'misinformed ravings' are my own."

Are we at page 15? GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Inkanta · 28/11/2016 18:08

'His short temper, thin skin, desire for retribution and his access to Nuclear weapons.'

Is that all?

sportinguista · 28/11/2016 18:11

It is just a snapshot, but actually my DH works in a place where much of the workforce are migrants, including himself. He has experienced in the close to 20 years he has worked there a reduction in the overall terms that people had working there, so much so he was shocked to find out that some of his colleagues were having to use food banks. These are people that are working full time. It is a very well known company. Something feels like it's very broken, for both migrants and Brits.

claig · 28/11/2016 18:15

'I'm kind of worried he now seems to think you do diplomatic negotiations by twitter.'

OhYou, that is what Trump fans love about Trump. He is not a "career politician", he breaks all the rules and does thing "his way" and all the "career politicians" and world bleeders are going to have to get used to it and that is going to be a great laugh to watch them all try and adapt.

Trump is not letting up on Clinton

"Trump administration will pressure foreign states to probe Clinton Foundation"

OP posts:

Sporting I'll agree with you there. The tragedy is that the blame for years of Tory-imposed austerity has been put on migrants, apparently successfully.

Spinflight · 28/11/2016 18:19

If anyone is a paid Russian troll then pm me.

Could do with some extra cash whilst enjoying the illiberal tears. :)

Kaija · 28/11/2016 18:19

Unlikely they'll find anything in the Clinton Foundation as fraudulent as Trump University.

claig · 28/11/2016 18:21

'Unlikely they'll find anything in the Clinton Foundation as fraudulent as Trump University.'

Kaija, just wait and see. We haven't even been told a 100th of what it is all about. Trump already knows it, he is just turning the screws bit by bit.

How many law suits have been brought against Trump again?
