new thread. :)

Here is one of the Guardian's senior Oxford PPEs. He hasn't got a vote, but panic is all he has been doing for months!

Keep waiting to hear that either a) FBI has cleared the new emails or b) Apprentice tapes have dropped. Surely one more twist before Nov 8"

WinchesterWoman · 01/11/2016 23:04

Do you know I don't think they are. I think they're breathed in blissful complacency. Poor loves.

lightingseeds · 01/11/2016 23:07

The Guardian! The Guardian! I love it - The Guardian is now part of the global conspiracy that rules us all (whilst cunningly appearing to be just a once fine newspaper increasingly disappearing down the pan).

I sometimes worry that claig really is the zeitgeist (embracing the common impulse behind both Trump and Corbyn-mania), but then I read a little thing like The Guardian comment and am reassured that none of it has any connection to reality.

WinchesterWoman · 01/11/2016 23:09

The guardian comment does have no connection to reality, ne'er a truer word

claig · 01/11/2016 23:10

I'm not sure. This was from a Guardian PPE just 13 hours ago

State Poll Roundup: Monday politicalwire.com/2016/10/31/state-poll-roundup-monday-11/ … via @politicalwire"

There are elites who have their fingers and toes permanently crossed, there are elites who are can't concentrate and there are elites who are losing the plot, and plotting is their forte, and it is all because of Donald J Trump.

Go Trumpsters!

ToujeoQueen · 01/11/2016 23:18

The Whole World won't be watching Claig. As well you know.

claig · 01/11/2016 23:24

ToujeoQueen, the whole world's elite and political class are definitely watching even if most of them are doing it through their fingers, somewhat reminiscent of Edvard Munch's The Scream or more correctly Der Schrei

The people on the other hand are laughing and tucking into the popcorn cheering the Trumpsters on.

WinchesterWoman · 01/11/2016 23:28

lightingseeds · 01/11/2016 23:29

But he's not going to win. It's already fixed. WinchesterWoman read it on another thread in a post by someone who used to move "in certain circles", so it must be true.

ToujeoQueen · 01/11/2016 23:35

Hmmm, let us see what happens. The proof will be in the proverbial making, baking and eating of the pudding.

claig · 01/11/2016 23:40

"in a post by someone who used to move "in certain circles""

The operative words there are "used to"

The whole world has changed. Blair says he no longer "understands" what the hell is going on and why his speeches fall flat and no one is listening any more apart from some of the 172 Labour MPs who hang on to his every word.

As the Professor who does "understand" what is going on and has rarely got a prediction wrong, and who says Trump will win, says

"But there can come a time when change is so cataclysmic that it changes the fundamentals of how we do our politics, and this election has the potential — we don’t know yet, but it has the potential"

and it looks like that time is now.

WinchesterWoman · 01/11/2016 23:41

Why seeds why? We were just kicking stuff about.

WinchesterWoman · 01/11/2016 23:46

The media have been allowed to post these polls now, it's so Clinton voters don't stay at home

ToujeoQueen · 02/11/2016 00:06

MrT will get bored, bored, bored with it all.

OlennasWimple · 02/11/2016 02:07

The Guardian has no connection to reality.... I used to subscribe, hard to imagine that now...

fourmummy · 02/11/2016 06:17

The contrast between any Guardian article (which I never read) and readers' comments (if they allow them), which I always read, is an excellent barometer of public opinion.

Lweji · 02/11/2016 07:19

I'm kind of curious, claig.

Who would Trump choose for his cabinet and as advisers?
Where do you think he'll get them?
He'll need people who know the subjects and the inner workings of Washington. Where will he find them?

BTW, it's not hard to guess or figure out who most people will be in a transition cabinet. They are usually the people who've been working with the candidate.

Another issue from tax returns if that of debt? Is anyone aware of how much debt Trump has and to whom? He owes big to those who bailed him out in the past. And, for a billionaire, he's been very cautious with money on this campaign.

Lweji · 02/11/2016 07:21

The contrast between any Guardian article (which I never read) and readers' comments (if they allow them), which I always read,

If you never read the articles, how do you know what they are like and if they are in contrast with the comments?

claig · 02/11/2016 07:48

'Who would Trump choose for his cabinet and as advisers?
Where do you think he'll get them?
He'll need people who know the subjects and the inner workings of Washington. Where will he find them? '

This is what is keeping Trump fans up at night. Will the Establishment encircle Trump? Will they surround him with faces from the Council on Foreign Relations like they did to poor Reagan? Will the elites laugh as they try to trip Trump up at every stage and thwart him at every opportunity, will thwy surround him by their "best and brightest", teams from Harvard and Oxbridge? Or does Trump have their number, does he know their game, will things never be the same?

All Trump fans can hope for are those legendary words "Let Trump be Trump" and "things are going to change so fast folks, believe me", it's going to be "yuuge", and all the elite's games are "not gonna happen any more, folks, not gonna happen" and the crowd shout

"Trump, Trump, Trump, USA, USA, USA, lock her up, lock her up, lock her up"

and the Guardian panics, Francois Hollande "retches" and elites run for the hills.

Lweji · 02/11/2016 09:09

"things are going to change so fast folks, believe me", it's going to be "yuuge", and all the elite's games are "not gonna happen any more, folks, not gonna happen"

If only he had any idea how.

But you've said that he will surround himself with people in the know, as he doesn't dominate any subject.
Who are they?
That's important, surely, if he's clearly inept and needs help.
Has he said who they are?

I can also say I'm great and I'll create a perfect world. But I'm used to showing how I'm going to accomplish my objectives (it's the trouble with grant writing).

claig · 02/11/2016 09:31

"Has he said who they are?"

Of course he hasn't. Does a poker player at a Las Vegas casino reveal his hand? That is why the elite are worried, they want to see Trump's hand, but he is keeping his cards close to his chest. They have said to him "we have some teams we can offer you" and he has told them "not gonna happen any more". So they called him Deplorable, the Guardian and the New York Times and all their teams attack him constantly, but Trump fans hold firm and loyal, laughing as they queue up for Trump rallies where Trump lays into the elites and their rigged game.

Lweji · 02/11/2016 09:37

Should people vote for a poker player?

Lweji · 02/11/2016 09:39

But who do you think they are and where will he get them?
What geniouses are on the ready to steer Trump?

claig · 02/11/2016 09:43

If a poker player is calling the elite's bluff, if he is making them blink and sweat, if he is cleaning up and cleaning them out, if he is taking them to the cleaners, if he is calling them out and cleaning their clock, if he is going to take the shirt off their backs, then of course people should vote for him. Trump fans are double dipping into the popcorn and laughing and clapping as Trump takes the elite to the cleaners.
