Into the final lap now after over 1 year of entertainment, education and excitement. Donald J Trump is nearly there against all expectations.

'That's one of your jokes, right? ' Grin

Trump doesn't really know Katie Hopkins, he doesn't know our politics and newspapers. If anyone says a good word about Trump, he always says they are highly "respected" Smile

Yeah he's a comedian that Donald, that's for sure Confused

US talkshows live - about to start 52 hours non-stop live broadcasts. Analysts, experts, no lying media types, certainly no Establishment and no "teams".. I will try to stay awake for at least 50 of the 52 hours. Crates of skittles on order from Sainsburys deliveries because not a moment of analysis can be missed. History in the making. We the people.

Oh, I know I said I wouldn't get involved, but I have to take issue with "Tom Paine is smiling down on us..."

Tom Paine is spinning in his bloody GRAVE at the prospect of a Trump presidency! And I think he'd be pretty hacked off about Brexit too. But that's another thread.

Ahem. Right, I really am going to stop now. As you were.

claig · 07/11/2016 16:55

AntideluvianCat, fair point except from the reports I have heard from sources, they say he wears a "Make America Great Again" hat everywhere he goes.

'Ahem. Right, I really am going to stop now. As you were.'

Please join in some more and continue to point out mistakes, particularly if made by Hillary supporters. Wink

claig post a picture of your eyes at the end of 50 hours! Bags on bags on bags... Grin

No way am I staying up all night but will probably get some sleep in then turn it on in the night.

claig · 07/11/2016 17:07

'claig post a picture of your eyes at the end of 50 hours'

It will be like one of those Merry Melodies cartoons, large zagged red lines all over, matchsticks to hold the eyelids open. But this is what Trump fans have to do. As Trump said

"I did my bit, I worked, folks ... now it's your turn"

50 hours. For this alone I take my hat off to you.

Thank you. Of course, I will probably only last 5 hours, but it is the intent that counts.

"Jill Stein Agrees with Trump: Hillary Clinton Presidency Means Nuclear War, a ‘Mushroom Cloud Waiting to Happen’

“Get ready for war with Russia” if Hillary Clinton is elected president, said progressive Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein.

“This election, we are not only deciding what kind of world we will have, but whether we will have a world or not going forward,” Stein warned, explaining that Clinton’s trigger-happy militarism “is a mushroom cloud waiting to happen.”

This is my favourite of all the things I've read today- an extract from a longer article by Barbara Kingsolver.

""I’m horrified to watch the bizarre pageant of my nation pretending these two contenders are equivalent. No one really imagines Donald Trump applying himself to the disciplines of the presidency, staying up late reading reams of legislation, instead of firing off juvenile tweets. It’s even harder to imagine Clinton indulging in the boorish self-aggrandisement, intellectual laziness, racism and vulgar contempt for the opposite gender that characterise her opponent. If anyone still doubts that the inexperienced man gets promoted ahead of the qualified woman, you can wake up now.'

fourmummy · 07/11/2016 18:32

AntideluveanCat - this is another explanation for why they may have burned Trump on Bonfire Night. In fact, I said so when I went to one myself (ditto re the burning of Trump) but no-one believed me:

"Even people with no knowledge of politics know who Trump is, said Mac An Iomaire said, explaining the runaway popularity of the U.S. election in betting markets. "Trump is such a huge celebrity."

Gosh, my opinion of Jill Stein just fell off a cliff.

Thanks for that quote claig.

You're welcome, she has been warning that for quite a while about Hillary and war with Russia.

Well all the Podesta emails have now been released along with another batch from the DNC.

The latter were a bit disappointing and other than what appears to be Hillary sending likely classified intel via her private email, which she was told to take to another channel, no bombshells in the former. That a secretary of state does this should be a bombshell but has merely become a known.

So the biggest revelation, assuming wikileaks hasn't withheld something for election day itself, is that wall street, or specifically Citibank picks the democrat's cabinet. Who then push through bailouts or the like literally worth hundreds of billions of dollars to those who bought and paid for them before the election.

