Politics

I've just done a political 'what party to support' survey and I'm horrified!

I've only voted in 2 elections, Labour when I was 18 and Lib Dem at the last one, although I was heavily leaning towards Tory but was taken in by the Lib Dem student friendly lies!

The survey has come out as 80% UKIP. This is the last thing I would ever have expected being a Euro fanatic and relying on the EU for h2bs employment and living abroad! The other 20% was LibDem for my views on education. I though I could spot the UKIP policies a mile off but clearly I was very wrong...

So who do I bloody vote for?!

The survey was this one voteforpolicies.org.uk/ anyone else care to share results vs expectations?

Additional information: I have never been politically minded and its only now whilst I'm starting a new family that I've begun to take an interest and learn more about politics, so I am, I suppose, quite naive in the area. From a very Tory town on London commuter belt and family half strong Tory supporters with a little bit of labour thrown into the mix.

25% BNP Shock Shock

I'll put this down to the fact that I am watching millionaire matchmaker so easily distracted !

i am so shocked i cant believe it. I got 40% BNP (holy shit) and 40% UKIP with 20% Lib Dems. If you knew who I was getting even 1% in BNP would be a shock.
Personally i blame it on the wooly writing of policy by the main parties. I definitely chose policies that were more concrete in their targets (even if they probably couldnt achieve them).
oh god look at me trying to justify my extreme views
think i'll slink off and hide now

btw i cant vote in UK elections (thank god given my scores!)

It's because both the bnp and ukip write their policies as if they were utterly reasonable and not at all racist/xenophobic. That said, I chose Green Party immigration policy and such like which is more 'yay, foreign people' than anything else.

Shock at you jibber

and its quite ironic that the BNP would probably not let you in the UK as you are a ''forriner'' despite whole heartedly agreeing with their policies Wink

Has this survey been updated since the last general election or is it using those manifestos. I'd love to be able to compare pre and post the coalition!

I'm happy with that. I voted Lib Dem last time but have definitely defected to Labour since.

The UKIP and BNP policies stood out a mile.

Given that I'm a forrinner, I am very very shocked that I achieved a smidgen of BNP.... OMG!! The rest equal split between LibDems and Greens, which is what I expected.

But that BNP thing is scary. Was for education.

yes hormona i cant believe that too! i can understand UKIP a bit more as I definitly lean more to conservatives (and from what i've heard UKIP and torries swap voters a lot) but the BNP totally floored me.
Agree arbitrary its a matter of how the policies are written (needless to say I could spot the labour ones a mile off and they used 10 words for every 1 word needed!)

Report
Dromedary · 01/03/2013 12:27

Please please vote UKIP OP. Anything that waters down the Tory vote has to be good.

Report
Umlauf · 01/03/2013 12:34

No! If UKIP take us out of the EU both DH and I will lose our jobs, and DH especially would be right back at the bottom of his ladder! I thought I had spotted that policy a mile off when one said 'we love Europe but hate the EU.'

Labours Europe policy isn't all that bad...
