More on the meaning of Trump, the Trumpsters and Trumpism

OP posts:
squishysquirmy · 27/11/2016 19:50

No, Chris it doesn't say that explicitly in his policies. I suppose a lot will depend on the details and the enforcement. There was some concerning language from him during the campaign, but he is backing down a lot now so maybe we should try to be hopeful. They might not be totally analogous to McCarthyism, but they are a whole lot closer to it than the examples you provided earlier in the thread.

That phrase: Defeat the ideology of radical Islam as we won the cold war : If this did include policies analagous to McCarthyism, would you be fine with this as a means to an end? If the result is defeating radical Islam?

squishysquirmy · 27/11/2016 19:55

Oh and I didn't click your link Chris. The daily mail don't need any more advertising revenue from my clicks, and the last time I read a link of yours (which was very long and though interesting not overly relevant to our discussion), I was accused of being "disrespectful" (I really, really wasn't) to the writer when I quoted her.

Southallgirl · 27/11/2016 19:55

Southallgirl, that businessman you worked with sounds like he had a real nasty, bigoted streak running through him

He was a product of his upbringing, what is there to say? You would never guess it because he never revealed it, but on some occasions, with me, he was full of bile. And as for you believing that inculcation can be expunged .... I'm sorry but you are fooling yourself or someone's fooling you. My boss had several Jewish friends with whom he socialised, sent flowers on the birth of a baby etc, but not very far under the skin there it was .... out of reach of Reason. That's what brainwashing is. We see it in some members of the 'Religion of Peace' here in GB and now very troublesome all over the EU.

squishysquirmy · 27/11/2016 20:01

Maybe prejudice caused by upbringing can never be completely expunged, but with enough self awareness and will it is possible for a person to at least recognise it within themselves, which is the first step. And no, not everyone brought up in a Middle Eastern country hates Jews.
Yes, there is a lot of hate in the world but (sounding like a hippy now Wink) more hate is not the answer.

Hi Missswatch, I haven't been on TheDonald for a while. How serious do they think this Jill Stein recount is? From teh little I have read about by US analysts, some are saying that this is the elites trying to possibly steal it and use their protestors etc I don't know, all I know is that they are desperate. I will try nd read up more about what the analysts are saying about it. Trump has called it a "scam", but the elites probably have a plan.

Hopefully everything will be OK for Trump.

OP posts:
claig · 27/11/2016 20:12

Francois Fillon has beaten Alain Juppe in the second round, so it will be Fillon versus Marine Le Pen

OP posts:
Missswatch · 27/11/2016 20:13

Probably Soros again no doubt. Hopefully Trump will give him the middle finger

claig · 27/11/2016 20:20

Yep. Have you seen Sheriff David Clarke, whom Trumo is meeting on Monday. He is a possible Homeland Security Chief pick. I hope he gets it because he is the business and Soros or no one else will try any tricks if the Sheriff is in charge.

Jill is only challenging in 3 states where Trump won narrowly, not in any of teh states where Hillary won with a smaller margin. She has raised more in about a week than in her entire previous campaign, I think. The elite up to their usual tricks. Hopefully Trump is onto it.

OP posts:
Bobochic · 27/11/2016 20:25

claig - we do not yet know whether it will be Fillon versus Le Pen! There will be other candidates in the first round of the presidential elections.

claig · 27/11/2016 20:28

Thanks, Bobo, so does that mean that Fillon is a definite and Le Pen may not get to the first round?

OP posts:
claig · 27/11/2016 20:30

Watching France 24, they are saying that Fillon will face strong opposition from left wing unions because he is a Thatcherite. Does that mean the left won't support him against Le Pen?

"Francois Fillon has beaten Alain Juppe in the second round, so it will be Fillon versus Marine Le Pen"

Well well well. A right wing election. Hollande is so despised this wont just be for the candidacy, itll be Fillon vs Le Pen for Presidency. Its an EU referendum next spring! Fillon In Le Pen Out.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/11/2016 20:37

There is the Socialist party too but if Hollande stands again I think they are stuffed.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/11/2016 20:38

Hollande may not stand, so we don't know that yet Chris.

Bobochic · 27/11/2016 20:39

Both Fillon and Le Pen will be in the first round, as will other candidates (e.g. Macron). The two leading candidates from the first round go to the second round, which might well be Fillon versus L Pen. But Fillon might coral votes from FN supporters in the first round with his conservative manifesto.

claig · 27/11/2016 20:42

Yes, OhYouBadBadKitten, Hollande is so unpopular, he is a disaster.

I thin Macron may be standing, banker loved by teh elites, usual stuff.
Also Manuel Valls may stand, tries to swing right etc

A British Radio France International host on France 24 says she thinks the socialists won't make it to the 2nd round and she thinks it will be Le Pen vs Fillon.

OP posts:
claig · 27/11/2016 20:44

Fillon is pro Putin and so is Le Pen, and so is Trump, so the entire axis in Europe is shifting. Most of Europe will have to fall in line with Trump and do what he wants in my opinion. The entire world is changing.

OP posts:
Bobochic · 27/11/2016 20:45

I cannot stand the idea of Macron as president because I cannot stand his wife. Such an unsuitable couple to be President and Premiere Dame.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/11/2016 20:47

I think it will probably be Fillon v Le Pen too.

claig · 27/11/2016 20:47

Just weeks back, there was talk of Hillary doing no-fly zones in Syria and some analysts saying we were heading for nuclear war with Russia under Hillary, the bankers and the elites, and now all the storm clouds have lifted and peace is everywhere. Trump is the catalyst for the change.

OP posts:
FrostyLeaves · 27/11/2016 20:48

I think a modern equivalent would be in jail in the UK!

"Just weeks back, there was talk of Hillary doing no-fly zones in Syria and some analysts saying we were heading for nuclear war with Russia under Hillary, the bankers and the elites, and now all the storm clouds have lifted and peace is everywhere. Trump is the catalyst for the change."

I blame Brexit Grin The people are indeed speaking Claig.

claig · 27/11/2016 20:52

'I cannot stand the idea of Macron as president because I cannot stand his wife. '

I don't know his wife. I saw him interviewed on BBC 24. They bigged the banker up. Smooth talker, young, good image, all that was missing was a Blairite hand gesture but I am sure he is being trained on that. Typical type that the elites like, will do their bidding etc.

OP posts:
claig · 27/11/2016 20:58

Chris, it is an incredible people's revolution, power is slipping so fast out of the elite's hands, they are clueless about how quickly the world is changing. They have asked Blair to come back and help them, but the only problem is he hasn't got a clue what the heck is going on, he doesn't understand the "people"

Tony Blair Says He Does Not Understand Politics Anymore'

www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2016/02/24/tony-blair-says-he-does-not-understand-politics-anymore_n_9304178.html

Blair has got a loyal cadre of spinners and Blairites who still supoort and cheerlead for him, but they are all clueless about the "people" too.

I just cant see any serious contenders against these two. The left and the liberals have been destroyed by Hollande, Bremoaners and anti-Trumpsters, and with legal challenges now on the table, its not going to stop anytime soon. Austria next weekend now gathers pace.