The collusion between big business and the government can no longer be written off as conspiracy theory. Hell Hillary even gave private speeches to the banks telling them that she had to have a public and private opinion, which is an interesting way to say that she lies constantly. :)

What happens in the states does affect us here and everyone else throughout the world and throwing some light on the murky dealings has, I think, greatly benefitted us all.

So whether you are a Clinton fan or a Trump supporter, and especially if you view the whole charade with grim fascination without choosing sides can we all agree that the world owes one man a debt of honour?

That this man is holed in a 2 rooms of the Ecuadorean embassy without access to sunlight or communications, and more importantly that he hasn't seen his children in 4 years to me dwarfs all other injustices given his service.

Take a bow, Mr Assange, the world owes you a pint.

'The collusion between big business and the government can no longer be written off as conspiracy theory'

Add the media to that, as Trump so often says. The real news ws on social media and alternative media, not the BBC ad manstream media. Nearly all the media in the US are in the tank for the Establishment's candidate.

Poll: Huge Majority Believe Media Is Biased in Favor of Hillary Clinton
by Alex Griswold | 12:54 pm, November 1st, 2016
1283

A Suffolk University/USA Today poll finds that by an overwhelming margin, Americans believe the media is biased in the favor of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“Who do you think the media, including major newspapers and TV stations, would like to see elected president, Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump?” asked the poll. A whopping 75% of those polled said the media favored Clinton, while only 7% said they preferred Trump.

Those results hold up across partisan lines. 74% of Clinton’s own supporters perceive that the media is biased in her favor, compared to around eight-in-ten Trump supporters.

Likewise, despite the frequent accusations from the Clinton campaign that Russia is interfering in the 2016 election, only 10% say “foreign interests such as Russian hackers” are the “primary threat” trying to change the election results. Four times as many respondents, 45%, say the news media is the primary threat."

Nearly the entire population understands the game, which is why despite the BBC and all the rests reports, I think the people will bring Trump in.

As Kim Dotcom tweeted recently

"2016: The year that hackers became journalists and journalists became hacks"

Claig? Have you liked Milo Yiannopoulos' FB page? Love his work and I'm sure you will too

Have you also heard Amy 'I'm funny cuz vagina' Schumer got a ticket to Canada in case Trump wins?

claig · 07/11/2016 19:14

I haven't checked Milo out much. I have seen him on Breitbart occasionally. I like the fact that he is not politically correct. He has courage, just like Katie Hopkins. It is people like that who will save us all one day from the politically correct elites, even if we disagree with them on some things. Courage like that is very rare.

OP posts:
claig · 07/11/2016 19:19

I am an eternal optimist. I think Trump will beat the elites and even if he doesn't he has exposed the rigged system and now millions of people understand the mainstream media bias, they agree with Trump that "it is a rigged system" and with Milo and Katie Hopkins and Trump and lots of people mocking them, they can't draw the curtain on their "pay for play", their charidees and their wars any more.

But I think Trump might beat them even this time and then al their games wil be over. Trump is going to clean up the entire rigged system so fast that the media won't be able to keep up.

claig · 07/11/2016 19:26

I am not on Facebook. I can't even watch Trump's facebook live videos because it keeps sticking a blimmin' Log In sign everywhere.

Sorry fourmummy I'm possibly being a bit dim... are you suggesting we only burned Trump effigies because he's well known and recognisable?

Difficult to explain to someone who isn't familiar with the town and the bonfire tradition (although we made the New York Times today!), but we only burn "enemies of bonfire" - ie. establishment / authority figures who are widely disliked by people 'round these parts. In the past we've had Cameron, Putin, Alex Salmond and various local people, or things connected to local issues that people are angry about. Trump fits the enemy of bonfire profile fantastically (in fact, I'm surprised only four effigies went up). A Brexit-themed effigy of May, BoJo, Farage and Gove also copped it.
